Beyonce is barely r&b these days, Chris Brown and Usher are mainly pop these days. Most of the “big acts” are not doing straight r&b, Rihanna is no different. Lots of people are moving into dance/pop music, even the rappers.

I don’t have a problem with them nominating CB, Usher or Rihanna because of their POP songs, because Billboard awards and mainstream awards give our black categories to white artist. LFMAO won a rap category this year, that was a joke. But I do think Rihanna should’ve been nominated for WE FOUND LOVE was the best video of the year and I think CB TUTM was also better than Beyonce videos. I agree with everyone, BET totally is kissing Bey and Jay if you notice they have the most nomination and Jay and Kanye artist has nominations, they owned and threw some money to BET to dominated the awards. If you notice Bey or Jay , didn’t get that many awards on the mainstream awards shows. Its all about power and popularity and who can make the most money for them. No one really cares about BET , but their award show has been getting better in last few years. Its going to be so easy to top the mess that was BBMA 2012. I dont agree with all the nominations. Kelly’s “Motivation” should be nominated. I think they want to beyonce to attend hence all the nominations. I think she should skip it.

Well not necessarily, 4 beat TTT for best R&B album at the Billboard awards and 4 was the best selling R&B album of 2011 so Bey has a good chance at winning best R&B female. Her biggest R&B competitor was Chris and they are in separate categories.

We are not talking about her album, what did her singles do? Her singles only went gold look it up. She sold based on her name, not because the songs were so good. Notice she have a whole lot of nomination at the Grammys or Billboard awards for her songs. She is nominated for her songs not her album, Party and Love on top, should not be video of the year, was nothing fantastic about those videos, no hating at all, there were so many good videos by other artist last year.

All these black/urban outlets have their favorites. Kelly should’ve been nominated and she really have several videos from Here I Am and BET only played MOTIVATION. That’s true, but you really can’t abandon your roots. She’s from the US & she has US fans that really want her music, So therefore, she has to cater 2 us. But she should do the international thing a little bit more, because she is more successful in Europe and in other countries. Kelly Performed Motivation at the BET awards last year, but what about “Lay it on me” ? I think Ashanti and Elle Varner should of been nominated for Best Female R&B artist as well, the best Male Hip Hop had a lot of nominees. I hope Ashanti performs The Woman You Love and Foolish, because I think she has grown a lot as a female artist in this industry. I think they set Trina & Diamond up for failure they both had mix tapes not albums so obviously Nicki Minaj is gonna win. I think Beyonce, Rihanna, and Chris Brown have all turned into pop artist, but they do deserve the awards they were nominated for. Hopefully a handful of young great singers do the Whitney Houston Tribute: Beyonce, Mariah Carey, Brandy, Ashanti, Monica, Jennifer Hudson, Mary J Blige, Rihanna, Fantasia, Keri Hilson, and Alicia Keys.

Blah blah BET awards is not a consolation show for people who cant get their music to appeal to to wide audience. How many people have heard SWV new material? So why should they be nominated? Cus heard it n think it’s all that. If that were the case, a milli people can name a milli underrated albums in the past year. Award shows represent popularity with the mass as it should. So SWV mission is to get the mass acclaim first b4 awards. It doesnt work the other way around

Beyonce deserves her nominations, end of story. If they had a best R&B song category Kelly would have been nominated but they don’t. Based on the performance of her album as a whole Kelly fans should not be surprised about her lack of a nomination. The video was too risque and one R&B hit with poor album sales will not guarantee a nomination when there are more successful artists to compete with. Maybe next time.

Sales don’t equal a nomination you fucking imbecile. Plus, Motivation was the biggest single out of the ones nominated. Let’s not get into Trina or Diamond’s poor album sales because they’re not close to what Kelly sold. They’ve never seen a platinum plaque, Kelly did.

But I’m glad Brianna perry is nominated for best female hiphop act. She’s dope. And YAWN at the female r&b category. Kelly Rowland should be there indeed. Motivation was a hot track.

Wow some of thes catergories are difficult to predict whixh is actually a good thing!
I just don’t see a clear winner: Best female artist could go to any of them. I eould say the same for Best Males although I would lean toward Chris, Trey or Usher.
Okay wait I smell bullsh** –> Video of the Year do they really only have Beyonce and Jayz in this category? It should go to Bey for eiither “Countdown” or “Love on Top” I really like coountdown though. they will probably give the award to Camel for “Otis”. They shoul hsve had TUTM inthis category, Anyay, I am ubder excited about the Best Video Director of th eYear Award. I would love to see Chris Brown and Godfrey Tabarez take it UTM is still one of my favoriet vids of 2012!

I don’t understand how “love on top” & “countdown” can be nominated for video of the year when they came in @ #99 & #41 on BET Notarized… Kelly Rowland “Motivation” came in @ #5 but no nomination?? Beyonce is great but those videos aren’t even the best vids off her album, “Run The World” was a much better vid & was #2 on Notarized. The nominations for the BET Awards aren’t based on album sales, its video performance.

This nomination list appears as though they nominated King Bey for every category with the hopes of her showing up to boost ratings. #sad. Let me start by saying kelly should be nominated for r and b artist and rihanna should not be there. The last time she had an r and b album was back back in da day and it flopped. I bet the navy cannot remember right?
1. i really don’t understand why you all are pressed about beyonce’s nominations. This woman is working hard behind the scenes directing and producing while yall fav stays on instagram, twitter and in the strip club. when she gets recognized yall want to make useless noise.
2. A complex video doesn’t make it great. Adele video last year snatched wigs on MTV and she was just sitting on a chair. Learn people learn. WFL was a pop video and promoted so much negativity. Rihanna doesn’t deserve any nominations for that crap, well maybe at the MTV. Don’t be surprise if she is snubbed again for her disrespectful attitude towards them in the past and recently. I hope they snub her again cause that bad girl attitude takes you no where.

She may not deserved two nods n one cat but 4 was an R&B album. BTINH, Party and LOT all peaked n the top 5, with LOT spending 7 consecutive weeks at #1. The Contempary Urban radio stations have recently just start playing Beyonce’s 4. They don’t cater to mainstream R&B acts. They cater to acts like Jill Scott, Eric Benet’ and Ledsi. If Beyonce wasn’t R&B, she definitely wouldn’t get any play that much on those stations. People need to STFU, if they don’t know WTH they are talking about!
