Judging by the looks of things, the scene of being a reality talent show judge is set to be very hot this season. And with reports bombarding the rumor mill that R&B veteran Toni Braxton is set to join the scene, it looks to get even hotter!
With fans long knowing of ‘Dirrty’ diva Christina Aguilera‘s multiseason sit on ‘The Voice’ panel and Britney Spears’ forthcoming stay on ‘X Factor’ , the recent inclusion of multi-octave songbird Mariah Carey on the ‘American Idol’ bench has added much spice to the broth.
As many prepare for the diva showdown, Extra TV tapped Aguilera during a ‘Voice’ season 3 promo run to get her thoughts on Spears’ and Carey’s inclusion on the reality talent show judge lineup.
Never one to hold back, get into what Xtina shared with eXtra after the jump:
Naysayers who thought reality talent shows were on their last breaths may be proven wrong. With this triangle of divadom set to dominate TV screens, it will be interesting to see who reigns victorious in this showdown. As fans may have grown used to Aguilera on NBC’s top rated talent show, will the new kids in town (Mariah & Britney) best the singer on the very format that’s put her back on the map?

“Diva showdown?” What?! Please explain to me how. These women aren’t even on the same show, nor do any of them serve in an executive role behind the scenes of their respective series. All they do is sit in a judges chair judging amateurs. So how in the fuck is this at all a “showdown?” These shows don’t even have anything to do with THEM, by and large.

Talent show competitions have become a ratings battle and are set to bring in large numbers of viewership as opposed to truly developing new talents so of course it’s a competition. They aren’t getting multi-million dollar deals for nothing. Which name will bring in the highest ratings?
I’m thinking Mariah. This is truly the first time Idol has had a real vocalist on that judging panel to judge a vocal competition and she’s legendary and still a relevant force in today’s music industry amongst the Beyonce’s, Rhianna’s, Onika’s, and Katy’s.
Britney is pretty high up there as well. Following all of the drama of her life people are just waiting to see her choke under pressure.

I’ve already seen Christina on The Voice, and she’s great. She’s not all prissy, and cutesy like J.Lo, and Paula. She gives real, constructive criticism.
I’m hoping that once Mariah joins Idol, she takes it easy on the kids cause we already know them chirren are gonna be intimidated, and nervous once one of the iconix greatest vocalist of all time join the judging panel. Lawd knows them kids don’t need to be embarassing themselves in front of a real vocalist.
Britney on X-Factor is going to be great, because she is the biggest and most successful icon of her generation and she had the X-Factor for years. Though she doesn’t do much now, she has a shit load of experience under her belt, and massive star power. I think the general public will overall tune in to see her because she’s still so fascinating, and intriguing.
Having Britney on X-Factor just might tie or top Idol’s ratings, even with Mariah on the show. But I’ll pass on The Voice this season cause I’m gonna be too consumed with watching Brit on X.

Mariah was actually asked to be on the First Season of the X Factor..but something happened. Anyway, I’m looking forward to all the shows..American Idol has been out for 10 yrs, kinda getting old & that may affect the ratings..but if all 3 of these shows were debuting for the 1st time at the same time in the EXACT same week..Mariah would DEFINITELY bring in more ratings. How do you judge success in life? By who makes the most money? or by who is happier? Because I assure you, Christina is not a happy person, she herself has said she deals with chronic depression, has attempted suicide in the past, and still deals with PTS from her childhood abuse, etc. So think twice before calling anyone else a “flop” in life, being a real flop in life is being unhappy and unable to get over shit that happened 20+ years ago.

her movie ‘burlesque’ was not a blockbuster but did fairly well. the sountrack has sold 1 – 1.5 million copies. her feature with maroon 5 was #1 on the bb hot 100 for 6 or 7weeks, in the top 3 for 10 weeks and the top 50 for 47 weeks. it’s one of the biggest selling singles in history and was nominated for a grammy.
tighten up for the barrage of hate hitting the fan in order to break her when she puts out her new album. it’ll get worse when she goes up against the media’s ‘love’ britney on their competing tv shows. it’s no doubt gonna be nasty as it gets.
