Already one of the most anticipated releases of the year, the big screen remake of ‘Sparkle’ has the bittersweet status of being the last theatrical effort by the late great Whitney Houston.
Set for release on August 17th, the clip’s official trailer was released moments ago, showing Houston -who died on February 11th at the age of 48- in fine form.
Watch Whitney, Jordin Sparks, and co in action below…
It’s both saddening and uplifting to see Whitney in such fine form in what would become her last proper “body of work”. That said, the trailer holistically indicates that it will be a stellar curtain call for The Voice. Roll on August.

I’m shocked how good it looks! Honestly, I thought it was going to be kinda basic. Whitney looked stunning. Bittersweet that her voice and acting abilities had improved so much. Waiting to Exhale II would have been amazing!

omg Whitney looks divine and YASS for that top billing ..though who else was gonna get it? lol
i hope they put out a better trailer though, this one’s a lil sloppy, maybe the edited version will be more captivating. I hope the ww release dates are not too far behind the US one

People give too little credit to Whitney as an actress. And don’t forget she produced the film. This is her final and FINEST body of work.
If anyone wasn’t shaken by her performance of “His Eye Is On The Sparrow” they must not have a soul.

Seeing Whitney makes me smile and also makes me feel very emotional. She’s so beautiful and she is a great actress. I thought she was always one of the better singer/actresses around. Its not easy for them to get credit. I will support this and I look forward to it. I can’t say it enough, I really miss Whitney! This looks like its going to be a great movie.

I’m actually really surprised at how great this looks. Whitney is definitely carrying the film with her AMAZING talent. Without her idk if the trailer would even be as good, but I’m looking forward to seeing the film. I love the original soo much though so idk. There already a few casting selections that gave me the side eye, but I’ll wait to see the film in it’s entirety.

I was and still a diehard fan of the original. I was totally against remaking this classic. But the trailer looks pretty good. Whitney looks breathtakingly beautiful & she sounds good too. I just hope Derek Luke does justice to Stix character. I was so in love in Philip Michael Thomas.
