Get familiar with Melanie Amaro‘s ‘Respect’, her take on the Otis Redding classic of the same name.
Remixed and reworked for the clubs, the jam arrives days after a sneak peek of her ‘Pepsi’ commercial emerged online, and months before the release of her debut LP.
Listen below…
Kudos to Melanie for breathing new life into this track, without taking too much away from the original version.
Sure to set many a club alight, we hope her album showcases material like this while serving fans the depth and soul that helped her win that $5 million contract.

That doesn’t even sound like her. But it’s ok. I want an ORIGINAL song now.

I like how they gave the song a modern Dance feel to it… But I do’t like this to be her debut single AT ALL! Even if it is just a promo single because she sings it in the Pepsi Super Bowl commercial.
It’s 3/5 stars for a good attempt at making Melanie appeal to her age group and people who are older as well. Not exactly what I hope her album sounds like. NO MORE COVERS already! ! !

Man, I kinda hate it. Why does Simon always do this? Why\s he such a band-waggoner?

I admire Melanie for having a great voice and reppin for the West Indians (sorry RiRi) BUT I can’t wait till this EURO dance trend is over already! Bring back the classic R&B and Soul dance vibes.

She sung very well. She has talent. They should release this now. This is how you sang over a dance track.

Not the version 4me BUT she killed on vocals.
Good that her soulful vocals can be applied to other genres, without her compromising her abilities and strength & power of voice
