After coming under fire for an embarrassingly poor set at Capital FM’s Jingle Bell Ball last week, Roc star Rihanna took her ‘Loud Tour‘ showing in Budapest to redeem both she and her worth as an entertainer.
Armed with just enough costumes and bright lights to disguise her evidently exhausted body, this show comes days before she pulls the plug on the tour to continue promoting her latest LP ‘Talk That Talk‘.

The bottom line is that Rihanna was not built to last and is very “replaceable.” This is why she does not take breaks, and repetitiously puts out a generic by-the-numbers pop album every year. Being that she has little ‘star power,’ in order to sustain her momentum she has to continually strike while the iron is hot, while employing a multitude of petty ‘stunts’ to get attention (tacky wigs, brothel attire, referencing her tumultuous relationship Chris Brown years later.) The moment she sits down to catch her breath, ten more record label assembled chippies will be thrown into the ring and the last two standing will be the next “Rihanna.”
In 2012, no more do we need windup doll acts like Rihanna getting on camera and posing like an androidian cast-off from America’s Next Top Model, while vapidly bleating over an empty dance track, hanging around longer than the fifteen minutes that is typically allotted for manufactured pop stars such as her. It seems there is a trend here. Lil Miss Rihanna is not a huge opener but because of her popularity and her constant singles release ,she has manage to somewhat become a “steady seller ” It’s so weird because she sells well overseas and that is very evident as all of her albums except her first has sold over 3million world wide with Good Girl Gone Bad and LOUD being the most successful selling over 15 million copies combined .
Now onto her voice and her live performance. Rih is not the best singer in the world but then again neither is Janet,Madonna or Britney Spears but they make up for that in their performances. On a good day she can sound good and other days awful. On her tour she has used big sets to aid her in her performances while only dancing just 25% other shows at the end of it all Rih just takes the little she has and make much of it. I found it very ironic that she did her first world tour (Last Girl On Earth) which had poor vocals and lil dancing…i thought the world had had it with her but her sold out shows across Europe speaks otherwise. At the end of the day what make Rihanna successful is that she’s unique….she proves you don’t have to scream and belt out numbers to sell out arenas and records. Will she last ? maybe…. The pop world these days is very fickle and if you are gone for long the world moves on leaving you behind like it did with Jenifer Lopez,Christina Aguilera and now Beyonce. Hence the microwave popcorn pop by Katy, Gaga and Rihanna….it’s the era for it and once Rihanna can put out those hits consistently she just might last.
