Yesterday, after a number of seemingly uncertain years, Jay Z introduced Brit belle Rita Ora to the world.
Premiering her debut single ‘Party‘ on New York’s Z100 , the star’s launch was welcomed by long time fans, who have been anticipating her project since she signed to Roc Nation in 2008.
However, today has seen Carter’s motives for pushing the star thrown into question.

According to various reports, Roc Nation’s decision to launch Rita yesterday was in a response to controversial moves recently made by Rihanna, who is also signed to the Rapper’s management company.
Controversial moves, which saw the Island star team up with Chris Brown for two new singles, three years after the latter pleaded guilty to assaulting her.
With claims that the songs were recorded against Carter’s will, reports indicate that he is grooming Rita to replace Fenty as Roc’s leading lady, to insure himself against her leaving the company as a result of her actions.
As fantastical as this sounds, it is anything but far fetched.
For, it’s no coincidence that Rita’s knee jerk debut comes days after Rihanna’s backlash.
This, coupled with her failure to generate sales worthy of the budget he has given her over the years, is reason enough for Jay to turn to Rita to rectify her mistakes.
Almost -we posit- in the way a parent invests their hopes and dreams into child #2 when child #1 goes astray.
Here’s to hoping this isn’t in the case, and that Jay isn’t too peeved by Fenty’s antics.
If this is the case, Rihanna may find herself playing second fiddle once Rita’s campaign sets sail this summer, and ultimately cast aside if sales of this project exceed her own.

I have a gut feeling this isn’t just rubbish. I don’t think anything concretely proves that these are Jay’s intentions, but some of his actions have always been questionable when it concerns Rihanna. Lady CaCa is right. No one’s position in the music business is automatically secure. And we’ve seen time and again moguls replacing their “bread and butter” star with acts who’re not only newer and younger, but more willing to be controlled. Diddy replaced Mary with Faith. Tommy replaced Mariah with JLo. Rihanna isn’t the fresh kid on the block anymore, and TTT isn’t burning up the charts. The industry is always looking for something and someone new to get behind. Remember Gaga was supposed to own 2011, then came Adele.
This Rita person, whoever she is, is signed to the Roc Nation label. That, in and of itself puts her more closer to the company’s fore than RIhanna, who is only a managed client. If they can generate a real buzz, create public interest and get her some solid hits, then I guarantee that she will become more of a priority to the company than Rihanna is…no matter how much success she’s had with them, or how much of a “name” she might be.
Furthermore, Rihanna is a “pop star,” but she is not powerful…and doesn’t have the clout to go to war with Jay-Z over creative differences. Remember when Kelly Clarkson tried to do battle with Clive Davis, and he withdrew all promotion from her and her album flopped? And this was when she was coming off of a huge seller.
If Rihanna dares to become a problem child for Jay-Z or Def Jam, then not only could he/they take attention away from her…but they could in the meantime sit on her and not allow her to leave. Even if they do let her leave, she could be badmouthed and possibly have her blacklisted. And even if they don’t try to hurt her professionally, whose to say they she could hook up with a new team that would “get” how to promote her as well as her old one did?
Rihanna doesn’t have natural talent or natural appeal. She was MADE by a team of crafty executives. Doesn’t matter how many records or hits she’s had, she CAN be replaced. The same way they gave her her clout and outfitted her with hits is the same way they can take it away and give it to someone else.

Her voice does not fit the music that shes doing. she has a soulful voice it dose not blend well with the pop sound shes going for. Rihanna is Rihanna no one can replace her. She has made her mark on the world. Rita will most likely be successful but not as big as Rihanna.

The point is not whether she will replace Rihanna. It’s what RocNation’s plans are for Rita. You have artists like Beyonce and Gaga who had to work their asses off to get where they are and then you have those who get lucky with a strong team behind them way before they get introduced to the world. Rihanna was one of those but she also has some kind of spark to her that just screams IT FACTOR!!! Put those 2 together and you have an international super star.
You can have a strong team but If you don’t have a appeal to you WHATEVER YOU LOOK LIKE it won’t happen. example Cher Lloyd…I don’t see it happen for her. As much as I love and respect LA Reid. Just let it go brah.

I wish Rita well in her career, but just for the record. She is not in the same league as RiRI. That RIP song sould have been given to her as promised! It would have generated big bucks for RocNation and Family. Silly Rabbit Jay – tricks are for kids.
I also agree with the comment that Bey has something to do with this. She has never been able to take competition well and is very jealous of the success RiRi has achieved. She fired her Dad so that Jay could manage her career, and we all know that Jay has been very laxed in his duties as manager for her over the last year or so.
