This week’s From The Vault serves up “filthy” in earnest. And we’re unapologetic too. For, there’s something to be said when such a risque cut wraps it’s legs around Pop culture, gripping it until the masses can’t but sing along. No, we’re not talking about Rihanna and Chris Brown‘s ill-prepared ‘Birthday Cake’.
We’re talking Khia‘s ‘My Neck, My Back (Lick It)’.
Released over 10 years ago from the femcee’s ‘Thug Misses’ debut, ‘Neck’ has become somewhat of an underground classic and easily rapper’s most renown effort to date. Reaching the 4th position of the UK Official Singles Chart and peaking inside the Top 50 of Billboard’s Hot 100, the “pleasure-manual” is considered by many a guilty pleasure. For as “taboo” as it may be for some, it’s near-impossible to deny the track’s heavy dose of “infectious”.
Diane Martel was tapped to direct the song’s pool-party video. And, though another promo visual (featuring models in bikini’s lipsynching to the track) was later commisioned (the ultimate shade, right?), we’d much rather see the self-proclaimed Queen of the South show folk how to “do it, do it” herself.
Enjoy… just make sure mom is not around when you hit ‘PLAY’!

I don’t care what you say.
Crappy video, Yup!
No real career after this song (besides her Janet feature), Yup!
Was this song the jam/catchy as hell, YUP!
Khia may be a (no?) 1 hit wonder, but still this song is classic. Weird now that I think of it, how did this song even get spins on Top 40 radio stations back in the day? Being so dirty, and like how did they take notice of her? I remember thi being on the ‘Dark Angels’ show I believe soundtrack, don’t even recall what that show was about or who it starred. Anywho good luck in the future Khia, LOL!

To be honest, i really think Khia should have been featured on Rihanna’s “Birthday Cake” song and not Chris Brown. He did NOTHING for the song as far as it being “dirty’. Khia would have brought so much more on the track than him with her personality alone.

I hear Khia’s working on her new album this year and its gonna be a double-disc album with one side “Hip-Hop” and the other side R&B. I would love to see how her singing voice is, i remember hearing some of it on a video on Youtube and she sounded great to me. I wouldnt mind seeing her back in the game. She really does have some great songs and great talent if more people would give her a chance.

@XOXO I know that & she did get alot of people talking cause Chris was simply on the track, but “musically” speaking she should have gone with Khia and alot of people recommended her in the first place.
