Madonna Comes Under Fire From Far Right French Group

Never one to shy away from controversy, Madonna‘s outspoken approach to many a social issue has at times worked both for her and against her.

For, while receiving praise for her visual commentary on interracial relationships in 1989’s ‘Like A Prayer’ , the same clip came under fire from the Vatican who labeled the clip ‘blasphemous’ for its unique take on religious symbolism.

This week, she has landed herself in hot water with the French political group the ‘National Front’, who have threatened to sue her for imagery showcased on her latest tour.

Details below…

The above snap, featured on the ‘Nobody Knows Me‘ segment of the icon’s MDNA tour, sees the ‘National Front’s leader Marine Le Pen branded with a swastika, a reference to her party’s allegedly racist political stance.

The party explained before confirming they were to take legal action against the star:

This is just another provocation in Madonna’s world tour so that people will talk about her.

We cannot accept such an odious comparison. Marine Le Pen will defend not only her own honour but her supporters and the millions of National Front voters.

Not sure why Madonna made the Nazi comparison, peep the clip below:

Im French and Im happy Madonna kept the picture of Lepen, the latter is a pure racist and has be compared to Hitler and other didactors and racist because she started just like them, she is an evil human being that is all, you can’t have sympathy or pity for someone like that.

    @Sam/TGJ staff —

On another level, in another guise, they’ve got them in the U.K./all over Europe too, just not as organized: “Football hooliganism”, yes? I’ve seen them single out fans/players/”others” of a different race/color, to then beat them up.

Tell you what though, with the U.K./Europe current economic condition, you can be sure that more of these political organizations will arise!

Oh, and if you FF to 10: 39 you’ll see the taxi driver who voted for the National Front with his BLACK WIFE who ALSO voted for the National Front.

The London Olympics starts shortly, and you bet the U.K.’s “True” Face of Police Brutality/Misconduct will be repainted with one of high-tolerance and multi-ethnic/racial harmony. Wow, wouldn’t it be something for the U.K. police to again abuse/brutalize/kill another person of color, maybe even a visiting foreign athlete, which THEN kicks-off another round of riots, circa 2011..??

..Now THAT would be something to see…

i live in the London, I am Mixed Race and i have never been subject of racial discrimination in my life from other races, only ever from other black people complaining that I’m not black enough, that I’m a bounty, that I try to act like a white person. so I disagree with your comment about the london olympics. they will be great.

      • London July 16, 2012

Aynon you sound like your head is in the clouds, are you sure you live in London? Just because you have never experienced racism in this country doesn’t invalidate anyone elses experience and do you not watch the news? I can’t wait for the olympics to be over, it sounds like its going to be a shambles.

      • aynon July 16, 2012

im not saying my lack of experience invalidates others im purely stating that saying britain isnt highly tolerant of other races is ridiculous because that is not the case

Madonna girl I´m with you on this. Don´t forget Republicans in America and the few Franco followers still alive here in Spain. There are these type of racist and rich morons in every country. The cancer of our civilization

    • alison July 16, 2012

I am a republican and im nither rich nor racist i think if your going to make comments about republicans as a whole make sure you dont label each and every republican as “RICH” or “RACIST”. but if im a republican and labeled as racist because of that then i think you need to rethink whos the racist here…

As a French person I can understand Madonna’s stance. The party isn’t “supposedly racist”, Sam, they ARE racist, and they don’t hide it, they don’t want any immigrants around, they are known for that.
You keep trying to dirty Madonna’s image, but I’m with her on this one. I can’t stand racist people, and the LePens are a family I honestly despise (those that are in the FN and share their ideas).

    • Stay At Home July 15, 2012

Oh aisha do u think they r wrong to say africans u can stay home, in ur country??? don’t be bias because u’re black… i think some of those people are right

      • Licious July 15, 2012

Ummmm I’m white and I applaud Madonna for doing this. Even if it is for “word of the mouth” purposes, it still gets a positive point across. By the way, stop putting everyone into one group. Some black people may be against immigration while some are for it. It’s people like you and Le Pone that feel the need to box, label, and judge everything that is wrong with this world.

      • aishaaguilerakeys July 16, 2012

How can u expect someone to stay in their home in this world where technology, transport, and communication has evolved ? It’s impossible to say that to people, travel no longer relies on ships only. Europeans started intruding on other people, need I remind you, with the thought of “civilising” us, remember that the French had a hard time letting go off their colonies, for ex Algeria. And besides, there are lots of Europeans in my native country, Guinea, so don’t think it’s just Africans who go to France, lots of French people live in Africa, too, there is immigration in both ways.

    Hop off Gaga’s d*** Sam.

After watching the clip I’m fully with Madonna on this. People want to hate, insult, demean and then get their panties in a twist when they’re called EXACTLY WHAT THEY ARE.’

After a quick googling the b**** who’s angry should be damn more concerned with how her ass will cool in hell.

I will say that for Madonna, she makes mistakes but she’s never afraid to look someone square in the eye and tell them what they are.

  8. S****** Blonde July 15, 2012

This is why she is on another level because she’s not just a Pop star, she is a cultural power, she moves masses, she always fight for people rights, whatever is not her problem, she defends people. You can say a lots of things about Madonna but you can’t deny that she is a revolutionary, she does not say nice words to appear more friendly or sympathetic in front of an audience, she goes straight into the lion’s den and defend people’s causes. She shows her nipple in a country where Women are forced to hide their bodies, no in America’s Super Bowl, ok ,a little shade to Miss Jackson (but that’s because Sam he hates Madonna and loves Janet), everything Madonna does is calculated and has a purpose, f*****’ genius.

  9. ASAP (As Sincere As Possible) July 15, 2012

When I read the words “far right”, I immediately ran out of f**** to give about the article. All criticism towards them is well deserved and in this case especially Madonna has a point because fasicsm and Hitler inspire the majority of far right parties in Europe.

  10. Miguel July 15, 2012

Well they gotta pretty dumb… she is allowed to use whatever imagery she wants to, she paid for the tapes, it’s art… Like someone can do an art installation and do the same.. it’s her opinion, she’s entitled to it… just like a protester on the street can make a sign of a politician with a Hitler mustache… it’s called Democracy.

  11. POP ROYALTY ( F*** Yo Fav) July 16, 2012

i don’t care about the woman or that nazi s*** , what the f*** is happening on both sides ?!!!!!!!!

    i’m just confused !! f*** this f** who’s holding it !!

  12. Saetana July 16, 2012

Please don’t be fooled – Madonna does not give a flying f*** about the national front one way or the other. Its Ms Attention W**** strikes again – its purely for headlines which she is, unfortunately, getting. The best thing to do with Madonna’s desperate attention seeking behaviour is ignore it, stop giving her publicity TGJ! To put a swastika on the forehead of a woman from a country who were occupied by the Nazis in the second world war is highly offensive – I hope she doesn’t try it in Germany as its a criminal offence there to display swastikas, actually, thinking about it, I hope she does, ROFLMAO ;o)

  13. Tbozfan10 July 16, 2012

There is nothing particularly “far-fetched” in her comparison though. The “National Front” practices the same politics of scapegoating and nationalism that the Nazi party practiced from its earlier days. The nazis didbt begin saying they were going to exterminate people. They began by scapegoating the Jews and preaching the superiority of the so-called “Aryan” race.
