This…AGAIN?Give it a rest aleady. I think she may be big in the UK like Alexandra Burke. Even Nicole Scherzinger has a #1 in the UK but is having a hard time crossing over into the US market. They are both completely different markets. I dont see her being a big star here but maybe it’s just me. The fact that someone has to explain to you that a chick with 90M tour grosses, 80-90M perfume grosses, 20+ million albums and however tens of millions of singles sold all off the strength of the name RIHANNA, has an established brand is the real tragedy here.
Rita needs to bring something to the game that we don’t currently have. That’s how you make an impact in the pop world. The best new artist this year has been Lana Del Rey, because her whole schtick brings something to today’s climate that until recently wasn’t there. To me, Rita’s voice and music are Jessie J-ish, but we already have a Jessie J, and her look is Ri-ish, and we have a Rihanna.

All this hype from TGJ and other blogs is really putting me off Rita, and I know I am not the only one. When someone or something is hyped so much, there is NO way people are not going to be disappointed. After all the hype I expected RIP to be brilliant, fantastic and, most of all, something a bit different as that is what it takes to succeed in the overcrowded and very competitive music scene (Gaga and Adele both have something different and that is why they got attention). What I got was a generic song that sounds like too much other stuff around at the moment, its not a bad song, its just nothing special. Her voice is the same, reasonable but nothing special. She has a nice body but isn’t as pretty as Rihanna and she cannot dance at all. What exactly is it about this girl we are supposed to get so excited over? Reasonable looking girl with a reasonable voice, all the Rihanna comparisons are doing her more harm than good as Rihanna, whilst not being a great live singer, does have something about her – attitude for want of a better word, Rita comes across as dull and try-hard (she probably isn’t but that is how all these over-hyping blogs are making her look). She needs to find her own music and her own space in the pop world, otherwise she won’t be around for long. We don’t need another Pixie Lott (who is a far better live singer), that space is already filled.
She has some good songs but sorry, to me she’s just a basic b****! I don’t think she’s gonna pass with her first album. and she can never be on the level of success of Rihanna. Sorry!
