NME Name Beyonce’s ‘Crazy In Love’ As ‘Best Track Of The OOs’

Up until the release of ‘Single Ladies‘ in 2008, ‘Crazy In Love’ served as Beyonce‘s signature track, the launching pad for the accolade riddled solo career.

Now, as if the 16 Grammys, box office #1s and multi-platinum LP’s weren’t enough, this week saw more good news head Mama Bey’s way.

Find out why below…

Sure to split opinion as Moses did the Red Sea, NME Magazine have named her 2003 hit ‘Crazy In Love’ the best track of the noughties, explaining:

Beyonce’s finest single was released in 2003 to universal acclaim, shooting to the top spot in America and the UK and picking up two Grammy Awards along the way. Built around a horn sample from 1970 hit ‘Are You My Woman? (Tell Me So)’ and featuring a rap from boyfriend Jay-Z (reportedly thrown out off the cuff in 10 minutes at a 3am studio session), it remains a classic.

If you can judge a song by the amount of times it’s been covered, this track has had the treatment from numerous artists, from Snow Patrol to Switchfoot and The Magic Numbers.

Beating Adele‘s ‘Rolling In The Deep’ and Rihanna‘s ‘Only Girl In The World’ to the top spot, the cut’s win arrives one year after the release of her fourth album ‘4′, and 9 years after it was originally released as the first single in aid of ‘Dangerously In Love‘, Knowles’ debut LP.

And people say her music isnt legendary!! SMH… Everything about her is legendary! Ps NME arent the only people to say this.. This has best voted the best track of the decade by mutiple other credible magazines, music channels and critics a like.

    • Gilberto June 1, 2012

      @JON
Do you really care about Rihtards’ opinion? They stan for Rihanna!!! Please! What do they know about talent and legacy? Nothing.

      Quality over Quantity.

  7. MONSTERHIVE June 1, 2012

This isn’t the first time a major source has dubbed Crazy in Love as the biggest song of the decade. I think another big song would have been Bad Romance or Umbrella. But this song definitely had a huge impact, it was featured on a Pepsi commercial, White Chicks, Taxi, & Glee. Not to mention the “oh oh” dance.

  8. POP ROYALTY ( Révolution) June 1, 2012

    STRIKE !!!!!

now where are the s*** talkers and she’s this and she’s that kind of haters ?!!
i’m not worried tho, they will be in the house sooner or later , but i’m happy ! this woman is EVERYTHING !!

can’t wait to see what her next step gonna be like.

i want an album with songs like “Radio” , “scared of lonely” , “sweet dreams” and maybe “hello” , this should be her next direction IMO.

HAPPY news for the BeyHive for sure !!

    • virtuoso intellect June 1, 2012

wow Pop we are like twins i wrote a similar comment on the Beyhive app when they askd what kinda album we want, i said creative uptempos like sweet dreams and radio not the lazy generic predictable s*** every pop singer is doing today

      • POP ROYALTY ( Révolution) June 2, 2012

we are Not LIKE twins , WE ARE TWINS 😉

i just wanted to express my thoughts 🙂 , great minds think alike !! 😉

Crazy In Love is fantastic! It’s my favorite track of all time and I still not tired of it after all these years. I don’t think Beyoncé will ever top it, because CIL is beyond EPIC.

  10. JJFan1814 June 1, 2012

NME? Never heard of this irrelevant magazine

    • MONSTERHIVE June 1, 2012

      Have you heard of VH1?

      • POP ROYALTY ( Révolution) June 1, 2012

talking about relevancy with a name having Janet jackson in it ?!

        self-shading much ?!!
and i’m sure if janet was the one who got it then this magazine would have been as credible as the bible to you and you would have activated the stan-mode in your system. which , coincidentally , haven’t been active since CIL was released , as your fav’s career got expired since then ……
        the nerve of these h*** !! 😡

  11. POP ROYALTY ( Révolution) June 1, 2012

      • TAYLOR SWIFTS NUMBER 1 FAN!!! June 1, 2012

Yeah, Im just saying that song came out in 98, that’s all. Im not being a nerd:P

  13. BIGGESTAALIYAHFAN June 1, 2012

She hasn’t ever had an Oscar nomination. Don’t know where you got facts from.

    • JessyFish June 1, 2012

She was part of an Oscar winning film, Dream Girls. He probably didn’t research enough.

  14. TAYLOR SWIFTS NUMBER 1 FAN!!! June 1, 2012

NME have some strange choices in the top 10.. like at number 3 with a Strokes song. Dont know how they came up with these list. As for number 1.. if we’re saying thats the best song of a decade.. boy is music gone down hill.

    • -___- June 1, 2012

Music’s going down the drain yet you’re a Taylor Swift stan, irony.

      • TAYLOR SWIFTS NUMBER 1 FAN!!! June 1, 2012

I support Taylor, I never said her music is classic music…. but nor is crazy in love… Its just bubble gum music.

Rem-Everybody hurts>>> Beyonce crazy in love.

One song has emotion, the other just song is mostly … saying ..Uh oh, uh oh, uh oh, oh, no, no and repeating “crazy in love” a load of times

      • POP ROYALTY ( Révolution) June 1, 2012

Beyonce’s CIl is bubblegum music ?! coming from a taylor swift fan ?! 😯

        DA ACtual FUcKKKKKKKKKK ?! 😛

      • TAYLOR SWIFTS NUMBER 1 FAN!!! June 1, 2012

Taylor is bubble gum pop aswell, but then her music isnt being said to be the best of a decade! There’s the difference!
But to have this song at number.. with lyrics like Uh oh, uh oh, uh oh, oh, no, no and repeating crazy in love a load of times, is abit of a joke

    • virtuoso intellect June 1, 2012

crazy in love is not bubble gum kiddo. u obviously dont know what bubble gum means. u can have live instruments on a song and call it bubble gum. that record was a risk that paid off hamdsomely

      • virtuoso intellect June 1, 2012

        *handsomely

    • JOSE June 1, 2012

      Taylor Swift fan, I agree!

Pop Royalty, you sound like an idiot. Janet has had a career spanning decades. She doesn’t need to try to be relevant alongside your lessor faves of today. She is legend. Plus, alert me when your fave sells 100+ million ww. Sit until then.

  18. christinastherealtalent June 1, 2012

I wonder how much Beyonces team pays these sources to just say crappy like this. You mean to tell me that out of millions of other songs that were NOT sampled and sampled through the 00’s…Crazy in Love was the best one? What next?…Rihannas going to be named the best vocalist of her generation?

    • AppleNerd June 1, 2012

Single Ladies would have also been a good choice. Stop with the “how much did Beyonce pay” bs, in that case I’d say about every mainstream artist simply pays for relevancy. It’s such a stupid theory.

    • *CRAMPED* June 1, 2012

  25. JOSE June 1, 2012

LMAOO. Judging by the comments on the NME website, no one agrees with the decision.. And no this song is far from legendary. Beyonce will never be a legend because her career has been overshadowed by too many thievery claims. If you look at most legends, The Beatles, Michael Jackson, etc, they brought something new to the table. They were original. Beyonce is not original. Everything she does is “borrowed” or she got “inspiration” for it. She is not a game changer in music no matter how much her fans want her to be. She shakes her ass well and has a few hits(most of which were years ago as she hasn’t had any recently).Thats all. She had one good album. Dangerously in Love. I am Sasha Fierce produced another b*** shaking anthem, but that’s about it.

    • Back2Business June 2, 2012

That is like saying MJ is not a legend because his career was been overshadowed by too many child molestation claims.

  26. DIGGER BEY June 1, 2012

@Whut Lmao U gots to b the most delusional c*** n the Rihtards. KING B is still killen yo coke head fav, even though she havent had a smash hit on billboard since 2010. Accolades after accolades! What is the coke head getting? H***** and d**** n the mouth. KING B is legendary!

  27. Girrrl June 1, 2012

We Belong Together would have been a better choice. Especially since it was the longest running #1 of that decade.

  28. fatu sankoh June 1, 2012

yes sam keep it comming you make my day is good to see bey and her sister kelly bey crazy in love is going to be one of the bes songst ever ever their is no one like our bey long live the queen

Oh wait was that her song???? KIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!

  30. DIGGER BEY June 1, 2012

Crazy In Love = Instant Classic! And NME isnt the first to name CIL song of the 00s. Lmao @ these lames that always slam or say they never heard of sources when they pay homage towards KING B Lmao. If Jesus came down and named BDAY the best album of the 00s. Watch some pressed mad hater say I never heard of him SMH

    • WHUT June 1, 2012

Only a Fossil-yonce stan would bring up that wild ass example. SMDH

      1) Jesus has TASTE.

      2) I’m sure Jesus’ sense of hearing is more refined than a mortal so the level of TRASH that is BDay would be DISGUSTING to his ears.

      3)Jesus has TASTE

      and

4)Who links Jesus to their fave like that? Oh right the MUPPET clowns who worship a woman who happens to be a notorious theif and ALSO wouldn’t P*** on any of you lemmings if yall asses was on fire. KIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!

  31. JER June 1, 2012

    Consider the source.

NME also gave The Emancipation of Mimi 1/5 stars saying it was self indulgent and wasn’t enough to put Mariah Carey back on the map.

  32. Gaaglooo! June 1, 2012

I Don’t Know If It The Best Tack Of The 00S, But I Do Know That It’s One Of The Hottest Bee’s Video! This, NG, BB And RTW( Girls) Are My Favorits Beyoncé’s Videos!:-)

  33. JER June 1, 2012

All this is. All this s*** is really just BeYAWNce’s camp paying off these articles. WE ALL KNOW nobody has paid more to be famous that BeYAWNce’s handlers. Since those payola checks to radio bounced last year, they cut those checks elsewhere.

There are a hundred better songs than f****** “Crazy In Love.” People ride that song’s D***. What about these songs?

    Evanescene – “My Immortal”
    Janet Jackson’s “All For You”
    Mariah Carey- “We Belong Together”
    Madonna – “Don’t Tell Me”
    Prince- “Call My Name”
    Rihanna- “Umbrella”
    Amy Winehouse- “Rehab”

i could go on. I can’t at these people writing this s***, bunch of godamn BeYAWNce stans desperately trying to act like the b**** hasn’t been sued a dozen times, been caught stealing people’s songs, being overly-“inspired,” and straight up swaggerjack every b**** in the game. It’s getting beyond comical at this point. Nobody talks or cares about BIONCI but her stans. BeYAWNce doesn’t even have any fans anymore, they’re all just stans. Can’t say a godamn thing bunch of mentally ill RETARDS

  34. Jayla June 1, 2012

if im not mistaken, Mariah Carey – We Belong Together is the official song of the decade, everybody knows this…

    • Girrrl June 1, 2012

Yes we all do but Sam is a Beyonce worshipper so he looks for anything to make her look supreme.

  35. WILD DEBUTANTE June 1, 2012

    Cool.

even though I would’ve expected either Rihanna’s “Umbrella”, almost any Britney record or Amy Winehouse “Rehab” to top a list like that.

  36. kimberly June 1, 2012

What a coincidence to have this song number one in multiple music sources. It is for a reason and get used to greatness haters. This umbrella song not coming close to cil. Bitche s stay pressed. It told yall to stay tuned cause there is more to comfrom beyonce. You dont have to like. Her but you got to respect her. Your fav still aiont crabbing nominations like her and she is considered irrelevant.

Everybody want their fav song to. Be number one, well may the best one win and is just what many sources published. Cil equals classic and deal

  37. mokok-lee June 1, 2012

Ummm I’m sorry, that award has already gone to Mariah Carey’s ‘We Belong Together’…As much as people like to do it, you can’t rewrite history folks.

  38. WhiteBoi June 1, 2012

We Belong Together was the song of the decade as stated by Billboard, the only source that really matters.

Crazy in love is a good song, but did it spend 14 weeks at no.1 and break record after record like WBT did? NO

  39. Adrian June 2, 2012

Queen Mariah already received the honor of having Song of the Decade TWO decades in a row (One Sweet Day, 16 weeks #1, and We Belong Together 14 weeks #1.) I respect Beyonce as an artist but I don’t think CIL is a song of the decade..?? lol. It’s a cute and memorable song but it ends there.

tops songs of 2000’s according to popularity and remaining relevance after their peak time on the charts

  40. JohnVidal(RIP Whitney-truegreat) June 2, 2012

I always say it, Crazy in love is the best Beyonce song by a country mile.
Her catalogue is very poor compared to other huge acts, but that song right there is great, the video was amazing too. Her best was this her debut song
Still this list, as most of lists is just based on opinion by a bunch of people from a magazine. I mean, it´s not the absolutely truth, see Sam?… this type of things are “debatable” like you like to say about so many things that are not
And why did Sam had to name Rihanna in this post? How the hell was “Only Girl” going to be considered song of the decade by anyone from a quality point of view??? You are desperate for hits, and Beyonce and Rihanna fans fall for it everytime…

  41. PrettigurlrockD June 2, 2012

Its a good song but tbh I thought they were gonna say a Britney spears song.

    Bad romance only got attention
Becuz of it’s video, which was amazing on the graphics and visuals, but it’s not the biggest song ever. I would say the best video of the decade tho.

  42. Back2Business June 2, 2012

Some of you act like Beyonce murdered your mother or you child or something. Why hate because she reaches a mile-stone? Why take the time out of your day to come to a post that is clearly about her and degrade her name? Why waste your energy calling her a b****, a h**, talent-less, boring, a thief, & whatever else? WHY? Does it make you feel important? Has she ever called you a b****? No because she doesn’t know you! Beyonce is the most celebrated artist of this generation and you can like it or not , nothing will change. The people you put up against Beyonce to adore her (Rihnna, Mariah, Britney, Gaga, Katy, MJ, Prince, Tina Turner, MJB, Janet, & many more)… All I am saying is if you don’t like Beyonce why come to her post? If you don’t like Sam why come to TGJ?
