New Song: Cheryl Cole – ‘Call My Name’

Published: Friday 20th Apr 2012 by Sam

Following the mammoth success of Rihanna’s ‘We Found Love’, Pop starlet Cheryl Cole has tapped the brains behind the cut, Calvin Harris, to helm her comeback effort ‘Call My Name’.

Having premiered literally seconds ago on BBC Radio 1, That Grape Juice has your first online listen.

Does the newly christened “Cheryl” (sans the Cole) deliver? The answer awaits after the jump…

An absolute ‘We Found Love’ rip-off. And much like sequels and imitations, it’s not a patch on its reference.

Will it be a hit? You can bet on it. For, what it lacks it authenticity, it negates with ample “current” and a wholly chant-able hook. No doubt, a radio smash in waiting – rendering the question of whether or not it deserves to be obsolete.

Wow We found love? It sounds nothing like we found love….. Its beats are totally diff and it actually has more lyrics……. I can’t believe now every dance song must sound like We found love smdh But hot *How do you think I feel when you call my name*

  2. Love on top April 20, 2012

It has much catchier beats than We found love & bring on the video *bbm dancing face*

  3. Adrian April 20, 2012

Very, very, very, very obvious We Found Love rip off….the fact that the first two commentators can’t hear that is a great example of how the general public accepts mediocrity as a “NEW” hit. It’s sad that we haven’t moved away from this nonsense yet in terms of what is hot on radio. This will NOT be a hit though because the vocals are weak and the hook is not as catchy as it tries to be.

I’m not impressed at all. Unless I’m taking shots in a club and dancing, I wouldn’t really wanna hear this. I’d probably change it in the car…lol. Sorry Cheryl!

  4. Call my name April 20, 2012

There’s A beat that sounds similar to We found love and I see a trend coming Calvin is gonna be the next Guetta repeat his beats. But the songs Can stand on their Own I like this one more actual lyrics

  5. A April 20, 2012

thought this was gonna be much catchier and strong….

but this feels a bit weak

  6. Ash April 20, 2012

Absolutely disagree. It sounds NOTHING like we found love. Which is a shame.

  7. JoArmy April 20, 2012

RIP OFFF!!!!!!! who cant listen and tell its WFL ugly stepsister needs to be shot!

  8. L.O.V.E April 20, 2012

How are you going to compare this to We found love When we found love sounds like every other dance song they all sound the same

  9. Love on top April 20, 2012

@joarmy Go buy Jojo flop singles pls lol what’s it called disaster That’s exactly how her next album

  10. Love on top April 20, 2012

@joarmy Go buy Jojo flop singles pls lol what’s it called disaster That’s exactly how her next album will turn out

  11. JoArmy April 20, 2012

@love on top its a pity uou know what her flop singles are. hahahahahahahaha such a shame your checking for her. 🙂 You should check for bey andher goblin of a husband and lets not forget her little troll.

  12. O_O April 20, 2012

Refuse to listen to it as both Cheryl & Tulisa make me wish there was a secluded island for people whos only talent is the ability to lust after and obtain fame only by way of a good spin doctor and other peoples talent. Heres hoping it does than Chavlisa though, or should I say Simons prototype Cheryl part II.

  13. Ana April 20, 2012

Not a bad song as such but it does sound overwhelmingly similar to WFL.

  14. kimberly April 20, 2012

why we found love? doesn’t all techno pop nowadays have the same sound. It’s the same. No real instruments in music these days .shame.

  15. kimberly April 20, 2012

Cole should put some instruments in that add some better lyrics and make a classic. That pop trend thing is s*** now. I ma tired of it. I don’t respect any artist who goes that direction for a paycheck

  16. Hello April 20, 2012

We found love is much better than this s***!

  17. -_- April 20, 2012

Ok it sounds nothing like WFL but it’s similar in composition. This has nothing on the latter though, it’s not as instantly catchy and the melody is not as memorable. In summary, it’s s***. I feel sorry for Calvin, will he ever create a track bigger than WFL, he set the bar very high for himself with that one. Only the best for Rihanna though. 🙂

  18. mr.m April 20, 2012

    FLOP!

  19. average April 20, 2012

she sounds like she is struggling to sing it …she needs the rest of girls aloud to share the vocals around, nadine can hit the stronger notes and the other girls give it more variety

anyway …the worst she does the more speed there will be for the girls aloud reunion

  20. harry April 20, 2012

Okay so you compared Tulisa’s Young to We Found Love, now this. Your Stupid its produced by the same guy it will obviously have a similar sound.

  21. Scott April 20, 2012

Just awful, she needs to stop singing

  22. BeyHive April 20, 2012

Oh super s*** this ain’t a come back tune guna enter the chart @#78

  23. xoxo April 20, 2012

*gags* the whole “electro dance” trend is SOO 2010. its boring now. cheryl you are beautiful but you cant sing for toffee. this is generic and no doubt it will be a hit because the general public like music that doesnt require them to open their minds. Cheryl the greatest hit youve had was the black toilet attendant you chav.

  24. KAREN April 20, 2012

Absolute rubbish/shite/crap. Alexandra Burke’s Let It Go s***s all over this but the radio will snub Alexandra for this crap. She needs to give it up now and stop trying to fool herself and her little teeny bopper army that she’s some kind of music artist.

  25. Bad ass April 20, 2012

@beyhive awwwww #87 is that cus all beyonce singles only go till there? Its a smash and We found love is just calvin harris very own “I’m not alone” lil sister and call my name is the middle child All catchy

  26. MK April 20, 2012

damn sam this iain’t no WE FOUND LOVE. HOT HOT HOT… NEVER THOUGHT ANY ARTIST WOULD MAKE A DANCE TRACK SOUND LIKE AN URBAN TRACK LIKE KELLY ROWLAND. CHERYL I’VE ADDED YOU TO MT LIST………. IT’S AN ABSOLUTE WINNER.

  27. ARYO April 20, 2012

    TRASHHH

  28. POP ROYALTY ( RUDE BOY) April 20, 2012

  29. Karen April 20, 2012

damn sam this iain’t no WE FOUND LOVE. HOT HOT HOT… NEVER THOUGHT ANY ARTIST WOULD MAKE A DANCE TRACK SOUND LIKE AN URBAN TRACK LIKE KELLY ROWLAND. CHERYL I’VE ADDED YOU TO MT LIST………. IT’S AN ABSOLUTE WINNER.
    _____________________________________________________________

MK: are you listening to the same tune as everyone else??? Cheryl is totally shite – she couldn’t carry a tune in a bucket even if she had help. She is a basic b**** with no talent whatsoever. Please don’t compare her to sista Kelly as she s***s all over her too. No contest

  30. paul April 20, 2012

Disappointing! I expected more from Cheryl Cole. I am a fan. I think she should have asked wil.i.am for a pop song, not this pop-dance-crap-uk-sounding-crappy song.

  31. Real Talk April 20, 2012

    STOP! JUST STOP!

  32. Jasmine April 20, 2012

I do hear the “We Found Love” similarities in the beats. They were both produced by the same person, Calvin Harris right? I am not familiar with Chery Cole but judging by this track she cannot sing just like Rihanna cannot sing. On this song there is obvious overlaying in vocals with the background singers singing at the same volume as the lead to give the illusion her voice is better than it is.

  33. Andre April 20, 2012

she shouldnt legally be aloud to make music or sing 🙂

  34. honeydip April 20, 2012

FOLLOW ME ON TWITTER @HONEY_DIP11 I FOLLOW BACK!

  35. Matty April 20, 2012

yeah o, sequel, sure, but do we really blamecheryl for it all? iknow she dont write this! mr.harris please stand up! but i still like it.

  36. Dev April 20, 2012

This is pure rubbish! & not because i dont like Cheryl Cole but because its absolute rubbish. I don’t like Rhianna but we found… caught me. This isn’t even catchy. Radio one will be all over this but they refuse to play Alexander Burkes songs, if this does better than Let It Go i’ll be vex!

  37. kweli69j April 20, 2012

she needs to stop making music…

  38. Kevin April 20, 2012

it isn’t as catchy as WFL nor as memorable… WFL’s beauty is the fact that it’s a simple beat and 7 word chorus….

WFL is similar, but not the same nor is it what she needs to break the US.

  39. jamie April 20, 2012

    @ Kevin

You lost me on WFL’s beauty.lol.
Anyways this sounds okay, but at least it has more words than 7 letters!!!!!!!

  40. jamie April 20, 2012

    *words

  41. GinaDina April 21, 2012

Cheryl Cole give up! This song would be good minus Chery Cole. Her Vocal is horrible!

Do you know what the funny thing is?

I wouldn’t be suprised if to hear that Cheryl Cole returns to the X Factor and takes Kelly Rowlands spot.
It is so obvious, because let’s face it, no one will be checking for this s*** without the brand that is ‘X Factor’ that seems to carry all of this biches material to success smh!

Britain brace yourself for another year of the most annoying woman on the planet, CHERYL COLE!

  42. paupreston April 23, 2012

    good song
