Nicki Minaj Graces New York Magazine, Talks Grammys & Madonna With Ryan Seacrest

‘Stupid Hoe’ hitmaker Nicki Minaj may have won new fans after scoring a touchdown with her Superbowl performance with pop icon Madonna last week, but last night’s showing at the 54th Annual Grammy Awards probably didn’t win the starlet anything more than a mountain of mixed reviews.

Debuting her new number ‘Roman Holiday’, lifted from her April-due sophomore album ‘Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded’ the multi-personality performer took to ‘On Air with Ryan Seacrest’ to dish on details of the performance, the response from spectators, her new single ‘Starships’ (due tomorrow), days with Madge, and more.

While the femcee/fashionista was recently caught fronting the latest Fashion edition of New York magazine, her faithful Barbs can now get a listen at her time with Seacrest after the jump:

Thanks Rap-Up!

I feel like if the producers from the Grammys picked that song out of other possibilities then they had to be setting you up for failure. That song was just plain bad and the performance was worse.

First time I ever posted on one of her topics but I just don’t get what she’s doing its like she’s trying to lose.

Btw Seacrest and whoever this woman with him are shady as hell on the sly.

Whitney Houston’s passing and comments by other female artists on twitter about selling one’s soul to “make it” are apropos re Nicki. I truly enjoyed her PINK FRIDAY album but didn’t agree 100% with her persona – the hideously outrageous fashions and dumbing herself down in interviews but I thought, ok this is just her mainstream start maybe she’ll have the confidence to evolve.

Sadly it’s not the case so Dear Nicki, you have lost another fan. I pray for your soul and hope that your journey through the entertainment history doesn’t end in tragedy.

You guys know I go hard for Nicki Minaj… however I was so disappointed in her last night. She was a stunt queen! Her appearance on the red carpet and her performance was nothing more than a gimmicky mess just to draw attention and create chatter & drama. There was no art involved, no talent, and most of all… no integrity.

it pisses me off because SHE IS BEYOND TALENTED. She can write, rap, sing, and has crossover appeal to reach the masses. yet she took the easy, stunt queen way out and performed a s***** song and performed poorly. Is this the sophomore curse? It doesn’t have to be. She must do better than this or she will lose out – period. And I say this with LOVE and admiration for the girl.

Step your s*** up, Nicki. Work with better A&R (in other words dump Safaree) and get material. Time is now ticking. ARGH it pains me to say it but it is what it is.

I don’t know why but up to this point, I just want Onika to remove her implants all together and act like a normal person.

I’m not here to support her foolishness, she’s famous now but are we going to let her reach the point of no return because of ‘FAME’? I feel like she’s trying to make a statement that I can’t read, and I’m growing tired of trying to read HER sh*t.

Most people just want a good song to wake up to. They don’t want you to sacrifice yourself, especially when your music SUCKS. I’m glad Lady Gaga and her didn’t win a damn thing. We want music, ladies. Put your gimmicks to rest.

You know damn well I don’t hate on Nicki… I love that girl and again I think she is super talented and will go far. But pulling stunts will only go so far. I want to see succeed! She deserves success! She doesn’t have to compete with the likes of Lady GaGa, etc because Nicki is in her own lane! Leave the f****** stunts for GaGa and do your thing!

I enjoy usually Nicki so much. The Roman Holiday performance – it was entertaining – at the same time I was worried for Nicki as a person and felt kinda sad as I watched. The song itself was not memorable or catchy. Love the usual Nicki fashion and visuals – the Barbz themes – the wigs – along with the the spit fire raps. But too much. She seems to have lost her way. She is somewhat of a newcomer. Not saying every song needs to be the same – but the music on one album should not be as if each song is being performed by a different singer or group – when in fact each song is the same singer. Sometimes less is more – or something like it. I understand Roman is Nick’s alter – kinda like Slim Shady / Eminem. But Em could sit in a room with no lights and just spit the rap – and it be powerful. And memorable. Could feel what is in his heart from across the miles – that is part of the genius of Em. He will get you to take notice without even having to see him – can hear the pain in his words and voice – and you know that it’s true. Just my opinion. I cannot remember one word of Roman Holiday – and my true love is music.
