American Idol: Katy Perry Struggles During ‘Part Of Me’ Performance

Despite racking up quite the record on Billboard Hot 100 last year, Katy Perry remains one of Pop’s more frustrating acts.

Why, you might ask?

Well, despite serving up Premium Pop without a fail with every cut she releases, her live renditions of these cuts let her down- really badly.

Peep her stint on ‘American Idol’ last night and let us know if you agree…

    She did good. Y’all bloggers luv just picking on certain artists for no reason.

    • Sakeeta September 11, 2013

      Wow you are tone deaf if you think that sounded good.

      I can sing way better than that.

      Of course, I was offered record deals with tons of music companies. Turned them down cause I don’t want to be famous.

      Katy Perry sucks horribly and she deserves to die.

      Anyone who cant sing deserves to die.
      Anyone who is ugly deserves to die.
      Anyone who is stupid deserves to die.

      Lets make this world perfect, the way it used to be!

  2. ASAP (As Sincere As Possible) April 27, 2012

    I didn’t think the performance was bad at all. At least she’s trying to evolve as a performer. The vocals weren’t amazing, but they were by no means horrible and the choreography was a good effort granted that she’s not used to dancing.

    • Sakeeta September 11, 2013

      Yes it was horrible.

      If you cant sing, get the hell off the stage.

      Doesnt f****** matter how hard you try. STOP TRYING

      You obviously haven’t listened to other videos of her singing on stage. She is LAZY AND EVEN WITHOUT DANCING SHE CANT SING WORTH A CRAP!

  3. number1k9 April 27, 2012

    Say what you will about the vocals during, but the performance had the emotion it needed.

    ANNNNND not to mention, I have never witnessed KP go in that hard on any sort of choreography. And for that I say WAY TO GO KP! ! ! !

    Overall it was a great performance. And I def seemed like a pre-recorded live performance, and not a live TV performance. Still great!

  4. The real xoxo April 27, 2012

    why do people give these b****** dympathy points just because they are not lip syncing? she still sounds below average vocally. im tired of this overrated girl. any female singer singing on the street is better than her.

  5. Gagalala April 27, 2012

    At least she can sing live unlike britney!!!

  6. Gilberto April 27, 2012

    And no good vocals were given…
    DEAD @ some of you. Her performance was TERRIBLE. Anyone who appreciates real talent and listen to talented musicians knows that she sounds like sh!t. Sometimes my toilet’s flush sounds better than Katy Perry. This American Idol performance was beyond horrible. BUT, if you listen to Katy Perry, Rihanna, Paris Hilton, Rebeca Black, etc you don’t give a sh!t about good vocals. BYE!

  7. Gilberto April 27, 2012

    @Gagalala
    “At least she can sing live unlike britney!!!”

    Anyone can sing live, but only a few can sound great (which isn’t Katy Perry’s case). That’s why Britney Spears lip-syncs, she knows that she’d sound as terrible as Katy Perry does. This just shows that this generation of singers don’t have any proper training and most of them sound average. Katy Perry should lip-sync.

  8. gio88 April 27, 2012

    wtaching Her lives , make me understand why she is a close friend of Rihanna….

  9. Quin’003 April 27, 2012

    This talentless b**** needs to start lip-sincing.
    WHAT THE F*** ?!
    #smh.

  10. Dev April 27, 2012

    @GIO88 lmaooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  11. kimberly April 27, 2012

    @ Gilberto lmao, Let them know. If some artist can do it, so can all the rest. they are too busy trying to get #1 singles and cheating through discounting and payola they lose track of their craft. I swear this generation is s***. I mean that is what you people like and appreciate?

  12. jill April 27, 2012

    TRASH!!!! This is horrible… NE-YO was right!!!!

  13. Inlovewithbey April 27, 2012

    After hearing her sing live,I feel really really blessed with my voice….
    The power of auto tune

  14. Inlovewithbey April 27, 2012

    I gotta say,no hate for Katy but BEYONCE IS THE ONLY ARTIST WHO CAN SING FLAWLESSLY LIVE

  15. KAT DELUNA FAN April 27, 2012

    AWFUL AWFUL

  16. ASAP (As Sincere As Possible) April 27, 2012

    @GILBERTO

    Katy Perry never claimed to be a great vocalist. For her standards, this wasn’t a horrible performance. Besides, why did you have to start a whole rant to people who have a different opinion to you? Nobody said she’s the next Whitney Houston for God’s sake…

    • Sakeeta September 11, 2013

      Um excuse me but to be a singer, YOU HAVE TO BE A GREAT VOCALIST.

      You must be in special ed.

    • Sakeeta September 11, 2013

      Also, Whitney Houston couldnt sing worth a crap either.

      Miley Cyrus can sing live, with no problems, WHILE DANCING. Shes been able to do that ever since she started as little Hannah Montana.

  17. JohnVidal (RIPWhitney-true great) April 27, 2012

    @The real xoxo
    Exactly! The sympathy points Katy and Rihanna receive just for… I don´t know why, is laughable. Everybody who likes them is basic sorry. There´s no explanation

    @jill
    I agree Neyo is right. Labels need to stop this nonsense. It all went downhill after 2000. The crappiest decade in music history. And the new one doesn´t look good either except for some nice things like Adele. This has to end. Britney needs to retire (and her fans, people who were kids when she debuted need to get over it: you have grown up guys and the girl has not talent) and Rihanna and Katy´s labels need to forget them and spent all those huge promotional campaigns in talented artists. Hell from time to time they do it (Adele, Dido, etc) why not always?

    • Sakeeta September 11, 2013

      Adele sucks worse than Katy Perry lmao listen to some REAL MUSIC

  18. KAT DELUNA FAN April 27, 2012

    ^I agree,the more people tolerate mediocrity,the more mediocre artists will full the industry smh

  19. Draya April 27, 2012

    She’s awful, talentless trash…and she looks ugly as hell too. Her label should dump her and invest in people who are worth it. Let her sell her junk products to kids and leave music to people with talent.

  20. ASAP (As Sincere As Possible) April 27, 2012

    Oh Lord…are we actually getting a backlash for saying the performance wasn’t horrible???

    I’m not going to replay it, I don’t think it’s great, but I thought “struggle” was an overstatement given the industry’s standards and her very own past. Sue me!!

    • Sakeeta September 11, 2013

      Of course you’re getting backlash! CAUSE THE PERFORMANCE WAS HORRIBLE!!!

      You have to be a tone deaf special ed r***** to think she sounded even slightly okay!

  21. Gilberto April 27, 2012

    @ASAP (As Sincere As Possible)
    I’m tired of see people supporting mediocrity. I’m not saying that she should be an amazing vocalist as Whitney Houston, Adele or Beyoncé. I’m just saying that she should keep on tune and singing on key. Isn’t she a singer after all? Am I asking too much? Do I have to pretend that she did a good performance after seeing her walking around the stage with almost zero stage presence, singing off-key and dancing completly stiff? No! It was mediocre at best.

  22. AYNON April 27, 2012

    oh my god she sings worse live than Rihanna! oh well at least she tries….unalike Britney

    shes got nothing on B or GaGa who can actually sing live

  23. dee April 27, 2012

    This is so baddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd
    her voice i cannot stand this lame ass b**** voice
    arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
    how in HELL DID THAT STUPID ASS SONG REACH #!1 THE MUSIC WORLD SUCKS

  24. ASAP (As Sincere As Possible) April 27, 2012

    @GILBERTO I agree, it was below average, but I don’t think it was THAT horrible. It’s disgraceful when compared to ACTUAL vocalists, but when compared to current pop acts, it’s not that bad. I wouldn’t have said anything, but I feel like the few people here that said it wasn’t horrible (including myself) are being mocked. Just because I didn’t drag her, that doesn’t mean I loved it! Just saying…

  25. Siberian Prince April 27, 2012

    What eles is new???????? She struggles during EVERY performance.

  26. King Tasha April 27, 2012

    Yall know if Beyoncé came down that rope it would have been thee best entrance ever, Katy got shook and wasnt fierce, then she did a whole bunch of s*** and it was still boring and did yall see at the very end she looked like she was having a asthma attack lol

  27. JuanR April 27, 2012

    the wholle dance… RUN THE WORLD (GIRLS) too much?!

  28. ADELE: THE QUEEN OF POP April 27, 2012

    KATY PERRY SUCKS!!!!!!! SHEIS TALENTLESS & HER MUSIC IS MEDIOCRE AT BEST!!!! SHE HAS NO STAGE PRESENCE AND THERE IS NOTHING SPECIAL OR DEPTH IN HER MUSIC!!!! SADLY TALENTLESS “ARTISTS” LIKE HER GET SO MUCH SUCCESS AND PRAISE WHEN THEY ARE PURE GARBAGE!!!!! KATY PERRY IS ONE OF THE WORST LIVE SINGERS I HAVE EVER HEARD AND HER MUSICAL ACHIEVEMENTS ARE TRICKS!!!! SHE MAY HAVE TIED MICHAEL JACKSON FOR MOST #1 SINGLES OFF AN ALBUM BUT SHE WILL NEVER MATCH HIS TALENT !!!!!! THIS B**** FIFTEEN MINUTES IS ALMOST UP, WHAT THE F*** WILL SHE TALK ABOUT AFTER THIS CRAPPY TEENAGE ERA!!!! I CAN’T WAIT TILL SHE DISAPPEARS!!!

  29. Ssconstantine83 April 27, 2012

    After “ninjas in Paris” and also her lack of dancing ability as a pop artist, I don’t really see her standing the test of time

  30. NICKIMINAJDAPRESIDENT April 27, 2012

    Nothing New. Just Katy Perry Killing people’s ears with her straine voice as usual!

    LMAFAO this b**** cannot dance or sing. she has no talent whatsever and only teenagers are buying her crappy music and i dont see her being around for long

  31. Onyx April 27, 2012

    @JohnVidal (RIPWhitney-true great)
    Everybody has a space in this world so according to you those basket players who are short don’t deserve to do what they like, if you like Music and is your passion and you wanna do this, you don’t have a chance because your voice is not that good C’mon Man, if you don’t like Britney just don’t listen to her, it seems to me that you have an obsession for vocal ranges, keep listen to what you like and stop complaining, so i’m basic coz i like Britney and Rihanna but wait i also like Pavarotti so this make me a genius, i tell you this, if you only listen to Mariah, Whitney and Celine you are a bored person, i guess you don’t go to clubs, you stay home listen great voices, dude diversity is what makes the world beautiful no matter your voice, color, race, gender ect, ect….. Take care my friend.

  32. The One April 27, 2012

    @ ONYX You don’t have to have vocal range to be considered a great vocalist I think you are missing the point people who understands music are making!! Katty and Rihanna both are talentless individuals, which can clearly be seen from the live performances. Yes diversity does make the world more interesting, but lets have diverse artist with actual talent. Just becuase you like doing something does mean its you lame for e.g. I like play basket ball put I am 5’6 and not that great of a player, so should I be signed to a NBA team because I like playing basketball? LOL I think not, and the same should apply to the likes of katty and Rihanna and etc!!! To the musically inclinde, we have to start supporting real artists before they are no more and all we are left with are the Katty’s and Rihanna’s of the mucsic industry!!! That you sam for point out the truth!!! We need more like you because people now days are simple idiots.

  33. Onyx April 27, 2012

    @The One
    People who understand Music, so i don’t, here we go again, a black woman can’t have blonde hair because she’s black but a lots black women have their hair dyed, honey don’t learn french or italian because your british or American, i’m not a fan of Katy Perry but i find this kind of argument so stupid, people should do what they love to do.

  34. lolo April 27, 2012

    what’s so unfortunate for all the younger generations is that they’re missing out on so much of what used to be real music. i don’t care what type of music you were into there was a time that when you got up on that stage that you had to be able to carry a tune. if its too much to get up there with fireworks and fifteen million dancers turn it down a little and focus on a great performance where people get to actually get to hear what it is that you have to offer

  35. Saetana April 28, 2012

    The performance and military theme were fine, its nice to see Katy making a bit of an effort with her dancing. Unfortunately, her vocals were just as flat as ever. Her and Rihanna cannot hit a high note between them, although I prefer the sound of Rihanna’s voice of the two of them. I think Katy needs to come up with a different sound for her next album, Part of Me sounds like most of the other songs on the album and it is a sound that will grow old fairly quickly ;o)

  36. JohnVidal (RIPWhitney-true great) April 28, 2012

    @onyx
    No no no haha. Your argument is not valid.
    And I listen to everything. Right now I´m crazy about Florence+The Machine
    And you still can like and enjoy Rihanna, Britney or Katy´s music (well what they cook for them), that´s ok and most of us do when we are at a club. But they don´t have talent, and people know it no matter how much they enjoy their songs while drunk, and that´s why the fast food singles they release nowadays don´t make their albums sell like crazy like it should be with so many hits and radio airplay.
    Pavarotti? I don´t care about that… haha not interesting to me, but he had talent for what he did: opera. See?
    I just want a talented diversity 🙂
    Enjoy New York, we are still young… my brother was there last summer. I wish I could go

  37. jay April 28, 2012

    @lolo, agree with you

  38. jay April 28, 2012

    @The One ,also loved your description of what a real artist means

  39. Onyx April 28, 2012

    @JohnVidal (RIPWhitney-true great)
    I don’t like Katy Perry but like i say let them do their thing, by the way i also adore Florence my fav. track is Never Let Me Go.

  40. JORDAN IS THE BEST April 30, 2012
