To be honest, “Motivation” was more of an urban pop/hip hop song than a r&b song. These award shows don’t really categorise music properly

Ppl are saying how Motivation was not R&B but honestly it was probably the closest thing to it with all the dance rapping & techno mess everybody else was coming out with. This award was deserving as was the Grammy but of course when you’re up against Kanye you’re most likely not winning even with Grammy fave Lil Wayne on your track. She may have been called a flop but truthfully speaking this one hit did so much for her this year. So imagine if she had done more with Here I Am in its entirety. Just a thought. But congrats are definitely in order for her & her sis Bey. DC still representing years after their disbandment. Kudos ladies!
