New Song: Ameriie – ‘Every Time’

ameriie New Song: Ameriie Every Time

It’s been three years since the artist formerly known as Amerie released new material.

Now going by the name Ameriie, the singer is gearing up to release a new EP, ‘The Prelude’, the first of taste of which she served up today in the from of ‘Every Time’.

Take a listen after the jump…

While  somewhat uneventful, the cut serves as a solid throwback to her more soul-flavoured days.

However, given her lengthy absence (a period which saw her marry manager  Lennie Nicholson), we’re not sure a “prelude” is what the Career Dr ordered. She needs to strike and strike hard.

Immensely talented, the ‘One Thing’ singer has had the unfortunate happen-stance of never quite having the right team or material when it matters most. And with her last “hit-hit” being over six years ago, it’s relatively imperative that she smashes this go round. For, as the sales of her best material highlight (see: ‘Because I Love It’), the industry is oft unfair and unforgiving, willingly leaving behind the talented who don’t meet certain commercial benchmarks.

  • @OFCOURES Umm you’re wrong! Back in 2010 it was already a fact that Amerie’s new album would be coming out in 2012. Maybe all them other underrated singers dissapeared cuz of Bey… but not Ameriie tho!

  • Okay. I don’t even like Amerie…I mean Ameriie but I do like this track. Probably won’t be buying her album though, but I will check it out and see if there are any single tracks to cop.

  • It’s a cute song. Wear some real good head phones like Beats by Dre or Bose and listen to all the effects in the song. It may not be the best first single choice, but it is definitely some good r&b music.

  • I’m feeling this track. Finally, artists are starting to keep their integrity and doing music that feels good to them. I see alot of the r&b artist are standing their ground and reclaiming their sound which in all honesty, most of them and fans like me can’t live without. Its the soul behind the music and the lyrics that pop music just can’t replace. That will never die.

  • I like it, I just don’t love it. The melody’s lacking a bit, if you ask me.

  • She added the extra eye for legal reasons & i love the song she’s a smart girl she’s doing the indie thing right now like ashanti so its better to test the market an see what works before putting tons of money behind something that doesn’t.

  • Amerie!!!! (Well….Ameriie). “One Thing” and “Why R U” was my shit! Glad to see her back, in better shape than Ashanti and the other girls.

  • hmmm judging by how long its taken here to come back out and the name change it could;ve been a legal issue with a label. (unless the extra i stands for 2 as in herself reinvented). either way this sounds like a nice track for the album. I wonder if she’s still working with Rich harrison, bc they made magic together…thats when she started to cross over, but as a Beyoncé fan myself I have to keep it honest and fair Beyoncé definitely noticed the crossover and then hired Amerie’s meat and potatoes aka Rich Harrison to Produce for her album B’day in which I believed he produced 3-5 tracks…so umm yea after that, I didn’t hear much Amerie anymore. Once that signature sound was shared, it was basically a wrap. Which is sad because there should be enough room for both to succeed. Maybe it was a problem of loyalty maybe it was just something else. Either way Ameriie (lol) is very talented I’m sure she has enough fan base to bounce back with the perfect record.

    @MUZICPRO

Bey worked Rich Harrison on DIL. u might have heard one of the resulting tracks, a lil song called ” Crazy in love”

  • Let me just correct myself after some research. Rich Harrison produced Amerie’s first album, Beyoncé recruited him to do “Crazy in Love” (hint hint) THEN he produced Amerie’e “One thing” & then Beyoncé recruited him again for B’day (Suga Mama/Freakum Dress/Creole. No shade to either ladies, I dig um both. An interesting fact though that I didnt mention before most of his biggest hits with both ladies where soul samples mostly from the group “the ch-lites”.

  • @Grammy Dammy Sammy …yup you are absolutely right. That was after Amerie’s Debut album and before main stream success of Beyoncé as a solo artist. Beyoncé herself even mentioned how she was first unsure if she even wanted to do the record because of the horn samples sounding too vintage…it was in her own words Jay who said he thought it would be dope. Trust me I wouldn’t accuse Bey of nothing I love Beyoncé, I’ve had a few short conversations with her over the years in fact. Much luv to you!

  • He also did Jennifer Lopez “get right” around the same time, lol dude was on fire. I thing the classic “amerie” sound like I said became too spread out, including all the producers trying to recreate the same sound inorder to strike a hit. smh still goes on today

  • honestly the reason why 4 didn’t do well is because Beyonce doubted herself. She though that people wouldn’t like the direction she was going with her now maturer music so she threw Run the world into the mix and put it as a lead single so people would think that it would be uptempo. It didn’t work out but she still had impressive sales. Just because she didn’t do as a good as her other work does mean she flopped.

The song is OK,ameriie can do su much riskier and better than this.
She is a beast when it comes to “beat and production”

Bey jacked her producer like JLO did with kat deluna but Bey and her worked almost the same time with Rich.Bey had more budget,a great MANAGER at that time. Now she is a flop…at least bey brought R&B back on the radios beside the flop era.

    It’s cute :) It’s probably a grower

  • Beyonce supposed flop era has more real r&b then any album excluding Dangerously in Love. It’s not Single Ladies, If I were a Boy, and Diva. It’s real Love on Top End of Time, I Was Here. Our ears are so accustomed to hearing Beyonce on a hip-hop beat made in a factory that when she did real instruments people didn’t feel it right away. As Beyonce said they are not hits they are growing music. accept run the world… it needs to be cut from the album.

  • LOL DO YALL REALLY THINK BEYONCE WANTED HER ALNBUM TO FLOP PLZ U BEST BELIEVE SHE WILL BE HOPING ON THE UPTEMPO DANCE BANDWAGON WHEN HER NEXT ALBUM COMES AROUND

  • Im feeling this, most of her material is very UNIQue and when she puts material out i will be PURChasing…

  • This is why i love Ameriie. She keeps bringing me music like this, sounds like it came from the 90′s when diddy’s bad boy artist were running things. So what if she is a “flop” at least i have a good song to add to my ipod.

  • Let me add, people keep judging artists by their success and not their material, when it is only the material that makes them the artist not their success. That being said, Ameriie is an artist with a solid catalog of cohesive and consistent material.

    RIHANNANAVY CAPTAIN

    March 26, 2012 at 3:34 pm

This song is very cute…and the reason Amerie has not made it was because she was on the same label as Beyonce (Columbia) and Rihanna (Def Jam) and neither company wanted to put a lot of effort and dollars into her projects as they did with the aforemetioned.

Ameriie’s music has always been great, but will a record label pick her up and promote her greatness the way it should be done or just half-ass it like Def Jam and Columbia???

@GRAMMY DAMMY SAMMY @OFCOURSE and @Yc18 are a bunch of late queens who had to bring up FLOPYONCE’s name as well as her 4Closure album just to keep her name relevant. These Beyonce stans are FOREVER trying to keep her relevant. SMDH

The reason Ameriie has not ‘made it’ is because she is not a puppet like the others all the more reason why Ameriie is a winner in my book.
