Kelly Rowland Shows ‘Pride’ Her ‘Motivation’

Published: Tuesday 26th Jun 2012 by Sam

As earlier reported, Kelly Rowland took front stage centre at Minneapolis’ Pride Festival over the weekend. Breaking briefly from finishing her fourth studio album, the sultry songstress thrilled the audience with a bevy of her biggest hits – including ‘Motivation’.

Watch Ms. Kelly and her troop of dancers “break it down” in sizzling showing after the jump…

Via TGJ TV:

While last year’s BET show-stopper remains the best live showing of the cut, it’s awesome to the mega-strides Kelly has made as a performer. Vocally on-point, oozing “swaggu”, and killing the choreography (“that” dance break remains all sorts of the business!),  the DC graduate has bloomed into solo force on stage.

Echoing earlier sentiments, should she pair this with material that’s hot tamale, she could really blaze her “lane”. As at writing, the 31 year old is in the studio with hitmaker Sean Garrett – who penned ‘Like This’, Brandy’s ‘Put It Down’, and Beyonce’s ‘Diva’. Exciting times.

  2. the real xoxo June 26, 2012

she is so underrated. she has the talent to be one of the best in the game!

  3. ASAP (As Sincere As Possible) June 26, 2012

The potential and the talent are there, all she needs is a half-decent album and 2 good singles and she’ll get where she deserves to be.

P.S : Can we all PLEASE stop using the “underrated” card? She’s performing in big venues, she toured with Chris Brown, she’s signed in a major record label, she and she’s working with the elite of urban producers. She’s FINE!

    • Alex Thomas June 26, 2012

I agree with 50% of what you said. Her albums are fantastic and she does release at least 2 good singles. So it’s unfair to say that her albums aren’t half decent.

But I agree with the fact that people say she’s underrated all the time. She is not underrated. Her albums to sell moderately well, she tours with big stars and has won numerous awards and is on the cover of every magazine out there.

Sad. How, one can be so overjoyed at the misfortune of others. Pray God don’t see this and catches you on a day when you blessing others and not rejoicing in their failings.

        Good day and God bless.

yea, she deserves more commercial critical success, so underrated, …it’s her own fault though, she always falling second to some body, who has so many bread winners in her inner circle, now Kim Kardasian is more famous than Kelly

    • lyric commander lee June 26, 2012

Kelly is far from being underrated.

The problem with here I am was the poor promotion all over. Too many people were stuck on Motivation and that was the only song from the album radios seemed to want to play. On top of that, Kelly decided to join xfactor when she should’ve been promoting her album.

    • X,Y,”and Z” June 26, 2012

      @Christina re: June 26th —

“The problem with ‘here I am’ was the poor promotion” <— O~o ..HUH..?!

      "Promotion"..?!

When you're given a venue as a sitting judge/mentor of up-and-coming talent, AND you're allowed to perform your album's material on said venue – when the aforementioned venue is weekly-seen, for several months, by an audience of an "eager-to-spend 12-Million strong"..how much more "promotion" do you need?!

In-total, and at the very least, for 4-weeks (12-Million/week)=48-Million watched Kelly Rowland on 'X-Factor U.K.' (this "48-Million" is a conservative figure because the show ran for MORE than 1-month)! And she could ONLY then move less-than 150-K U.K/European units of "Here I am"..?!

If it was "promotion" she'd wanted (as SOME would say Beyonce "hogged" all the 'DC limelight'), then Kelly Rowland seen on 'X-Factor U.K.' was ALLLL the "promotion" she could've EVER need! Let's not forget that she was given "U.S. promotion" by being seen on one of 'summer 2011's' hottest tours: Chris Brown's F.A.M.E tour.

In short: "promotion" was something Kelly Rowland, circa 2011 was NOT lacking!

"WE" gave Kelly Rowland the stage – a WORLD WIDE "STAGE". We removed Beyonce and Matthew Knowles and gave Kelly Rowland the entire stage, and the result? The result: less-than 350-K WW "Here I am" units moved!

Kelly Rowland: "Orlando Bloom, and men who look like him, are THE most beautiful of all men!"<– NO black heterosexual man should EVER support Kelly Rowland!

..And after 48-Million saw her and "less-than 350-K moved WW"?! Well, it seems as though no one else supported the now almost-40-something-year-old Kelly Rowland!

      • Chester Allen June 26, 2012

Uhh 350k Unit less worldwide? Lies…..
It sold over 286k In the States
Sold over 200k in the UK
Sold over 200k In Switzerland….. Soo That’s MORE then 350k . Update your facts

      • X,Y,”and Z” June 27, 2012

        @Chester Allen re: June 26th, 4:54 pm :

        “over286K in US/over 200K UK/over 200k Swiss”

Chester, if you could post any CREDIBLE link(s), please?

        Also, there’s no doubting that she had, in 1-month as X-Factor U.K judge/mentor, access to some 48-Million U.S./European discretionary-spending X-Factor fans.

Even using your questionable sales stats, of some 700K WW, that’s STILL pathetic given the said 48-Million she had access to.

Again, if you could post your links..

Hey, was it not you who posted a yahoo music link that said that Kelly Rowland was to return to 2012 X-Factor U.K.?

In any case, credible links please!!

    DANG…My girl be SANGING that ish…She ain’t playing…She…is…not…playing!

  14. GAJE June 26, 2012

    AMAZING!!!!! #TEAMKELLY.

  15. X,Y,”and Z” June 26, 2012

    Let’s see…

Her voice: Weak/Out-of-tune/Out-of-breath.. In a word: LACKING!

Her body: You may be wondering (as am I) “Granny Bloomers”?! You see, there’s just too much “skinny-girl cellulite” to conceal, and because of that one unflattering fact – there’s just no room to “accentuate and uplift”(if you know what I mean?!).

Her showmanship (lack thereof): (again..) She’s LACKING. She has ZERO chemistry with her dancers. “Why So,” you now ask? Well, it’s like she said: “Orlando Bloom, and men who look like him, are THE most beautiful of ALL men!” No-a-one of her dancers bears the slightest resemblance to Mr. Bloom. Ergo, the lack of any “chemistry” between her and her dancers.

    Curious Things:

1.)It took “Motivation” some 4-LOOOONG months to go platinum. For a single, regardless of genre, that’s an ETERNITY! You see, “Motivation” was rammed-down our collective throats till we all just relented and ponied-up that $0.99 for the single; small ransom to pay for our sanity.

    2.) Kelly Rowland was T-H-E best-known/easily recognized face and name of ‘2011 U.K. X-Factor’.

3.) “X-Factor U.K.” was weekly-seen by 12-million ready-to-spend U.K./European viewers. So, for 1-month alone, it was seen by (12×4) 48-Million(minimum) discretionary-spending viewers, and the now almost-40-something-year-old Kelly Rowland, could then only sell ‘less-than 150-K’ to said 48-Million. JUST HOPELESSLY PATHETIC!

Kelly said in an interview last week that we would be hearing something new from her in a few weeks. I can’t wait!!

  17. ENOUGH ONIKA June 26, 2012

Kelly is just beautiful! Just an amazing person all around. She doesn’t take her gift lightly and behave like an idiot like young kids aren’t watching and aren’t influenced (fill in the celebrity here). One of the rare “role models” we have in pop culture.

  18. Lebo(CaribbeanBOi) June 26, 2012

Beautiful performance .. Luv her swag, moves vocals … Go girl ..

Can’t wait for the new material …

    lets go get em’

  19. Chester Allen June 26, 2012

Gosh she looks amazing 😀 !

  20. Steph June 26, 2012

    BEAUTIFUL!

  21. O_O June 26, 2012

Vocally the best performance by far. She really has been working on that vocal. Dance wise she did less than EBT but seemed more confident and natural with it.

    Go Kelly!

I need for her to take a hell of a lot of (different) dance classes and watch a lot of SYTYCD US/AU and you tube choreography for this new show. She clearly walked into X Factor blind, I need for her to not try and use the show as a platform and put out any music during this show. Just focus on showing flare and creativity with her contestants and making the show a hit. She need to learn to do some research and gauge her audience this time and it could be the start of something great for her.

  22. lyric commander lee June 26, 2012

    yass ms kelly better work!

  23. musik_lover June 26, 2012

I always love how people can sit up and post things about artist being flops & failures! When she is probably currently richer than you would ever be in your entire life span. Some of you just need to go have a seat and try to figure out how to get on her level since she’s such a flop! She’s always been paid & successful, but her solo fame is becoming more mainstream & commercial. In the words of K. Michelle “Your comments shouldn’t be larger than your pockets!” Klooonnnkkkk How You Doing?

    • lyric commander lee June 27, 2012

couldnt of said it better myself!
