Former Danity Kane diva Dawn Richard continues her foray into the world of “solo” with new video ‘Automatic’.
An Urban/Sci-Fi affair, the clip is the follow-up to the singer’s explosive ‘Bombs’ video – which too is lifted from Richard’s EP ‘Armor On’.
Check out what Diddy‘s one-time protegee is set to serve up on June 18th below…
Intriguing! We’re loving the creativity oozing out of this particular project. Although, Ms. Richard must be careful to not steer her movement too far to the left – after all her biggest commercial success thus far stems from her Danity Kane days.
Still, as an independent act seeking a deal, Dawn is doing a stellar job of ensuring she stands out from the pack. A fact which makes her future prospects (i.e. when backed by a major label and with more palatable material) that much more exciting.
Roll on the full premiere!

Yes!! I’m so over all these new acts fusing soulful vocal with alternative lyrical content, concept and a afrohouse/rock influences. Too many people have transitioned from solo artist to an integral part of a ground breaking girl group, to a part of what was arguably the most creative collaborative group to hit hip-hop in a decade. I’ve seen too many then start making a name for themselves as a solo artist with the dance skills of a superior hip-hop/jazz dancer, the creative writing ability of a seasoned rocker of indie artist and the tone of a soulful R&B rocker. She is not the only one to have the creative vision of a signed veteran superstar.
She needs to just sit down and join the queue, because people like this that come dime a dozen.

I never comment on here just read the posts and keep it moving, but I have to say I am really sad at the fact that all of us here on this board who I assume are mostly young black men and women tearing down Dawn. She is doing everything by herself with no backing of a major label and making the impact that she is doing right now. Why can we just say you know what…..Im proud of her, shes doing great but its not for me and keep it movin? Why are we always, I mean always tearing each other down? Every last person on this board has a dream, a passion and something you want to accomplish…if you dont then your a dead zombie walking. You know how hard it is to first figure out what you want to do with your life and then go after it, and she is doing it in one of the hardest industries to get shine in all with her own money. I want a good reason as to why we are tearing her down? If your going to tear her down and talk shit, atleast acknowledge the fact that she gets up out of bed every single day and focuses on what she loves with out asking anyone to feel sorry for her, take care of her or lay on her back for someone else to sponsor her. This is fucked up, and the main reason why we as a black people cannot move forward. I say dont talk shit at all, but atleast if your gonna talk shit……acknowledge her milestones. Yall need to get it together!!!! You all know who you are, let me see you try and go after your dreams while its all out there for public opinion and see how you deal with people constantly picking every fucking thing you do apart. This site is here because someone had a dream and a passion and you still pick apart the person who started this site. I find that most people who judge and talk shit, are angry at themselves because they haven’t stepped up in their own lives to do anything worth striving for that takes them out their comfort zone, and its really easy to get behind a computer and say anything with no real picture of who you are. Get it together!!!
