This performance was “okay” for me. She was singing live because you could hear the microphone but the BACK TRACK was too loud and at certain parts when she put the mic down, she still sounded the same but I commend her for keeping my attention the whole time. I wished she danced more. I don’t like the jumping up and down thing. TTT is a nice album, Already have it locked and loaded on my iPod. Do Ya Thang and Drunk On Love are the best songs on it! Anyway, good luck to Rihanna in her future endeavors.

When I first heard this song, my first thought was, a really nice song, but I knew that she would not be able to perform this live and I was right. The least she could do would be give a proper choreographed routine, especially since most of her live performances she is not singing, so breathing should not be difficult. Rihanna is no live performer, she is a studio performer at best. Look, the girl has catchy songs and we can’t argue that she has the “hot” factor but the bottom line is that she has a great marketing team which is the main reason she bust out of the blocks like she did. Don’t knock her success – what’s for you is for you and this is her destiny. Who we should be attacking are the Record Labels who are more interested in exploiting the “look” of an artist instead of promoting real talent and lyrical content. I read somewhere that talent is only 20% of the music industry now – what counts more is marketability of the individual. We should be thankful for real vocal talent like of Adele, Beyonce, Melanie Fiona, Mary J Blige, Kelly Clarkson, Cee Lo Green, John Legend just to name a few.

Watched it twice…. the girl is singing along the back track. You can even hear when she BELTS we found love. Lip-synching would involve lipping the performance. There were moments where she allowed the back track to take over but you can CLEARLY hear that she is is singing on top of a track. I don’t really like when they have pre-recorded tracks but w/e. Simon gave her a standing O so he must’ve thought it was good LOL. I enjoyed it…. It’s a rave track… she doesn’t need an ENTIRE dance number seriously!! Ppl forget the girl came out DANCING. I didn’t even bother to watch it. I’ve seen enough of Rihanna’s performance FAILS to know that this one was probably no good either. And judging by the comments, it seems like my prediction is right. Just stick to the recording studio where you can be “tweaked”, don’t try to perform “live” Rihanna…you simply don’t have any skill or aptitude for it.

the performance wasn’t good she could of done better, and I do agree with the poster. Rihanna doesn’t have a voice for pop music, her voice sounds better with rock music. Rated R was pretty close, hands down her best album. She does look s*** with short black hair. She needs to reevaluate her music and think about herself.
That backing track was comedy. They should have just played the song and showed the video! Her handlers are genius because they know televised performances don’t ever help her, they just hurt. The performance was ok, I hate when the camera cuts in and out, it makes the performance not like it would be if I was in the audience.
That backing track was turned ALL the way up but in general I dont mind when performers who are exerting themselves lip synch. Just as long as its not apparent, hers was this time unfortunately because she starting grunting while the note was still holding and also had the mic down by her side while another word was being sung. Im not surprised though because even though the song is kinda basic some of the notes would be difficult for her to hit live and add in the jumping around, it would kinda be impossible to sound good.
Im going to say it is because she probably isn’t use to doing a basic complete lipsynch. What she did was kinda like singing to the CD in your car with the music turned up, couldn’t really hear her voice. But she’s defintely trying to improve live.

I liked it very different kind of like a performance of a drama. yeah she was out of breath but i think its because shes doing alot. She had to travel from her tour to perform at the x factor then travel back to start another tour somewhere else I could understand why she could be out of breath. usually when a singer is on tour they just focus on there tour they dont go back and forth making appearances.
Good point = She had fun on the stage and executed a couple steps. She had nice themed attire.
