  6. Beyonce Never Had A Baby February 13, 2012

In the midst of Whitney’s death, who in the hell is watching the BET Awards right now? I completely forgot about that s***** show. And Ledisi and J-Hud were there and they couldn’t at least get one of those two to sing a Mariah tune? Yet they got non singing Rowland? I bet she did perform Fantasy because she for damn sure would not be able to pull off Mariah’s classic big balladeers.

All of those low notes, high notes, chest notes, whistle notes would be a killer for Rowland.

  7. EdwardPonton February 13, 2012

    Kelly did great.

  8. williNalli February 13, 2012

    Yo K….MA GURLLL!!!

  9. Cee February 13, 2012

    @BeyonceNeverHadABaby

For your information Mariah Carey herself asked Kelly Rowland to tribute her. Indeed. Now go pick up your face.

  10. KNUCK February 13, 2012

I clearly did not see a couple of these performances on tv… I’m sitting here trying to figure out if I blacked out and never felt it!! wth

  11. NikkiIsChillin February 13, 2012

Sooo proud of Kelly. Great job honoring Mariah!!! Love Ms Pattie too. She had me tearing up.

  12. listen February 13, 2012

Yes performed fantasy and not a big ballad and she did the damn thing the whole point is yes she killed the bet awards last year.. but we all know it was lip sung the point she proved last night is yes she can sing. and lets not act like she didnt hit that high note..anyway her performance was the talk of night she got people talking so save the hate.

  13. listen February 13, 2012

I mean tonight she was the talk of the night and proved the point that she can carry a tune. no she didnt outdo mariah but she held her damn own and made it very enjoyable and made people realize that she has a very underrated talent

  14. Anne February 13, 2012

I thought everyone was great but I was the most impressed by Aretha and Stevie. Both were spectacular! I will definitely be watching those two performances again. I noticed that Mariah did not thank Kelly on air. Guess it was just an oversight probably due to her heartfelt excitement over Patti who also performed well though noticeably not at her peak. Must treasure legends like Aretha, Stevie, and Patti because we don’t know how much longer they will be here to sing for us.

  15. ChristinasCOMING February 13, 2012

Mariah is such a DIVA and I f****** love it!

Anyway, Ms. Kelly….I think we all know what you’re niche is and it’s just a matter of time before you realize that you should be doing songs like Fantasy.

Stay away from all that euro dance pop trash and do more urban uptempos like Fantasy.

Anyway, Ms. Kelly you killed this tonight! You know you did the damn thing when you get Mariah out of her seat jamming to it beaming.

  16. why you mad? February 13, 2012

    Yeah Kelly killed dat derrrr!

  17. KING#15 February 13, 2012

IM AM VERY DISAPPOINTED KELLY HAD THAT SONG AS A TRIBUTE…SHE SHOULD HAVE DONE A BALLAD

SHE COULD HAVE DONE VISION OF LOVE OR HERO

AND PATTI COULD HAVE DONE WE BELONG TOGETHER…

SHE ALWAYS DOES AND GET SECOND RATE STUFF THATS WHY PEOPLE DONT TAKE HER SERIOUS

AND THE SAD THING IS SHE HAS A REALLY STRONG VERSATILE VOICE

  18. chil February 13, 2012

such a PROUD fan!!!!! Kelly you DID THE DAMN THINNNGGG!

  19. Anne February 14, 2012

The TGJ Team failed to do mini posts for the two best performers (IMO) Aretha (Until You Come Back To Me/Signed, Sealed, Delivered) and Stevie (Livin’ For The City).

  20. JER February 14, 2012

KELLY THANK YOU! YOU DID THE DAMN THING!

  21. MRDIVABITCH February 14, 2012

    Kelly’s intonation = Rock Solid

    Kelly’s performance = HOT

I had not payed her any attention…till now…
I shall check this girl out
She was always on Beyonce’s shadow
But she is a good vocalist on her own right.

  24. Tr February 14, 2012

Wow!! So, I guess Mariah wasn’t being patronizing when she stated the great job she did!! Kelly sounded amazing!! Even I had my doubts, but these last few years she really seems to be pulling thru, and taking HERSELF, and her craft seriously!!

  25. Ivy. February 14, 2012

    Kelly,
King B would be so proud. This has to be the most clean and clear live she’s ever been.

  28. Nastybreakdown February 14, 2012

Kelly was HOT! I loved her performance….was a lil hesitant @ first when I heard that she was gonna do a MC tribute, but she penned it. she fit the song very well and was into it

  29. Whitney fan February 14, 2012

As I Whitney fan, I have to say while I am still devastated by the loss of Whitney, I am truly happy for Mariah. She truly is and deserves to be recognized as a legend. It makes absolutely no sense that people like Beyonce are honored as “legends” before Mariah. I have my issues with Mariah’s lipsynching but at her prime few singers could outsing her as a live vocalist.

Now that Whitney is gone I hope fans would remember the kind words Whitney had for Mariah, and the kind words Mariah had for Whitney, and learn to appreciate both of their talent. Whitney will always be The Voice, top diva, and the most awarded artist of all time, and Mariah will always be the one who has the greatest range and more commercial success overall.

Remember their friendship and talent. Learn to RESPECT.

Congratulations to Mariah and Rest In Peace, Whitney.

    From a Whitney Fan

  49. B4REAL02 February 14, 2012

    Ms. Kelly did her thing!!!

  50. Dave February 14, 2012

KELLY F***** SLAYED PERIOD! So haters stop! If it was a basic chick like Rih struggling on basic notes, though singing live most would say “she slayed.” So give credit when Kelly went out there & did the freakin dang thang. So many doubted her, “I’m scared.” Um…she’s honoring a LEGEND! She doesn’t have time to do mediocre. & plus why would she embarrass herself & have to sing a song LIVE that she clearly didn’t have the abilities to do? If people had been checkin her out, she has been slaying vocally recently. Whether or not the BET Awards was live live, or pre-recorded live, it was HER live vocals. She performed the same song at a few shows, & hit all the same notes as the BET Performance, once she did a F#5, another she did a G5. & She always hit the E5’s, so stop………

  51. said so February 14, 2012

    Kelly!!! You did that girl!!!

  59. said so February 15, 2012

Its amazing how XY and Z does not comment when Kelly is doing great. It doesn’t make any different though because I don’t read his comments, however, it goes to show that he is just a hater who wants to find little mistakes Kelly makes and make them into mountains to say she is failing. Pathetic! Anyway, GO KELLY, job well done!
