Shifting over 8.74 million copies at retail outlets, ’21′ is the best-selling ‘US’ release, since Usher’s ‘Confessions‘ in the 2004, and is yet to leave the top 10 of the Billboard 200, notching 23 nonconsecutive weeks at #1.
This, making it as longest-running #1 album since Prince’s 1985 effort, ‘Purple Rain’.
As well as this, ’21′ is the proud owner of the top-selling digital single by a solo act in the US , with the now iconic smash ‘Rolling in the Deep’.
With over 7 million downloads in 67 weeks it is the second highest downloaded cut in US chart history, second only to the Black Eyed Peas’ ‘I Gotta Feeling’ ,with a cool 8 million million downloads since 2009.

Am i the only person that thinks this album is exteremly overrated? I mean i own a copy and its great but i really dont no how its doing this well as the are maybe 4 great songs on there and the rest are exteremly boring.. Awell im glad its adele getting this success and not some of other artists who just keeping putting out trash ft pitbull, david guetta, calvin harris ect to get a number 1 single.. Talent always wins in the end i guess! I mean adele won 6 grammys in one night for this album

i agree, it’s a good album, but its nothing we’ve not heard before, the heartbreak, disgruntled ex blah blah blah but her success gives me hope that the music industry has not completely toppled over its head. I have no doubt that talent can regain hold of the charts again and its already happening with Gotye and Fun. so if nothing else, the significance of her success justifies it .. if that makes sense lol.

For all of you idiots talking about her first album that went platinum and is now on it’s way to being certified 3x platinum. She’ll stay doing amazing things. Her album is incredible. Jazmine Sullivan’s voice is aight but her tone is way too scratchy. Adele is far more polished and her voice is much more cleaner than Jazmine’s. As far as Beyonce goes she has a little more range, but Adele voice overall is more polished, as far as the basics are concerned she makes it look easy.

Comparing this to Susan Boyle hype is stupid. Adele’s first album is already multi-platinum. She has proven she can sell, and her second album just validates that. It only shows she still has sales momentum, unlike some fake act I know who’s album sales have been decreasing every album she releases, or another fake act I know who’s second album’s sales is like half of her debut album. Adele shows that outside the rabid stans in the blogs, there are people out there who connect with her music and they have just dismissed all the other chart tarts (and that includes you – Beyawnce – outside your rabid stans, no one else is checking out on you).
If you remember back some months ago when Lady Gaga’s stans insulted Adele because she is fat, etc – well now, Adele has just decapitated your Caca & she is cleaning the floor with Caca’s big tranny nose.
Worst stans in the world who utilizes insults when they can no longer defend their faves – Monsters & Beehive. Pathetic.

Keep it real: Adele’s debut didn’t start doing big numbers UNTIL AFTER the hype of 21 and people went looking to see what it was about. Adele hasn’t “proven” herself to be a mainstay at all. Right now the industry and general public just sees her as this dowdy chick who was transformed into a Cinderella “darling” to get behind and support, largely because they see everyone else doing it. I’d be willing to bet that once the hype from 21 finally fizzles out and she takes a hiatus, then come back with another album, that it WON’T come close to the business of this one.
It’s the casual fans who are buying this album because everyone else is doing it that are keep thing afloat…and those fans will be the first to jump ship once this all gets cold. Then we’ll see what her real fan base looks like.
Right now, Adele hasn’t proven herself to be more than a passing fad…and the Susan Boyle comparison is apt.

Adele struck a nerve that’s all look for example at Mariah Carey’s album Music Box it took that album nearly 2 1/2 years to be certified 9x platinum and then another nearly 3 to be certified diamond while 21 will be diamond before summer is over
