Armed with a live band and Rihanna‘s missing talent, Ora gave all and them some on the show- marking her biggest appearance on UK TV thus far.

Though a little shaky on the verses, Ora’s overall delivery makes this best rendition of the song to date.
Interestingly, as she sounds better live than on her official releases, we doubt any of her singles will enjoy high chart positions without stellar performances like these. Performances, which breathe individuality into otherwise generic material.
Performances, which have us all too excited as to what she’s going to do next.
For, more so than any other act Jay Z has picked up before, Rita’s live skills can only serve to boost her worth as a premium touring act- if she ever decides to launch her own live show.
Sigh.

I love me some Rita. People already believe she isn’t going to go far in her career, but people were saying the same thing about Rihanna. And look were she is now. My friends, THIS is why Rita is better than Rihanna. When was the last time Rihanna sang live (and sounded anywhere near decent) to a live band? Rita has more talent in her left shoulder than two Rihanna’s have combined. Rihanna could never pull off this sort of performance, or any performance that distracts from glass and focuses solely on raw talent.
I’m not all the way there yet, but I am becoming more and more impressed by Rita.

Damn. Not only is Rita a technically better singer than Rihanna, but she’s also a better live performer too. She sounded good live AND had energy/commanded the stage (two things Rihanna never does.) Unlike the one she’s replacing, she’s not made solely in the studio. I respect real talent.

That was NOT a great performance – she was shaky and pitchy and there were a couple of high notes that made me cringe. How embarrassing to sing so poorly on Jools Holland, at least Rihanna is aware of her limitations. The music media do this girl no favours by constantly touting her as the second coming, she isn’t that special and her music is generic. If she wasn’t being shoved down our throats all over the place then we would be more prepared to give her a chance as a new artist, as it is she is not all that.

@NAQU – I think you have mistaken me for someone else, I am NOT a Rihanna stan. I am a casual fan of hers but I only stan for Gaga. I, like many others who use this blog, am just sick and tired of the way TGJ have been ramming this girl down our throats – if you have a problem with Rihanna comparisons then blame them as they are the ones who keep posting about her, making snide comments about Rihanna in the process. I am well aware that Rihanna is mostly a pretty poor live singer, however she has a certain something that Rita is lacking. Rita is not the second coming and, as I said, TGJ are doing the girl no favours as I can see more people disliking her because of it than there were when she was first mentioned on here. Frankly it doesn’t matter one little bit whether Rita is more talented than Rihanna (or not), there are plenty of talented artists out there who have bombed or who cannot get a break, it takes more than just having a reasonable voice (Rita is no Adele or Christina). Rihanna may not be the world’s greatest vocalist but she has a solid career of several years under her belt and is a worldwide superstar. Come back in a few years, then we will see how Rita is doing in comparison to Rihanna ;o)
