In somewhat of a surprise move, Clive Davis’ Annual Pre-Grammy Gala did indeed take place last night following the untimely death of Davis’ protégé, Whitney Houston - just hours prior.
The likes of LA Reid, Ciara, Kelly Rowland, and Diana Ross, were among those in attendance at the industry celebration; one producers insisted should go on – as it’s “what Whitney would have wanted”. A nod, it seems, to the age old Hollywood adage “the show must go on”.
Granted Whitney’s body was still at the very same venue (the Beverly Hilton Hotel), I can’t say it’s a sentiment we share.

Wth, thats sick. Her body is in the building, they didnt have to ahow up. Kelly osborne said she couldnt dp that, sje wasmt in a partying mood. Why do ciara look tacky? That haor and outfit is a huge no. who is the hell told her she looks good, with ghetto hair? She needs to sit down, they’re waiting to release her singles in the spring. The show must go on is not the most important thing. It’s just a damn freaking semi-private party, whose in recent yrs. also get marketed. *rolling eyes*
A get together for music executives, artists and all inbetween. AKA hoeing around. Metaphorically and Literally!
SMDH …not sure if Whitney would have wanted. But surely I would have not wanted to party and hang my face in cameras when a idol and inspiration just left untimely and tragically.
That they don’t blow the Grammy’s or Superbowl with billions of dollars attached is one thing, but those minor ‘Get-Togethers’ like sand on the beach a complete different. As a Kelly Rowland or Diana Ross I had stayed my butt home. But esp. for Clive NOT to cancel. My Gosh. There is no soul and heart in music-art anymore. None! Only the green greed!

This is such a sad time in the entertainment indusry and this
is what can happen to any one , but no matter what the show must go

I kind of feel like they shouldve cancel the show but i get why Clive said she wouldve wanted the show to go on. But still it doesnt look good, while her body is still n the building. This is just a sad sad tradgy. Im still n shock of her passing. Lord please just watch over Bobbi Kristina, Cissy Houston, and family freinds at this horrible time.

I was anticipating the grammys for the Adele thing and well all of it cos it´s the grammys… but who cares now? WHITNEY HOUSTON has died. One of the 4 biggest is not here anymore

As for the show must go on, it sure will because we’re talking about MONEY and it doesn’t stop flowing because a legend has died. This is just another example of how $ still rules. Ya’ll want them to cancel a party that cost millions to put on, yeah right. Personally if I was a celeb I would have skipped this but I actually read my moral compass, but who knows, maybe if I was caught up in hollyweird like most of these ppl I may loss the ability to read it like some of these folks.

Those who attended after hearing the news, or stayed after i find this odd. Clive should’ve cancelled and im sure people would’ve understood. Clive and Whitney had a close relationship and it was said that he was a father figure to her,
Theres a video clip where Clive, Brandy and Monica are talking to the press and Whitney comes in with Bobbi Christina and she tells her to say hi to her godfather.
It’s pretty much like finding your daughter dead in a room, closing the door and continuing the party that you arranged.
People look nice… i guess, except for Ciara who’s having her pretty woman moment and Kim Kardashian who never looks good.
