In a time where best selling albums are few and far between, the success of Adele‘s ‘21′ has come as a welcome surprise to Pop connoisseurs the world over.
Averaging with 200,000 units world wide each week, the album’s chart reign is showing no signs of letting up, and now- find out why it is set to stifle its rivals even more this week, below…
In response to her major wins at Sunday night’s Grammys, the US public is set to purchase 500,000 or so copies of the LP this week, more than a year after its release.
If this come to pass, she will actually best her the project’s first week sales, which saw her move 352,000 units in February 2011 and coincidentally spend its 21st week atop the Billboard 200.
This, extending its lead as the highest selling LP of the century and bringing it one step closer to matching or exceeding the sales of Michael Jackson‘s ‘Thriller’, a feat once thought to be impossible.

For the fact that Thriller is still selling to this day & has passed 110 million I doubt she’ll pass him. However I do think she could end up having the biggest album by a FEMALE solo artist. I mean she’s already close to 20 mill & it’s only been a yr.

She is at 18 million albums… Thriller has sold over 110 million copies. And within a few years of its release in the 80’s it sold 11 million a year consistently. It’s a houshold staple. She’ll be lucky to be included in the top 50 best selling albums. wtf? Let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
@TAYLOR SWIFTS NUMBER 1 FAN!!! Thriller has 60 million confirmed sales in the Western world, but the RIAA and Soundscan have estimated global sales exeeding 110 million copies. It has sold so much it’s off the raidar so I doubt anyone would beat the record. Congrats though, I do like her. Though she’s nothing new.

Don’t know how she can get away with misrepresenting her body this way without criticism by the media. Otherwise the sales are great but I can’t help but wonder who is STILL buying the album. I thought most people were already in love with RITD. That song has been playing EVERYWHERE for months, not to mention the other hits and media praise, and 500,000 more people are just now figuring out that they want her album? Call me a hater if you’d like but you would be inaccurate. True Adele is not my favorite artist but I thinnk she is great and deserves her success. She is definitely one of the artists who I respect as talented and one who I’ve enjoyed occasionally listening to for a good while now. Both of her albums, especially 19, are great and she has a strong soulful voice but at the same time that doesn’t change my suspicions over the sales quantity.
