It’s been a long time coming, yet finally Brandy is gearing up to shoot the video for her comeback single ‘Put It Down’.
Creatively helmed by Frank Gatson (Beyonce, EnVogue, Destiny’s Child), shooting commences next week. And in a bid to, perhaps, whip up heightened interest among fans, the singer has shared a shot of her rehearsing for the clip in the dance studio.
Renown more for her voice than “spectacle”, it appears Ms. Norwood has stepped it all the way up with the latter. Indeed, her show-stopping showing at last Sunday’s BET Awards, proves she can weave flick, Naomi Campbell Walk, and emote with the best of ‘em – while, of course, singing live. A fact which makes this long-overdue video still worth the wait.

Usually I do not agree with haters but in this case I just hope Brandy listens to the blog comments. This song is subpar for a women with Brandy’s vocal talent. I would lover for Brandy to put out a single that is current and showcases her vocals. This song, lyrically and vocally, just is not grabbing people’s attention so she should just use it as a buzz track and move on to a real 1st single. In that photo it looks like she is “trying too hard.” The 1st single off her last album was in the right direction…but this new song with Chris Brown is not single worthy. Perhaps Brandy should start chatting with her fans more because I’m sure they could give her better insight in terms of what direction to go than I could.

Brandy can still make club bangers without yelling over a hook. Her voice just happens to be deep and soft here. Best believe when she performs this live yo ass gonna think differently. K??

She is threat, and has great potential..but she usually fall flat. It’s so annoying sometimes when you visit Brandy’s post. It’s like the women in the industry with the best attitudes get the most hate. Brandy has no reason to start imitating Dawn . She’s a great artist (I rock with Dawn), but let’s not pretend that she wasn’t inspired by Brocka! They both do innovative R&B/Pop, so let’s just appreciate their similarities… but not ever put them in the same lane. One is a vet! Dawn can get there, but there’s work to do.
Brandy has been proving herself time and time again this era. Every performance with Monica for IABTM was very solid. Say what you want about Put It Down, but before people got impatient with how the single was being promoted it was getting a lot of love on blogs, twitter, etc. Brandy’s Whitney tribute was all the talk we heard about the following day and the video won’t fail either(let’s atleast observe it first).
Some of ya’ll need to understand that Brandy was already the “Pop/R&B princess”/ “It girl”, all of that. She’s far more along in her career than some of these girls ya’ll are comparing to. All that she’s doing now is securing her legendary status, this is considerd icing. So let’s not put Brandy down when your fav doesn’t have two albums that sold over 5 million in the U.S. alone, 2 #1′s (with a single earning a record breaking 13 weeks at #1), a Grammy, almost 20 years in the game, 100 industry awards and a list of film/television work that some established actresses can only dream of.
When Dawn’s album sells 1 million copies like Bran’s 3rd album (FullMoon), let’s talk! I’m not mentioning other names because they haven’t come up yet, but just refer to what’s written above when they do. If your not from the Beyhive (& only a FEW other groups) than l urge you to do the math before you start bringing up people that haven’t shifted silver (look it up, that’s a certification).

This song won’t do much. I just don’t understand… It’s like Brandy and her people have no ears! Do they not hear that this is a flop? Like, why waste money doing a video for this song? These artist and their “I’m doing something different” attitudes…

Actually “Put It Down” gets A LOT of play on my local radio station. It grew on me. It’s a fun, summer song that has crossover potential. I’m sure Brandy will not stray from what makes her—her, but it’s time for her to get back to where she deserves to be! I see Brandy making a big comeback and I’m excited for her! I’ve loved her since I was a little girl!!!!
