Rita Ora can sing, so can Rihanna.
Rita might blow up in a year or two, so no need to write her off.
As for Rihanna, she has accomplished more things than any artist that debuted in 2005 and after 2005. It doesn’t matter whether her music is “timeless” or not, because whether you like it or not, 20years from now, some of her songs will be remembered.
Sales aren’t everything, but they’re good. Sales doesn’t always equal “classic” and “timeless”. Look at an artist like Meatloaf, he sold tons of albums, but how memorable was he music?
While a number one album is good, I doubt that Rihanna is losing sleep over her lack of US number one albums. In the end, it’s consistent weekly sales that matter, and Rihanna is doing better than many of her contemporaries e.g Chris Brown, Katy, Lady GaGa.
As for the Beyonce/Rihanna comparisms, they aren’t really necessary cuz thery are not in the same musical genre. Obviously, at this very moment in time, Rihanna is more popular, kind of like an “it” girl, just like Beyonce was in 2003/2004. And Ashanti was in 2002.
Even if Rihanna stops seeing #1 singles or selling albums, she will have a movie career to fall back on, so it’s all good.
