The last week has seen rumours of a supposed Rihanna and Chris Brown collaboration swirl into quite the media hurricane. And, while neither have confirmed if we’ll be tasting the ‘Birthday Cake (Remix)’ featured them both, Brown has taken to Twitter, offering insightful words.

Pardon my cynic, but this reeks of an elaborate PR stunt by team Fenty.
A Brown collaboration, in light of the “incident”, would effectively KO her her public image. Something she and her team know all too well. The exact reason, furthermore, why no such duet will ever happen (too many people’s careers hinge on the smoke and mirrors that is hers).
However, by drip-feeding the media with the “impossible”, they’ve created a frenzy around her latest fast-food release; hence when she’s ready to pop it out of the microwave, the heat from anticipation will have cooked it to the top spot.
Whether a gullible public will fall for it will be interesting to see.

The PR and press for this one song is getting more hype than a Britney Spears first single. I’m curious to see how they are going to play along because BIrthday Cake is getting more hype than the Talk That Talk single, which needs focus.
Either her team is banking on risk or falling into a trap. If indeed Chris is the feature, it makes no sense that her career take a backlash over a single that does not get the singles treatment.
However, if it isn’t Chris, then whoever the feature is better be outstanding. Hopefully Lil Wayne, Usher, or Will.I.Am.
