Following her death, reports of a Whitney Houston biopic have become just as speculated as the untimely tragedy itself.
Said to be orchestrated by Houston’s long time friend Clive Davis, the last few weeks have seen the likes of Jennifer Hudson, Meagan Good and Rihanna named as possible contenders for the starring role.
So now we want to know.

I def do not think Jennifer Hudson should get the role, she looks nothing like or sounds like Whitney. Everytime there is a big biopic everyone goes to her as the go to person. Def not Beyonce! I think it should go to an unknown actress through audition process but the issue are there many people out there with a voice like Whitney’s? Her voice was very integral to her entity. The actress that gets the role does not have to be a singer. Rihanna’s too light for the part, and I’m not here for any “Blackface Bey” shenanigans. Anyone who’s seen “Eve’s Bayou” knows that Meagan has chops, and the only thing holding her back from Emma Stone, Meagan Fox status is her skin color and the fact that marquee parts for black actresses are too few and far between.This is the type of opportunity, that if done well, and with the right backing, could do for Meagan’s career what Star Trek and Avatar did for Zoe Saldana.

Singing has nothing to do with it. The actress that gets the part doesn’t have to sing. Marion Cotillard won the best actress oscar in 2007 or 2008 for playing French singer Edith Piaf, and Marion didn’t do any singing.

Monica and Kelly Rowland would simply make people feel that their watching the life story of Monica and Kelly Rowland. I don’t think that would come across well. I might have to go with Sanaa Lathan(ofcourse she would have to slim down), but I think there’s potential with her. If Cynthia Bailey (from the Atlanta Housewives) was a serious actress she would have this on lock! I think Whitney’s biopic needs to be handled properly, so it’s most likely that it should be given to an unknown actress to portray her.

Paula Patton hands down. You dont need a singer – no one sounds like Whitney anyway… you need an actress. Music can be dubbed, lip synced – acting cant. Paula all the way – they are the same height and body structure and she can act. I like the producers who did the movie “Ray” with Jamie Foxx do do the biopic on whitney. If done right… this could be a oscar nom flick. If done wrong you do s*** like Clive Davis – just for the buck. Wish he stop promoting that fat f*** Jhud. They should have an unknown/new actress play the part, a la The Temptations biopic, the Jacksons biopic & Notorious. But this is a little different. Because Whitney was such a well-known, unique, un-replicated iconic figure and voice, any other famous artist/actress will have a hard time convincing audiences of that “Whitney” connection/character, since NO ONE, and i absolutely mean NO ONE can do, duplicate, look or sound like Whitney even to the slightest degree. I dont care how many Jennifer Hudsons or Monicas can cover her. She is the epitome of ONE OF A KIND a la Michael Jackson. Just saying but Jennifer Hudsons idol is Whitney. It would be a very emotional and powerful role for her. Though with that, I think it is a bit early for s biopic. Firstly, Whitney’s voice is too distinctive, impressive and iconic to not be dubbed and used in the movie…, movie goers will be fully expecting to hear ‘TheVoice’ in the film and to not use her voice in a movie about Whitney Houston would be blasphemous. Luckily, there is likely hours of unheard recordings and acapellas available for inclusion.
Secondly, only a talented ACTRESS should touch the role. Its to soon for that. but it would take atleast two or three females to portray the life of Whitney. and it should be someone who can sing or lipsync their a** off. but the Whitney movie will not be a good movie unless you told it all, which means the directors and produces would have to go behind the families back to get a scrip that isnt sugar coated, as far as finding a actor it depends how they auditions, majority of the film requires a young Whitney from the age of 13 to 18 then some one to transition from the 20 to the 40’s Whitney. So they need some one who can act like Whitney but also with a youthful look . people say no to rihanna but she actully looks like a young Whitney, I’ve never seen her act and she could mim the words like Angela Basset did in ike and tina.
It needs to be Paula Patton she has whitneys smile grace and still looks like she can give attitude she needs to lose serious weight for the role and get a tan but she is the closest thing to whitney I have seen. I would say Rihanna as well because she has some whitney like mannerisms and can rock the whitney curls like no other but this is a job for an experienced actress and though J.Hud has experience she aint got the look.
