Teairra Mari Reveals Album Title

R&B trier Teairra Mari is still trying. And after a succession of scrapped albums, the starlet is finally gearing up for the release of her chronically delayed sophomore set.

Due later this year, the 24 year old has revealed what the LP has been christened.

Find out after the jump…

Talking to a Chicago radio outlet last night, Mari confirmed that the record is called:

Sex On The Radio

[ti_audio media=”73136″]

‘Sex’ is set to serve as Mari’s first “collective” for new label Division 1, which is helmed by hitmaker Rico Love. Here’s hoping he has the midas touch on the material front, because the title presents all sorts of problems from the jump.

Journeying back to her first outing, what stifled her -for many- was being “over-sexed” at such a young age (see: a 17 year old singing about “how to make a girl feel”). And granted Mari is most certainly now “of age”, trying to become the female Trey Songz (see: singing about “sex, sex, and more sex”) will only see her alienate a significant portion of a potential audience. Something, after 6 years of trying to sustain, she can’t really afford to do at present.

Still, the material could end up all sorts of banging and render the album title harmless. Time will tell.

Your thoughts?

Who is this again? The lil’ girl with No Daddy? Did she find his ass yet? Cuz she damn sure ain’t find the ingredient to success.

Oh well…I was really rooting for her, but she’s kind of lost me lately. I wasn’t alienated by her oversexual mixtape videos, I thought she was just hustling her way into the business, but she’s gone way too far with the s**-related songs and the album title is no different. I’ve been checking for her “album” since 2009, but I don’t think I’ll be on board if the entire album is about s**.

There is a difference between a leotard and a high fashion bathing suit. Chic your wearing a bathing suit not a leotard and you look a damn fool. But i like you anyway.

  14. Hot! April 9, 2012

Yall talk about Nicki minaj is right about blacks conforming but look this site and many others only seem to promote singers and rappers talkin bout the sterotypical stuff all day everyday. S** on the radio. Come on she couldn’t come with nothing better its time to demand better this is why people dnt sell like they use to because theres no true creativity cmon s** on the dam radio. THis has got to stop. Its time to use our voices for more than, Revenge, Anger, S***-talking, hate-filled, corny, sexed up, Lustful, and abusive lyrical music. Unless there is a greater point to the records then it seems kinda pointless every now and again aint bad but cmon….

How does this alienate a potential audience? As if singing about s** is a new thing. It’s been a theme of modern music since the 70s.

I’m not a fan, but I wish her luck. She can certainly sing heads and tails better than Rihanna and is more attractive.

She got vocals so i hope the songs material are the standard she needs.
Would like substance in her lyrics also.
I still believe in her talent as a singer

  18. The Truth April 9, 2012

First off I wanna say she has stated in a previous interview that the whole album IS NOT about s** she’s has songs touching basis on all facts of life including love, partying heartbreak etc. The tone of the album is s*** though! I don’t see a problem with it people have been doing it for years & she’s just being herself I like her & I like the fact that no matter what she’ll continue to put her best foot forward and keep it moving!!!! #TeamTeairra

I was rooting for Teairra. BUT her single “U Did Dat” was released LAST YEAR & her video was suppose to drop in February…WTF is the hold up?!?
