Jazze Pha : “Ciara & I Need Each Other”

Published: Thursday 12th Jul 2012 by David

As the man cited for introducing the world to a then 19 year old Ciara, Jazze Pha‘s work prior to their quiet split remains just as celebrated today as it was then.

Unable to recreate the star’s success with any of the other performers he subsequently nurtured, Pha- despite his synonymy with her more successful eras – has become public enemy #1 to much of her fan base who question his motives trying to sue her in 2008.

Now, he has weighed in on her career by way of HipHollywood.

His comments below…

While his remarks may be billed as the ramblings of a desperate has-been, we can’t but agree with him.

For, while he is the last person Ciara needs in her career at this point, he makes a valid point when he says she needs to be micromanaged.

Micromanagement:

A management style where a manager closely observes or controls the work of his or her subordinates or employees.

Yes, whether her fans would like to believe it or not, Ciara’s issue has never been with her material but with her strategy- the way in which her releases are packaged and promoted.

For, unlike her work ethic, Cici’s campaigns since ‘The Evolution’ have been shoddy to say the least, broken at the first sight of an illegal leak or low first week sales.

Low first week sales, that could have been avoided if her then label had been swift in their responses- ie, throwing cuts on iTunes the second they leaked, a la Keri Hilson with ‘No Boys Allowed’.

Now she’s in the safe hands of Epic, we trust LA Reid will oversee every nook and cranny of ‘One Woman Army’s campaign and use his pull in the industry to ensure the most is made of both she and her material.

By this, we mean pumping the necessary finances into her music videos and teaming up with the necessary outlets to debut them, making nice with ‘Clear Channel‘ to launch her lead single (no longer believed to be ‘Sweat’) to as many radio formats as possible.

Then, encouraging digital purchases of the album by way of iTunes banners and if needs be- a Thanksgiving release window to benefit from the Black Friday sales.

For, if anyone deserves the ‘A-List’ treatment it is Ciara, who could easily become a global force, if given  the right ideas on and off the stage.

“While his remarks may be billed as the ramblings of a desperate has-been, we can’t but agree with him.”

    That’s a contradiction.

    • Listen July 12, 2012

no it isn’t, they said “may”.

    • david July 12, 2012

it isn’t a contrradiction. Go back to school.

  2. Kat July 12, 2012

I dont think its a matter of finances, we see people make it all the time with bad marketing strategies, I think her choices in terms of her music are not ones which seperate her from the rest…thus she fades…she’s a great talent, she should call the shots and make better choices for herself
    More power to her…

  3. steph July 12, 2012

I’m so tired of people saying this. Ciara doesn’t need Jazzy Pha…… and people need to move on.

  4. OZ July 12, 2012

Dream said the last album was her last shot and she missed so am starting to think maybe its time she hung it up and take out a modeling contract.

    • Who is he July 12, 2012

All that and she’s singed to another label and recording her 5th album. Dream don’t know s***, not even his daughter w/ C. Milli. Bye.

  5. es July 12, 2012

This album needs to slay. I love ciara, and want her at the top again. She deserves it.

  6. White girl mob July 12, 2012

Somebody need to give that h** Rihanna some advice and tell her to keep her legs close cause she smells like fish.

And somebody needs to talk to that negro Chris brown and tell him to keep hands off of women and stop being a negro 24/7.

      • White girl mob July 12, 2012

B**** shut up! You’er mom a joke for having you hahaha I will tell you one thing you won’t be laughing when kreayshawn sells almost half of what you’er fave sells

    • That B*tch July 12, 2012

B**** nobody here is talking about Rihanna or Chris Brown. This post is about Ciara.
And Kreayshawn will be luck if her album even goes plastic.

      • That B*tch July 12, 2012

        lucky*

    • Cassie July 13, 2012

@ Delusional white girl mob. Just stop. No one knows or is checking for Kreayshit or whatever the f*** her name is so please just stop because your completely delusional if you think she will even sell 12 copies in the first week lol.

  7. Crave12 July 12, 2012

no its not its the truth .. jazze pha is a has been and clearly sees ciara as his way back into the music scene but that doesnt mean everything he said is b******* .. ciara DOES need to be micromanaged! i mean look at the mess that is sweat .. they released it then announed this date it would be on itunes then the date came and went and we havent heard anything since .. jazze pha is completely right in that EVERYTHING needs to be handled like its make it or break it because with two flop albums back to back it kind of is

  8. CisForCiaraRisForHerpes July 12, 2012

if la reid can turn that goat into a megastar im sure he can do it for ciara.

    quick tidbit:
ciara sold more copies first week with the evolution than the goats first two albums combined in the first week.

    • Girrrl July 12, 2012

What happened after Evolution? She flopped and flopped again like a fish out of water. Has Basic Foolishness sold 100k yet?

  9. Aaliyah is Queen B**** July 12, 2012

Speaking of the gym that’s exactly where Jazze Pha needs to be right now. His fat ass! I wondered why they separated since she was more successful when she was with him. I had no idea he sued her, so I guess I know now. Ciara doesn’t need him but she needs to stick to her roots and go back to crunk music IMO.

    • number1k9 July 12, 2012

Crunk music died way back in 2005/2006 at the latest!

She needs to just create upbeat, fun Pop influenced R&B Dance tunes if she wants success.

And also stick to her ‘Goodies’ era formula, feature high profile rappers on the tracks.

      • Aaliyah is Queen B**** July 12, 2012

The “goodies era” was crunk music tho lol

    • number1k9 July 13, 2012

Yeah The ‘Goodies’ era was Crunk music, that was released in 2004!

Yes it has been that long!

But even come her sophomore album it was more or less R&B songs, with slight Crunk. . . That album was released in 2006: ‘Ciara: The Evolution’

  10. Healdaworld July 12, 2012

She will be a GLOBAL FORCE , heed my words….

  11. White girl mob July 12, 2012

A lot of b**** n***** in this industry ain’t really no real n***** NOMORE! The real n***** in the rap game is kreayshawn, v nasty, E-40, TOO Short, lil kim, and some of the n***** is dead like 2pac, biggie, easy e, we left with a lot of fake ass n*****.

But I’m on the block with real ass n***** that f*** with me they down with the white brick mob. Kreayshawn gonna bring home millions and millions when her debut album sells fly threw the roof.. Then the white girl mob will be rich as hell hahahaha

    August 14 we coming

    • IOTA July 12, 2012

i wish that this h** would SHUT THE F*** UP

  12. number1k9 July 12, 2012

I have to agree with him.

But then, why’d it take you so long to come to this realization? That is my question, why now? Why the fall out between the two? Why not 2 albums ago!? ? ?

  13. NAVYSTAN July 12, 2012

    HANG IT UP!!! FLATSCREEN!

    • FAF July 12, 2012

      * looks at screenname * OHHHHH, OK UR A TROLL JUST LIKE YOUR IDOL..

  14. Kingphoenix July 12, 2012

Ugh Jazzy, stop trying to make Ciara happen.

  15. IOTA July 12, 2012

Ciara, your career is at the final stretch. Now or never.

Lol. She needs to try and get a track on a new David Guetta album or something that is actually not her album, just to guarantee a hit then pull in some listeners kinda like Kelly Rowland did.

Then again, Kelly can actually sing…sigh…

  16. An0thrnight July 12, 2012

I completely agree with tgj ! Period.

  17. Boss July 12, 2012

    Someone needs a check.

  18. christinastherealtalent July 12, 2012

The reason Ciara was more successful back during her debut is because she brought something fresh and hot to the table. She had her own style, look, etc…she was like a second coming of Aaliyah (RIP)….

the reason these days Ciara struggles to maintain any kind of success is because she doesnt have her own lane. She’s trying hard to regain her success but its just not clicking. Sweat was so hyped up then a huge let down now nobodys talking about it and it hasn’t even been a month. It’s how she’s managed, promoted, and credits herself. She’s very talented she just has to get back to what made Ciara, Ciara.

    • Reality101 July 12, 2012

I’m a Ciara Stan and I completely agree….she’s so talented. I like Sweat…but it was incredibly mishandled. U only get a few chances 2 capture the attn of the masses. A video to follow….even if they scrapped it as a first single would hv at least kept ppl talking. We want 2 C her perform, watch her videos over and over…not anticipate an “interesting” first single w…yet again lackluster promo and marketing. C’mon already!!! As a Ciara fan it is incredibly frustrating. GET THIS S*** TOGETHER LA!!!!!!

      • christinastherealtalent July 12, 2012

I think the biggest problem is people have moved on from her because she hasn’t served anything hot in years. She can’t afford another flop and I think where her team needs to start to remind people that Ciara is still around is schedule her for some performances of her classic hits and maybe perform 1 or 2 new songs too. Where Ciara is in her career she needs to start slowly like that and work her way back to the top. She just can’t make a song and expect people to connect with it.

  19. sunshine July 12, 2012

I AGREE, CIARA’S PROBLEM HAS NEVER BEEN HER MUSIC AND PERFORMANCE. IT WAS HER MANAGEMENT. MANAGEMENT AND TEAMWORK IS THE BIG DIFFERENCE FROM ARTISTS WHO MUSIC IS EVERYWHERE AND THOSE WHO ARE NOT.

CIARA DEFINITELY HAS THE TALENT TO GO FAR. IF PEOPLE THINK BRITNEY SPEARS AND JANET JACKSON ARE “ICONS” AND CIARA CAN COMPETE WITH THEM IN THEIR PRIME. SHES ON THAT LEVEL TALENT WISE. THATS A FACT.

I THINK SHE IN THE RIGHT HANDS NOW WITH LA REID AND EPIC.

AS FOR JAZZE PHA…..UMM…..HE HASNT DONE ANYTHING LATELY SO…I DONT WHAT HE CAN BRING TO THE TABLE. BUT HE’S RIGHT THAT SHE NEEDS mICROMANAGEMENT BECAUSE A LOT OF BIG ARTISTS HAVE THAT TO MAKE EVERYTHING RUN SMOOTHLY.

    • FAF July 12, 2012

      EXACTLY

  20. Kyle July 12, 2012

I have always wondered what happened between her and Jazze Pha. I have so much reosect for Ciara and I know she’s hungry. She has always worked hard and at this point, the fact that she is still grinding and working hard shows a lot about her artistry. I have been a fan since day one and will support anything she puts out!!! Can’t wait for the new album!

  21. FAF July 12, 2012

First of all, N**** SUED HER!!!!! Why would she work w/ him again????? #NOBUENO

  22. That B*tch July 12, 2012

Ciara is a very talented woman and she doesn’t get the credit she deserves but at the same time talent can only get you so far. Her 2 flopped albums just proves that. She definitely needs better management and a good team holding her down. She may need to branch out musically to appeal to a wider audience if she wants to stay relevant because right now her clock is ticking.

  23. Im not throwing shade, but… July 12, 2012

Although not a fan Ciara needs to start from scratch. She needs to be thirsty as if she is broke, unknown and newly signed because at the moment she’s coasting with stale dance moves, cheap dated outfits and no brand or status.
The problem with Ciara is that she’s a people pleaser, she needs to do her or do popular, but don’t do what the “fans” want because you can always get new ones or win them over if the material and image are good enough.

  24. FAF July 12, 2012

THE PROBLEM W/ CIARA’S MANAGEMENT IS THAT SHE GOT PROMOTED SPARINGLY WITH LAFACE. SHE MOVED TO ARISTA WITH LA REID SO SHE WILL DEF. GARNER MORE BUZZ THIS TIME AROUND…. HER SONGS ARE ALWAYS HOT BUT U CANT COME UP ON A LATE NIGHT TALK SHOW THE NIGHT BEFORE UR ALBUMS RELEASE & EXPECT TO DO BIG NUMBERS… SHE NEEDS A PLAN…

  25. 4EVERSHITTINGONYOU AKA KNUCK July 12, 2012

to be honest I think Ciara needs a more organic sound.. her s*** is coming out sounding pre-packaged and microwaved. She needs to work very closely and intimately with people so her music sounds like her and she can grow WITH the music. This is her time to do a “velvet rope” so to speak.

I want to believe that LA is keeping her focused and together. We can’t expect her album to be like the first because that’s a backwards step. With the Evolution she had the perfect blend of pop/r&b/hip hop.

  26. kelly July 12, 2012

    Hello TGJ,

The new billboard list has come out. Cher Lloyd has leapfrogged from 75 – to 51 – to 35 – to 27. Cher is now in the top TWENTY Well done Cher, she is at 27.

Rita Ora has slipped from 65 to 68. LOL LOL LOL Her song has been out longer and been more promoted than Cher.

I am posting here Sam, because I know you do not want to accept the fact that your Rita is done. You base a web ripping one of the biggest superstars on the planet, but fail to mention the vital facts.

Where have you been is at NUMBER 6 – STILL HEAVY ON THE TOP 10.

    Well?

    • That B*tch July 12, 2012

      You damn troll

    • truth teller July 12, 2012

I bet Cher Lloyd’s record label is buying up her single….Americans don’t like British pop singers other than Adele and the Beatles. No trailer trash in Kentucky is sitting their fat ass down and buying Cher Lloyd’s song on iTunes.

  27. ADELE July 12, 2012

I think with LA Reid behind her she will do well. But she has to want it. Rihanna may not be the most talented, but she works her tail off, and has the best promotion team behind her. That woman hasn’t taken a break since 2005, Ciara on the other hand running behind Kim Kardasian. Ciara is talented, she just need to work hard.

  28. John92 July 12, 2012

i really do love ciara but im tired of waiting for her so long….she needs to release something now so she can have her hit by the end of summer! i was so happy for her that she got signed to epic but by now there haven’t heard much -.-

  29. KingPhoenix July 12, 2012

    My NEW FAV BLOGGER.!!
You clearly have love for Ciara.!! And I respect you for that, she is VERY TALENTED AND DESERVES TO SHINE.!!
She was heading in the right path, and I think their split is what her career DID NOT NEED.
They need to link up, cause Jazze has to finish blowing her out of the stratosphere.!!!

  30. ASAP (As Sincere As Possible) July 13, 2012

I don’t know if she needs HIM specifically, but she needs some type of micromanagement. I LOVE ‘Sweat’, but they scrapped its release and that’s a step back. She had all that buzz and her fans trended #OWAmovement, yet we still don’t have the lead single. They could have released it to radio as a buzz sinlge and it’s quite baffling that they just shelved it completely.

I think they were concerned because of the lukewarm reaction the track got from the critics in the album’s official preview, but I don’t know. I just hope they have a good plan, because I love Ciara and I want her to do well so much!

  31. bash July 13, 2012

No shade…but they are both has_beens

  32. mn July 13, 2012

i belive this era is going to put her own top. With the right label etc. Cant wait for BOH many people say the song is fire

  33. Nastybreakdown July 15, 2012

Imma Ciara stan and personally I think that Jazze is right, BUT i think she DOES need to go back with him. That’s when she makes her most notable music and he brings out the best in her. Just like Janet & Jimmy Jam/Terry Lewis, TLC & Dallas Austin, Mariah and JD, Brandy & Darkchild. Its certain producers that can pen for an artist like no other, and Jazze would do that for Ci.

  34. LOURDES July 15, 2012

Her music sucks! Point. Blank. Period.

  35. J-T October 23, 2012

Does she need to go back to him? Not permanently, but only for a project or two. Going back to Jazze Pha entirely? Hell no. That isn’t improving at all.

And Jazze Pha has not improved much lately either. In fact, it’s worse from what I’ve recently heard from his productions.

I personally think Ciara was better in her Evolution days than her Goodies days. “Goodies” album was just an Crunk version of Christina Aguilera’s self-titled album. Not much identity and self-expression at all.
