Ashanti Explains ‘Braveheart’ Concept/ Talks Keyshia Cole Collabo

Published: Thursday 15th Mar 2012 by David

Last week, Ashanti unveiled the name of her forthcoming LP, ‘Braveheart‘.

Releasing the project’s first video two nights ago, this week saw the star grace Philadelphia’s Power 99 for a truly insightful chit chat.

Get into their conversation below…

On the album,she explained:

The metaphor that I took was basically in the movie you have the Europeans, you have the soliders from London and the U.K.They have the big horses, they have the shields, the guns, the weapons… They’re all armored up. And then you have the Scots.

They’re all raggedy, homemade weapons, and paint on their faces. It’s not an even playing ground, so I feel like with the [major labels], they’re bossed up. They have the big engine and all the artists signed to them and with the indies, it’s depending. It’s homemade, it’s homegrown. It’s a lesser engine.

So the metaphor I was using was being brave and putting your blood and guts into it and fighting passionately to win.

Dishing on her work with  Keyshia Cole, she revealed:

The record I have with her is dope. I love it.

@Jordan Seriously, what really makes her smart? This flop song and music video?

This is really a stupid move, people get your facts straight and stop praising her for those old priceless moments from the past, facts are facts.

Her comeback in 2005 was much bigger and better than this though..

She is smart to STILL be in the game 10 years later with a solid fan base. Her songs are always relatable and all of her videos are on point. I’m definitely going to buy this album. Her first album was a classic and the declaration was underrated. I think braveheart is going to put her career back on the map. Go Ms. Ashanti

    @christine

I dont mean to lol but where is her solid fanbase? She’s in the game ….. Barely hanging by. She’s not viable enough to hold a record deal so she has to resort to launching an indie label. I dont really rmbr any of her vids, they’re as average as the next. If anyone deserves credit for consistent vids. I’ll say Missy Elliot, Eminem n maybe Gwen Stefani n Rihanna.

Her 1st is a classic? Hmmm 1st im hearing this, very relative terminology
Declaration is underrated? Dont they say that about every flop album these days lol, where’s the critical acclaim?

    LOL @ Grammy Dammy Sammy

That about sums it up. Nothing to add. I’m not an Ashanti fan nor a hater. I don’t check for her music, but if she drops a hot song, I support it.

That said, I think she should go back to her roots making catchy hooks with catchy beats instead of trying to “expand her singing ability”.

^^^^^^ We clearly have two ashanti haters on this post like really y’all had time to hate?? Who’s does that last time I check Ashanti is about her money and dgaf about the lime light and being consistent releasing music she does movies and charity and other things that matters in life so stop hating until one of u break a record better yet get one hot single on billboards dont comment on anyone else that talented thanks..
