Tulisa Shocks On Radio 1 Live Lounge

Published: Tuesday 1st May 2012 by Sam

Renown for her overall aura of “basic”, X Factor UK star Tulisa hasn’t registered on our radar much.

However, she certainly made us sit up and listen with her performance on BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge this morning.

Find out below if it was for good reason or otherwise…

While somewhat “shouty” in places and carried by the backing singers in others, the former NDubz singer turned in a surprisingly solid vocal performance. One that proves that, in spite of being “just there” in almost every sense of the word, she is making strides to improve. Will it see her become anything other than a “local” star? Unlikely. However, she could -listening to this- morph into an act genuinely worthy of success on her home-turf.

Peep her cover of David Guetta and Sia‘s‘Titanium’ below…

The only person “shocked” about this is your biased-assed self. She has a great voice for pop music and has always been a good singer (albeit in need of some vocal lessons for her breathing).

This is an awful performance! Out of tune and all over the place!

It’s not a suprising vocal she always been able to sing TGJ has just always been too stuck up to notice. I don’t love Tulisa but I can at least respect when someone has vocal capability.

“X Factor UK star Tulisa hasn’t registered on our radar much” <–LOL Tulisa registered on my radar for the 1st time after I saw her online s*cking that guys d*** and popping his d*** upside her forehead! #I'mjustsaying

Anywho, she sounds average, not bad but nothing unique or special. Jesse J & Sia sound better IMO.

    @ Sam —

Well, she’s light-years ahead of the almost-40-something-year-old Kelly Rowland..!!

@Mobwife, I heard ’bout that s** tape. So girl was all “happy on that man-meal”, ‘eh? Did you see, it? Can you furnish a link? <–inquiring minds want to know..

    X,Y,"and Z" — OUT…!!

Very strained but still better than most if not all of Kellys live. She has at least a bit of character to her voice and that is very sad that Kelly has yet to find that.

Damn that second one was very off key and average, but still…..she has a distinctive yet average voice. Still not a fan.

    @X,Y,”and Z”

LOL there was a link/video on twitter the day the controversy broke. I had never heard of her until that point. I’m not sure if it’s been pulled from circulation, but more than likely it has.

Also, FHM just crowned her #1 on their 100 sexiest women…LOL, I wonder why? It’s funny how certain ppl’s misfortune always turns into a benefit while others are forever castdown for a mistake they have made! hummm….

    *Media Tricks and Lies! 🙂

Not sure why you are surprised TGJ, she has always been able to sing live, remember a band called N-Dubz? Titanium was not the greatest chocie for her second song as Sia has a fantastic voice, I thought the same when the teenage girl did it on The Voice, trying to emulate someone else’s style never works. Of course it was sooooooo long ago, I’m sure you have an excuse for forgetting :oP

I agree with most of the people here, shes always had a great voice and always sung well live, this is the only site thats ever questioned her as a vocalist, she smashed it!!!

  15. shanay May 3, 2012

shes not amazing but she is good she can sing shes just not an artist really…! lol

Clip one: This is strained and forced. The only thing that saved her is the backing vocalists and the musicians. I personality don’t think that she has a unique sounding voice, the song stripped down makes you realise that the song is all courus
Clip two: She tries to emulate Sia’s tone on the song which shows as an artist she cannot make a song her own. Again she is substituting shouting for power and is doing the strained constipated noise at the end of each word. Clearly she is better than Ms Cole and Ms Lloyd but thats about it.
