Is it Madonna’s impact or Britney &Christina, Justin Timberlake, Nicki & M.I.A and LMFAO’s impact that’s being felt? What does Madonna do solo anymore? Matter of fact where is Madonna when she performs live, you can’t spot her with the 100 people than join her on stage. Since 2000 all she’s been doing is using other artists. Madonna was a force to reckon with between 1983 -1989 and then she did something half way memorable in ’98 with Ray Of Light. Every era besides those have been cheesy and full of gimmicks!
Tbh, Madonna’s only remembered for Vogue, Like A Virgin, Papa Don’t Preach, Like A Prayer and Express Yourself. The Ray Of Light Era stood out from all her others because she’s was really bizarre during that time. Other than that the average person can’t really recall a Madonna song. She’s 90% hype and will never be able to match the talent her peers (MJ, Whitney, Janet &Prince) have!!!!

Madonna has the hits you mentioned from the 80´s and early 90´s. Then she had less influence during a big part of the 90´s and then she did what she needed to do, a big change, with Ray of Light. But not only that album. After that one Music and American life came. And those 3 are her very best albums ever. Maybe her most recognizable hits are the ones from the 80´s but her best albums are those from 1998-2003. Then Confessions album in 2005 was a great dance album (she changed with this one compared to what she was doing on her 3 previous ones).
And then her last two albums I agree are big letdowns, but hey she has offered more than enough forever and ever.

Madonna is the biggest female icon in music… but not the most influential “singer” haha. Leave that to Whitney and the likes. People after them just want to sing like them (failing miserably)
In Pop Music she is the most influential, Whitney, Celine and Mariah are vocalist, those who wants to be a vocalist have Whitney, Celine and Mariah as an inspiration, Madonna’s influence is more visual, Pop is Popular Music so that is what i’m trying to say, don’t you think if Mimi would have still making more Pop songs, her sales would have been still similar to those of the 90’s, i’m talking about Pop, Madonna’s world.

You do have a point, Janet hasn’t had tremendous mainstream pop success in the last decade, but Madonna came in LAST place in the 90’s. Whitney had bigger sales, Mariah had bigger sales, Janet had bigger sales and Celine had bigger sales with studio albums. So Madge and Janet were both down for a decade. They’re even! O_o
I gave ROL it’s recognition, American Life was a dud (during those times in the 90’s). You perhaps, see it as her finest work, but on a larger scale it wasn’t anywhere near successful. You also speak highly of her Confessions album , but that barely did anything substantial in the states. It did numbers ww, but you can’t possibly try to argue that any of Madge’s signature songs came from that era. You see much more of Janet’s influence with Feedback in today’s videos than anything M cooked up during that era. Let’s put aside who gets hype, these artists emulate Janet, they just attach Madonna’s name for approval. Kelly Rowland, Ciara, Britney, Jlo, the late Aaliyah, Usher & Cassie all = Janet recycled.
I get it! Madonna’s this Icon and she’s big around the world. I’m not denying her that. It’s just my opinion here – but I feel Madonna’s one of those artists that gets so much credit for doing so little, when people don’t seem to be moved by more than a third of her work.

Janet Jackson is the Queen of Pop! The Queen should be someone who can appeal to more than the mainstream. Janet Jackson is the ONLY diva out of Madonna, Whitney and Mariah who was able to appeal to an MTV / video generation, R&B, Pop, and Dance – across the board.
Madonna is the queen of mainstream-pop yes, but I believe the Queen of Pop is more than just Mainstream, and Janet Jackson was/is that. Clearly, she scored 5 back to back #1 studios albums in an era when albums actually SOLD. Even in Madonna’s peak, she couldn’t score even score 4 back to back #1 albums.

Now Miss Janet Damita Jo Jackson! She started her career by acting. But also, did some music performance. Sorry Madonna Lovers…Janet knows how to dance better, knows how to acting better, and was the first MTV Icon before any other famous person. After her was other famouns bands not even Madonna has got it yet! Janet also, had the biggest deal with $80 mil. Not even Madonna has that happen for her. Also, As much I like Michael Jackson.
