‘Peacock’ performer Katy Perry unveiled her colorful ‘Teenage Dream: Complete Confection’ cover today much to fan delight. And, as ever to keep a smile on her ever faithful fanbase’s faces, the former Mrs. Brand is debuting the first offering from the repackaged set – ‘Part Of Me’.
Set for release to digital retailers on February 21st, this won’t be the first time the track has seen the light of day as an early leak made rounds on the net in 2010. If the song is set to be retooled has yet to be determined.
But what we do know is that you can take a listen to ‘Part’ after the jump! Get into it below:
‘This is the part of me that you’re never gonna ever take away from me’
The lyrics certainly come in a timely manner given the surface of news today that Perry’s divorce settlement allowed her to keep all of the $44 million she amassed during her marriage to comedian Russell Brand.
Fun and upbeat, this empowerment anthem sonically falls in line with most of Perry’s offerings – in the lane of nondescript. If sticking to the tried-and-true formula is what Perry needs to best Michael and Janet‘s records has yet to be proven. For, if this week’s charts are any indication, clearly ‘The One That Got Away’ is truly the one that got away from (and in the way of) cementing Katy’s name in the record books.

Billboard supposedly recently changed their rules about RE-RELEASED albums. So the singles released from the ‘Teenage Dream The Complete Confection’ album, will chart as its own album’s singles…
Therefore if “Part Of Me,” reaches #1, or either of the 2 other new songs from the re-release, she will not beat MJ’s record. Sadly I really wanted to see that too: (
Oh well, she technically still could build up hype with some new single(s) and then release “Hummingbird Heartbeat” or maybe “Peacock” and achieve 6 #1s from ‘Teenage Dream’ cause those wouldn’t count toward ‘Confection.’
