While mourners paid tribute to Whitney Houston at her ‘Home Going’, newswires were abuzz with news that the singer’s ex-husband Bobby Brown and his group of nine had been asked to leave.

With the service over, Brown moments released a statement addressing the matter. His words below..

“My children and I were invited to the funeral of my ex-wife Whitney Houston.  We were seated by security and then subsequently asked to move on three separate occasions.

“I fail to understand why security treated my family this way and continue to ask us and no one else to move. Security then prevented me from attempting to see my daughter Bobbi-Kristina. In light of the events, I gave a kiss to the casket of my ex-wife and departed as I refused to create a scene. My children are completely distraught over the events. This was a day to honor Whitney. I doubt Whitney would have wanted this to occur. I will continue to pay my respects to my ex-wife the best way I know how.”

Bobby Brown

———————————–

Today was and is Whitney’s day and the send-off was nothing short of stellar. However, I can’t but sympathise with Bobby here. The man has many a public transgression. Yet, in seeing first-hand how some sects media spun this until folk in the church came out and echoed the same sentiments as the statement, I can’t but empathize.

Of course the whole thing would have been alleviated had Brown not turned up with a circle of nine,  and instead brought ithe reported two he was advised to. However, the “entourage” some outlets mis-reported, were in fact Bobby’s children – all of who are extremely close with Bobbi Kristina – he and Whitney’s daughter.

Sigh.

He didnt deserve that type of treatment. Not at her funeral.
It’s not like he was the cause. He may have enabled and caused a negative affect, but if you watched “Being Bobby Brown” you would know that they loved each other and their children immensely.

I feel That was very wrong, Don’ t they understand that he is hurting also, Just because you are not with someone dosen’t make you stop loving or caring for them. Bobbi Krisina is going to need her Father also. I feel that he has been mistreated in all this. I really don’t think Whiney would have wanted his, My Prayers are with her Family,And Bobby Brown.

Since this was a “private” service, we don’t know and we’ll never know how Bobby gets along with Whitney’s family.

I read that Bobby and a plus one were invited but he brought other people including his children. Whitney’s body will be buried tomorrow, Bobby’s family would still have the time to say goodbye later.

Bobby should have sucked it up, and asked the seven other people to wait in the car, like Karrootie waited for Chris when he went to Rihanna’s birthday party, or like Drake waited for his goons who were threatening the tattoo artist, or like…

Uh, did I digress? Oh Well. *exits*

In her life time WHitney never blamed Bobby for her drug taking. She was a grown woman, she made her choices, bad choices but her’s nonetheless.
At the end of the day Bobby was her 1st love, her partner for over 15 years, the father of her child. I think the family should’ve been able to put aside their differences for 1 day…If not for Whitney then for Bobbi Kristina.

At the end of the day, they loved each other, no one except them and a few close people know what really happened in their marriage, so let’s nott judge. As Kevin Costner said let’s put aside our anger for a moment. I doubt Bobby put a gun to Whitney’s head and forced her to smoke crack. They both had their demons, it was a toxic relationship.

WIth that said it was a beautiful service, very sad, my heart broke when the casket was being carried away as “I Will Always Love You” was played.

sympathise with Bobby? are u kidding me right now? he may not have been a cause but he was definitely a catalyst. he supposedly clean these days, remarried, procreated, alive and kicking whilst Whitney struggled with her demons till death and you sympathise with Bobby effing brown? inspite of all the abuse he put Whitney through and i’m not even talking drugs here. Fine, say it was in the past …they both made mistakes blah blah blah but if he loved Whitney so bloody much wy couldn’t he for the passion of love stomach his over-inflated ego and suck up whatever flimsy inconvenience he’s put through for a few lousy hours huh? that would’ve been too much i guess. anyways this is all a non-issue, he was never gonna be treated like royalty at that service anyway. Must be a blow to him that her 1-time screen partner was alloted a significant slot and he wasnt.

RIP Whitney. Today is all about you

I HATE the media because of this! People are quick to make judgement on Bobby and point the finger before getting their facts straight!

The reason why Whitney is dead (to me) is because of how the world and media treated her, bad mouthed her and made her feel bad enough to take Drugs (even if she took it before the media uproar – the industry pressure must have contributed).

either way this is a WAKE-UP-CALL! Lets STOP judging people/stars etc before getting the full story, cause they are humans too and no better than me and you. lets not contribute to another artist killing off themself to drugs and instead of JUDGING lets HELP and spead LOVE!

Bobby Brown may have been the crappiest husband in all of America and the entire world, but he is not at fault because Whitney did drugs… Whitney is. Unless he threatened her life and forced her to take a toke/smoke/snort, then it was her choice, plain and simple. Those of you who think otherwise are misguided and downright delusional…

BTW, No matter how sh*tty the circumstances surrounding them, Bobby was Whitney’s husband and the father of Bobbi Kristina; he should have been allowed to attend the funeral service without all the unnecessary B.S. No amount of shading Bobby will change that… shame on them for doing that!!!

@Jaime – Thank you. I read one account that stated he was told that Cissy didn’t want him on the 1st row, which is appropriate since he is no longer “immediate” family. He could have sat behind Bobbi Kristina while the other 6 people he brought would have been seated farther back in the church. Imagine the planning that had to go into this, for him to be informed that he had +2 and shows up unannounced with +6! When he was told that he could only bring 2 others, why didn’t he let someone know that his other children wanted to attend and straighten out the arrangements then instead of showing up at the church like that. IMO he was out of pocket & I’m glad he left.

This diva move of his guarantees that the paps & entertainment reporters will hound him for the next week or two for “exclusives”. SMDH

On the subject. I think it’s been clear for years the friction between Bobby and the Houston family. He should have kept it cute and brought however many were approved.

The whole Houston family is just mad because Bobby was able to get clean and stay that way while Whitney struggled. They cannot blame Bobby 100% for Whitney’s addicition because somewhere Whitney and her family needs to accept some responsibility. Shame on Bobby for introducing Whitney to drugs but because Whitney continued to do them, you cannot blame Bobby.

Bobbi Kristina however is 18 years old and old enough to speak for herself. But honestly I think that because Bobbi is already an addict and struggling to get clean, they want to keep Bobbi away from her as much as possible so that the same thing doesn’t happen to her. Bobby isn’t a great influence on anybody regardless if he’s clean or not.

WIth that being said, everyone including Whitney, have said that Bobby was not the cause of her using drugs. She started that before Bobby and continued it with him and after the divorce. It’s sad that the Houston family still blames Bobby for Whitney’s death. They are only harming Bobbi Kristina who needs everyone she can have. And I think that Bobby should have been sitting next to his daughter. Those extra people could have sat somewhere else. This is not the time for drama but from personal experience, I can say that funerals bring out the worse in people. Let’s pray for everyone especially Bobbi Kristina.

You know as christian folks we should act like that. We all know Bobby is an ex but he should of be allowed to sit next to his grieving daughter. The other people that came along should have sitted whereever there was a sit available, but some of them were Bobbi Kristina’s half siblings and they are very close. With the
Houston family stating that they are all churcg going folks ….well they didn’t act like it today and that is the only thing that puts a scar the funeral. The funeral was glorious and outstanding they done a lovely job and our girl is resting in peace. No one can say Bobby and Whitney didn’t love each other. Everybody talks about their lives how Bobby mistreated her none of us were in their bedroom. So lets remember Whitney in a positive life and hope that Bobby and Bobbi Kristina can get thru their demons.

Of course Bobby Brown mistreated Whitney Houston! Guys please. Said by Whitney herself on Oprah interview. it all started one night when they arrived home after a prty in which Whitney was obviously the star, he was jealous and splitted to her. She couldn´t understand why when all she always did was trying to make her marriage strong no matter what. That´s when all started, she never gave more details but we all know she called police several times in the late 90´s and early 00´s. I can´t respect this man and that´s it
Of course they loved each other. Probably Whitney loved him, seeing how easy he goes from one woman to the next. Also he cheated on her while they were married. i mean f****** please.
Yeah I know Whitney is at fault of the drug abuse. But she had to go through many things. Like Kevin Costner said today, she was the first big international music star who was female and black. We can´t deny there are lot of racism out ther, more in the 80´s. Then the Bodyguard succes is just too much to handle I think. And when she couldn´t give more, she still gave it. I think she used drugs to continue. And then that marriage… many problems in ther, even if we don´t know. And all your problems being in the public eye. Not all people are strong enough to resist that in just one life.
    RIP Whitney

I understand some of you guy’s comments, but those were some of the same Step children who just last year got on Twitter and was calling Whitney out of her name and saying she was mad because their Father (Bobby) didn’t care about Whitney anymore. In this day and age, you have to watch what you say because it can come back and bite you in the ass. Also, I think the family feels a certain type of way because although Bobby grieved and cried for Whitney when he heard she passed away. He didn’t leave immediately to be there for Bobbi Kris. If your daughter’s mother just passed, he should have left immediately to be with her instead of performing that night, but I guess he had to because the show still had to go on. Sadly, we all are speculating what we think we know because it’s put out there by the media and people’s PR, but there has to be deeper issues dealing with their family matters that none of us honestly know. All I can say was he was there, but he if he had all this family who wanted to pay their respects, they all should have been there last night during the private viewing to do it properly instead of getting upset during the going home services earlier today.

And please remember some of his family use to sell stories specifically about Whitney to the tabloids, she in retrospect some of them should have excepted to be excluded from the funeral. Remember his sister, brother, sons, and daughter all spoke out negatively about her in the past. She may have forgave some of them, but Cissy wasn’t having it, especially today. Sometimes you should be nice to people when they were alive, because after death, you can try to act mournful, but remember the damage has already be done. It is what it is!

Whitney and Bobby CLEARLY had a strong bond, tumultuous, but strong! People need to realize that if it weren’t for Bobby, Whitney would not have had the greatest love in her life….her daughter Bobbi Christina!

Whitney was a GROWN ASS WOMEN and she was responsible for herself! Hell she was even older than Bobby! Whitney had a drug problem, her close friends even admitted that she had been abusing drugs BEFORE she married Bobby! Their relationship clearly wasn’t a healthy one and they weren’t good for each other but all the blame CANNOT be place on Bobby alone. Whitney CHOOSE to do drugs, she choose to marry Bobby and stay with him for 15 years! She had the option to leave if he was mistreating her but instead she choose to stay!

As adult Whitney had many choices in her life and she often made the wrong ones. The choices that SHE mad in her life are what cause her early demise. No one elses.

Whitney also admitted that she struck Bobby herself ‘out of angry’ several times during their times in the Diana Sawyer interview! Look it up on Youtube! So clearly the abuse was on BOTH ends! Anyone who watched that ‘Being Bobby Brown’ reality show could clearly see that Whitney was high strung and just as out of it as Bobby was. BOTH of them were the problem in that marriage! It was ALSO widely reported that Whitney got into a physical altercation with a woman in a club over Ray J a few nights before she died! Not to mention that she came out of the club looking sloopy drunk and was shouting and cursing at the cameras. Was that Bobbys’ fault too?

even rev sharpton spoke out to say that people should just leave bobby alone and stop the finger pointing. even jessie jackson sounded somewhat hacked off at the way bobby was treated.

some (not not all) of the media who hated her ‘bad boy’ hook up are the only
other ones i hear spitting hate and blame at bobby. they wanted to keep playing into the ‘[princess purity’ image that whitney says clive davis created of her.

This is utter nonsense it doesn’t matter how you look at it . This funeral was about Whitney not the Houston family. Bobby had every right to bring his other children he does not have plus two kids in the culture all siblings should be at the funeral epecially if they have a close relationship. Bobbi kristina will always be Bobby Browns kid. They could have used this time to mend fences for her sake instead they put him in an awkward position. They are going to regret this decision becoz they are going to loose kristina becoz they are forcing her to choose between the two families. They need to realise that Whitney is gone so the do not have a hold on that kid Bobby has all the right cards. They should be kissing his ass right now Whitney and Bobby loved one another they can’t wish that away. This is the problem with christian families they vilify anything they don’t agree with this is the reason they are burying Whitney becoz they did not try to meet her halfway they were too busy fighting her marriage to Bobby.

Read my comment again i did not speak of Chris in a negative light. I was saying Bobby Brown would be a better analogy than rappers as he did in his recent bout of rants. Chris is a public figure and he’ll always be referenced like the rest of them, i’m sick of u fans thinking he’s entitled to some sort of concession meanwhile he stays behaving like an immature brattish wannabe thug.

Again, i was not blaming Bobby for all of Whitney’s problems but he was a scum to him to her. Yes, they were both volatile but are u really equating Whitney’s tantrums to his? Ur viewpoint on abusive relationship is gravely faltered right now and i think i know why but i’ll keep it cute. Whitney was no saint but she deserved a BETTER HALF not a bum. She lost almost everything and he got off easy

Since he did not pay he should go by the invitation instructions and not have brought 9 people. And don´t give as an example their marriage around 2000-2005, when Whitney already had lost it, of course the two of them had fights. We are talking about when it all started, right after they married, as Whitney said herself. The first thing was he splitted to her one night. And then probably many things. He was constantly jealous and also cheted on her whilr married. If that is not an abusive relationship I don´t know what it is
And dead at people who try to defend Bobby (And I kind of feel for him, cos I´m sure they were happy many times and he loved her in his own way) just cos they are Chris Brown fans… please get out of here. Domestic violence is not tolerable. You guys know I don´t respect Rihanna as an artist, but please
So glad I don´t live in the USA cos it seems there are lots of people over there who think it´s normal a husband hitting his wife just cos she does it too in return. So glad

no one here is claiming it’s ever ok for a man to hit a woman but, obviously you don’t know that in america it’s also a crime for a woman to hit a man. if they get into a fight and they both look beatdown they can both be arrested for domestic violence. there’s also a term called ‘mutual combat’.

whitney had the option to leave bobby, she told oprah if a man hits her she’s gonna give as good as she got. so if she wasn’t afraid to go toe to toe with him, she wasn’t scared to leave him. beside, she said if bobby got heavy handed, “relatives would see to it he came up missing”.

women can’t jump on a man and then attempt to hid themselves behind the shield of femininity if he strikes back (even slightly…been there).

it sounds like she didn’t leave bobby because she was addicted to the way the man ‘worked it’. she said as much in a couple of interviews. besides she was determined to prove the media and the likes of YOU wrong about her marriage (it seems no matter at what expense).

as much as i think bobby was a dog, no doubt, whitney knew it before she married him. he even sang about it (remember ‘my prerogative’)? whitney was a smart strong-willed woman but she was weak for bobby.

    @ riri…

if a man hits you once, it’s HIS fault. if he hits you twice, it’s YOURS.

I DONT AGREE HOW BOBBY BROWN WAS TREATED DURING THE HOMEGOING OF WHITNEY HOUSTON. THEY HAVE TO STOP POINTING THE FINGER AT BOBBY BROWN, BECAUSE WHITNEY HERSELF STARTED USING DRUGS AT THE AGE OF 16 AND A WHITE PERSON GOT HER STARTED, SHE IS A MODERN DAY BILLIE HOLIDAY AS LONG AS SHE WAS MAKING #1 HITS FOR CLIVE THE SNAKE DAVIS EVERYTHING WAS COOL BUT AFTER HER DRUG USE SPENT OUT OF CONTROL AND SHE WAS MARRIED TO BOBBY BROWN THEY WANT TO BLAME HIM, WHY NOT BLAME THE MOMA SHE HAD TO SEE IT WAY BEFORE THAT NOT LETTING HIM OR HONOR AND SUPPORT HIS DAUGHTER WAS VERY CLASSLESS AND SHOWED NO COUTH AND THE FACT OF THE MATTER WHITNEY LOVED BOBBY REGARDLESS OF HER HABITS I WAS APPALLED THAT BOBBY WASNT ABLE BE AT THE FUNERAL, BUT THERE IS A SAYING YOU WILL WEEP WAT YOU SOW AND I KNOW THAT CISSY HOUSTON IS GOING TO FEEL KARMA ONE DAY.. GOD BLESS THEM ALL
