After ample anticipation, Jennifer Lopez‘s new single ‘Dance Again (ft. Pitbull)’ is finally here!
Having premiered literally seconds ago on The Ryan Seacrest Show, That Grape Juice -as ever-has you covered.
Can J.Lo and Pitbull recreate the magic that rendered ‘On The Floor’ such a smash? Judge for yourself after the jump…
Pulsating and infectious, the track is undeniably a winner. The RedOne cut positions Lopez in her tried and tested mainstay (Dance/Pop), evoking a “worldly” sound in the vein of earlier releases such as ‘Let’s Get Loud’.
Yet, while it arguably tries, an ‘On The Floor’ this is not. For, the track stumbles somewhat with a cheesy weak chorus – which should, structurally, always be a song’s main strength. Yet, here the primary hook is trumped by the pre-chorus, verses, and overall production.
Still, the 42 year old seems to have discovered a forumla which is working for her at this point of her career. Why not max it out?

I wish she would go back to her urban sound. Love Don’t Cost A Thing, Get Right, If You Had My Love, So Good, Aint It Funny Remix, etc…
I do not like this direction with the electro inspired dance tracks. It’s not bad, but her urban material is just leagues better.

It sounds like a desparate Jersey Shore type jam that only lame Latinos will like. Everyone else in the world will sleep on it.
We all know that J.Lo will lip synch this song during her “live” performances.

I was rooting for her so hard, but I don’t like it. It’s not horrible, but it’s nothing special either. I really expected a smash, a track that would really impress me, but this is too generic and cheesy. The album tracks of ‘LOVE?’ sound much better than this song!

Funny cuz Rihanna’s “Where Have You Been” and “Only Girl” have this same sound! BTW at least JLO can actually put on a show. Rihanna can’t sing or dance… So please don’t comment, hun and sit ur ass down!

It’s funny how a lot of you on here endorse Rihanna whose music catalogue is full of songs that all sound like each other but turn around and tear about a song like this just because its J Lo and she does it better. I bet if Rihanna name was attached to this song more of you would love it.

a RIHANNY NAVY commenting about jlo single being generic and lip syncing a performance. child, reread what you typed. Rihanna has albums of generic shit, i mean albums! you complaining about a single. JLo is an official triple threat she can put on a show. Rihanna is a no threat singing songs for her songwriters with a producer on her right and an engineer on her left, they bank all the money. You a navy member and you making that statement? enough said. I hate these generic pop trash songs that sound the same as the one released everyother day but c’mon I will never agree to a navy coming for j Hoe. NEVER not like that. Bitch you need to refreash your memory go the youtube and listen to and watch rihanna trash lines

@ASAP :
just wait for the fuckin music video.
and i can’t with the lies in your comment like ” the tracks in Love? is better than this song ” !!
i don’t know what version of “LOVE ?” do u have , but this song goes hard , it is for the clubs and ppl who actually like to be happy and cheerful. and it did it’s job. Pitbull songs are for the clubs and J.LO songs ” her most memorable songs” are club songs like ” on the floor , let’s get loud and waiting for tonight” !!
so wait and let the song grow on you ….

I really LOVED “On The Floor,” Kinda wished the format for “Dance Again” would have been different. Make it a bit more shocking for the listener…
Like when you compare this song to “On The Floor” they both have the same structure:
Intro -by Pitbull
Verse
Chorus
Interlude* By Pitbull
Verse 2
Chorus
Bridge/Verse 3 -Pitbull
Chorus
-Everything not listed by J.Lo
*I guess that tiny interlude before the 2nd verse wasn’t in “On The Floor” but still…
Anywho I still like the song, not sure if I like it more than “OTF” at the moment, but another great hit from them…. WAYYYYYYY better than “Fresh Out The Oven” which had a super laszy feel to it.
I don’t know how you can say the chorus is not strong. I feel liek the beat during the chorus, is the best part of the beat during the entire song. It makes the song super catchy IMO. And not to bring other artists into the picture, but the chorus is designed to be that of a Dance song, just liek “On The Floor” very simple…. Just like the Calvin Haris written “We Found Love,” performed by Rihanna!
Anyway the chorus is my favorite part of the song!

I realize she can’t sing but after all the flops she had (last album included) ever since she changed from urban music for a more euro sound you would think she would want to go back to the sound that made her success. This song is generic and generic consumers do not seem to buy generic music from an older artist.
