New Video: Dawn Richard – ‘Bombs’ (A Must See!)

Published: Tuesday 27th Mar 2012 by Sam

Dawn Richard premiered the explosive video for new single ‘Bombs’ moments ago.

What are you waiting for? Set it off after the jump!

‘Bombs’ is as apt as a title gets; Dawn blew this all the way up!

From the choreography, to the cinematics, to the swag, the former Danity Kane diva delivered  on every front.

This is how to go the independent route and slay. Indeed, with this clip, Dawn serves up something the budget of a major label can’t buy an artist – raw hunger, actual talent, and drive. All of which show up and show out in this dynamo visual.

Fierce fire!

  8. antertain March 27, 2012

    Great effort!
This is true hustle and using connections gained well.

    I applaud this by Dawn

  9. MaZ March 27, 2012

Since her departure from Danity Kane, I never liked her. I found her arrogant and bitter regarding the situation and the other members of the group.

She impressed me a lot. I like both song and video. It’s fresh musically and visually.

Wish her all the best. She’s talented and brings something new to the table.

  10. ashgino@gmail.com March 27, 2012

okay, Dawn has been grinding for a long time for her solo shine. And I hate to say this, but it still lacked sumthing, I just dont think she’s captivating enuf for the camera?! She to me is more like a product than a “Star”…..she doesn’t have that IT factor ,…no goose bumps here?

  11. JP March 27, 2012

    DAWN!!!!!!

    U….BETTA….FUQIN WERQQQQQQQQ!!!!!!!!

This is how you bring it, Dawn. Keep up the excellent werq, boo! I’ve already purchased the EP from ITunes.

  12. christine March 27, 2012

I haven’t listened to the song or watched the video YET… I hope to be pleasantly surprised when I do. However this is the 2nd promo pick of Dawn that is VERY SIMILAR to Kelis’ Fleshtones Albumimages. I prefer originality. But I’m gonna give her song a chance to win me over as a fan. We’ll see……….

  13. Ciara Stan 21 March 27, 2012

    wow!……THIS S*** IS F****** FIRE!

  14. Tracy March 27, 2012

OMG , THIS SONG AND VIDEO GO HARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  15. christine March 27, 2012

OK Ms. Dawn you did a good job of singing the song. I didn’t care for all the hoochie-style dancing but I guess that is what is takes to win over the younger audience.

Still saw more of Kelis’ video images but I guess Dawn borrowed her image/style but took in a different direction. I will say it is a NICE SONG overall…if you like that kind of sound.

  16. lala March 27, 2012

Round of applause for Dawn! Love the video and the song.

  17. D.Strock March 27, 2012

How can you not like this video? Seriously…

  18. I’MJUSSSSAYIN March 27, 2012

  19. B4Real2 March 27, 2012

    Weerrrrkkkkkk Dawn WERK!!!!!

  20. MT March 27, 2012

that choreography slayed every dance routine thus far came out in 2012…. hell, i haven’t been surprised with choreography since Britney’s “Me against the music”!

This song won’t get radio treatment, but the video should garner her the attention she deserves.

    WERK!!

  21. blah March 27, 2012

Not feeling it, she looks so amateur, she’s been in it too long for this

  22. ChittyChitty March 27, 2012

Werq!!! You doin the damn thang D!! Ya’ll bet not come for her!!

  23. An0thrDream March 27, 2012

    This was iconic!!

I was NOT even close to being a fan of Dawn’s UNTIL I saw this video!

AMAZINGG!!!! I watched in awe this whole time , i had no idea she was capable of this! MAJOR PROPS

  24. Bry March 27, 2012

Mannnn DAWN is just that WORK!..farreal every since DK she was one of the stand outs to me…and as a solo independent artist, she definitely put her best foot forward, letting industry executives know what time it is…get rid of these non singing, non dancing puppets and get some real talent…Her first EP Was Fukin AWESOME, Vocally, Lyrically Amazing Production Was ON…and i cant wait to hear what “AmorOn” has to offer, hopefully she gets signed soon and by a good label, because she deserves a label that won’t hold her back, she has the Goods…COME GET IT!

  25. MuzikJunkie March 28, 2012

Dawn KILLED this f****** video and Armor On is AMAZING! Now this is true talent!

  26. Tiffany T. March 28, 2012

She doesn’t captivate me. The tribal treatment is so old. I hope she does well though. 🙂

  27. Jules March 28, 2012

The comment at the start, the beat drop!, the strings, and the beautiful people in this video MAKE IT FIRE!
And the jungle sounds in the background…

    Bombs away indeed!

Remind’s me of the first time I heard ‘Jesus walks’

  28. Vegas Girl March 28, 2012

YAAASSSS Dawn! That was NICE, I really enjoyed the choreography!

  29. Chile Please!! March 28, 2012

BEYAWNCE TAKE NOTES……THIS IS HOW YOU FAWKING BRING IT!! I THINK I LOST MY VOICE FROM SCREAMING SO MUCH DURING THIS VIDEO!
DAWN DAWN DAWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU SLAYED LEFT & RIGHT! ENOUGH SAID!!!!!! WERK B****!!!!!

  30. Saetana March 28, 2012

I’ve never heard of her or the group she came from – presumably they are American? The video is great, less enchanted with the song but I think it will grow on me.

  31. The Real B(randy) March 28, 2012

Sounds like Brandy 8 years ago. No shade. I do like Dawn but I think it’s because she reminds me of Brandy a lot. She’s like Brandy’s industry daughter. lol

  32. O_O March 28, 2012

    The Real B(randy)

Ok!? I get no Brandy in this song but you go head and reach for the stars.

  33. @peculiar_facts March 28, 2012

No one is looking for Dawn.

    @peculiar_facts

  34. JP March 28, 2012

    @ THE REAL B(RANDY),

I’m a huge Brandy fan and at times Dawn does channel Brandy in some songs, but I strongly disagree with you on this one. Nothing about this song reminds me of Brandy.

Please don’t be one of those delusional fans, it does Brandy and our cause no favors.

  35. pat March 28, 2012

yall BEEN sleepin on dawn…she’s a trained dancer…that bych can outdance damn near ANYONE in the industry right now….i’d love to see what she could do with major label backing

  36. Popeater March 28, 2012

daaaamn!! You better do it Dawn!!

@ ashgino@gmail.com. STFU unless you donating money to this project.
@ The Real B(randy). As a Brandy fan, this song and video reminds me nothing of her.

  37. jhonfajardo March 28, 2012

    eres unica y mas

  38. notadummy March 28, 2012

I like the idea. The delivery could have been a lot better. Dawn should have been dressed a little differently. i.e., wilder, larger headdress, different colors. Her dance moves were “C” at best. For goodness sakes, her mother owned a dance school. I expected more. I love the song though. I wish she could take that darn autotune out of it. Autotune makes it seem dated.

    Overall grade: B

  39. I&I(yardie) March 28, 2012

Song is nice but the vid is too boring. Fire, what fire? I hate with ppl applaud mediocrity

  40. I&I(yardie) March 28, 2012

the song is nice but the video is boring

  41. The Real B(randy) March 28, 2012

For the two above that wasted their comments on replying to mine, this reminds me of Brandy all day. The layers and the harmonies give ME, Brandy. It sounds like “List”. Yeah, the unreleased track. Yeah-HI.

  42. rockstarr3008 March 28, 2012

WOW! One of the best videos of the year by far, if not the best! Go gettem’ Dawn.

  43. Popeater March 28, 2012

@THE REAL B(RANDY). This sounds ABSOLUTELY nothing like The List.

  44. rob March 28, 2012

so since danity kane broke i hated Dawn HAAATED her , i watched in awe of this video as she slayed the choreography HOWEVER she was in Danity Kane and they always slayed choreography and Shannon, Aubrey, Aundrea and D.woods is what i feel was missing from this video,. Dawn does not engage me as a solo artist her vocals are very limited… go back to Danity Kane .

  45. roxie March 28, 2012

Beyonce (Who run the world) / Rihanna (Hard)…just executed better!

  46. christine March 29, 2012

C’mon now folks. Let’s give credit where credit is due. Sounds like some people are really reaching with all the criticism and it is unnecessary.

I did not care for that style of dance HOWEVER she did do a GOOD job at dancing this routine & she has a nice voice. All the comparisons to Brandy….I just don’t get it. This song/ video is not Brandy’s style at all. Let’s be supportive and try to be a lot less critical. Your opinion is YOUR opinion but be HONEST about it at least.

    Good Job Dawn.

  47. V March 30, 2012

Ive rocked with Dawn with Making the Band and this video was IMO her gold metal! Shes been on her grind and endured the sticks and stones that have been thrown at her. As a member of DK, as a member of Dirty Money and as a new addition to the solo world of R&B she has truly had her challenges and nay-sayers BUT SHE BLEW ME AWAY!!!
The choreography reminded me of the past and the future! It was everything! This humble woman oozes with talent and the reason why she will always be seen and heard is because unlike other acts shes not in it for the money nor fame simply the music! Dawn I will always rock with you and Im incredibly proud of you! You looked amazing as well!

  48. Andy August 28, 2016

    Great post.
