Meh. 4 wasn’t “poor selling” at all; the average “hit” album these days sells 1-2 million copies (U.S.) So calling it “poor selling” is a lie, unless you’re including 95% of what passes for a ‘hit album’ these days. The only thing about it that underperformed were the singles, but who cares? If your album can still sell what the average album WITH strong performing singles do, then you don’t really need them. It’s much more embarrassing when an album has a huge hit on it, and still doesn’t move a lot of units…*whistling*…Talk That That… When people don’t care enough to spend more than $1.29 on you, then that’s a problem. I’d MUCH rather be Beyonce than Rihanna in that (in several, actually…) respect. She got people to spend their $10 for her full album. Nobody trusts Rihanna past approximately $1. No singer should want to be a ‘singles act,’ there’s no money in it. The only people profiting from Rihanna’s “success” are her songwriters and publishers. That’s why she has to spend 2 years on tour and release an album every month in order to make what Beyonce does doing half the work.

As far as Battleship is concerned, there’s just no way to spin that one. It’s a total flop. The studio is losing its shirt because of how much that film tanked.
