Hot Shot: Beyonce Visits United Nations Assembly Hall

beyonce i was here e1344596884721 Hot Shot: Beyonce Visits United Nations Assembly Hall

Budding icon Beyonce continues to build her brand outside of music after being named Ambassador for World Humanitarian Day 2012.

The singer, who today shoots a video for the cause (using her much loved hit ‘I Was Here’), took time out to visit the United Nations General Assembly Hall yesterday. There she met with General Secretary Ban Ki Moon, discussing her role as well as how to advance their collective cause.

*********

One can’t but salute Beyonce’s movement. Be it from a musical, performance, or charitable angle, she is the blueprint of how to build a superstar – one generations to come can be proud of and emulate. More power to her!

Your thoughts?

  • Not being rude, as much as I am a fan of Beyonce music, I think its unfair that uneducated people have such high positions of power. She great and works hard but I honestly believe that things of this nature should be help by people who have gone through the educational system famous or not. But what do I know

If she represent being a humanitarian then what’s the problem with her being the ambassador for it. How much or little formal education you have shouldn’t doesn’t matter. for something like this.

Beyonce is plenty educated. Education is not confined to the walls of formal academic institutions. Besides Beyonce is using her celebrity here so i dont know why education has to be brought up. Fan indeed.

Black people always say good things about beyonce PERIOD, POINT BLANK.

You thumbed it down yourself – only to turn around to throw black people under the bus and plus to get others to jump on the “Let’s Bash Black People Band-Wagon I guess that’s one trend that will never go out of fashion “YOU’RE NOT THAT CLEVER” IN-FACT you’re quite PATHETIC and obviously JEALOUS that beyonce was named “Ambassador for World Humanitarian” And to top it off she’s A BLACK WOMAN and it’s driving your ass up a wall – which clearly and concisely explains why you brought race into it. Stop trying to project your feelings of discomfort and jealousy onto black people. Because if you want to get “Technical About It” my friend, it is you who don’t like to see black people progress. You need to know that in order to reach a certain goal or position in life – you have to get off your RACIST ASS at some point in time and with that said stop trying to start shit between black people on this damn blog!

In their DC book, kelly said she and Bey got their GED. I dunno where they make rumours out from. Probably from the same source that told Bey bought her grammys, the millenium award was originally for Britney. Anything to undermine the woman’s achievements

During Dangerously In Love, she support an HIV campaing – including a concert – with Bono Vox (U2) and Nelson Mandela in Africa. She founded Survivor Foundation in 2005. During the I Am Tour and Beyoncé Experience Tour, she donated food and visited many children hospitals to support the them. You don’t know this, because she keeps them private. She doesn’t need to sell these stories to magazines and gossip blogs, post on Twitter or Facebook.

Because it’s not about what they do as it is the person. They have a problem with Beyonce. She’s unrelateable to them cus she didnt have a Britney-like meltdown or act out downright trashy like Rihanna or make snide remarks about her colleagues like Pink. People like someone that’s gravely flawed so they wouldnt feel as pathetic about their own miserable lives. If Beyonce swears in her interviews, i bet u she’ll have less haters cus indecency = “real”

And YES majority of her haters are BLACK people, women in particular !!!

  • I’m a bit hesitant about Beyonce being in this position, she can barely form a proper sentence so not sure how this will play out, her star status will bring attention but her inability to articulate well will be a problem. Alicia Keys have been working with the UN for many years on AIDS and Women issues, and she is a wonderful spokes person, Alicia is however a genius and graduated high school at age 16 and was admitted to Columbia so she is clearly a better person to be in a position like this. We shall see. Beyonce is just not what comes to mind when I think about an ambassador. Maybe it’s just me.

  • I think Beyonce is a lovely choice for this position. She’s very positive and everything in her career reflects that. It’s in her music (she’s always had material that uplifted women and encouraged them to be proud and stand united). She’s worked with so many women (for charity and on a personal level). You can tell that she believe’s that there’s strength in numbers when it comes to making a difference. I think that’s why she’s so quick to lend her name and support to these causes(like the Stand Up To Cancer campaign/song for example).

Bey humble , she’s paid homage to so many of her idols (MJ, Whitney Houston, Donna Summer, Prince). You can tell that she has a genuine spirit. She respect those who’ve paved the way for her and open doors.

She’s virtuous , she didn’t have to give Taylor Swift the floor when accepting her VMA award after the big Kanye controversy. Still, she had no ego and she gave Taylor her moment to make her acceptance speech. Same with her defending Lauryn Hill after Mindless behavior inappropriately insulted her with a tasteless remark at the BET awards. She stands up for what’s right!

Beyonce clearly isn’t as selfish as some of you would like to make her out to be. If you can’t see that by now, you never will. Some of you can hold on to all the strife in the DC years (when they were teens). When Bey gave every member credit and a mention at the Billboard awards that was enough for me. That’s all you can do to right a wrong after you’ve moved on pass a low point in your life. It’s a dozen years later now (since Say My Name)! She didn’t have to be everyone’s savior. All of them branched out and was able to make a name for themselves individually.

It’s not too many women that carry themselves the way that Bey does in the industry and I wish that sometimes her own people(as well as any human being that’s incapable of being perfect throughout their entire life) could just cut her some slack occasionally.

Beautifully worded. Part of why i love Beyonce. I know she is genuine because industry insiders, contemporaries, legends and rookies have nothing but the nicest words to say about her. She has displayed her virtues countless times too but the naysayers will always pass it off as fake. It’s ironic that none of these people have actually met her b4. One of her great attributes is her tenacity. She is never one to feed into negativity and that’s the best policy. If she did, it’d be the ammunition they need to go in harder. Her personal & professional lanes are on track and that’s all that matters.

  • Welch stopped by WXRT Chicago’s Live at Lollapalooza broadcast before her Sunday evening set to chat with Marty Lennartz about her tough tour schedule and some of the surreal moments of her time on the road.

It’s an odd phenomenon to hear the artists we gush about in turn gush about meeting their own musical heroes. It’s easy to forget that idolization isn’t exclusive to us music-loving plebes and that even the biggest and best musicians are human too. Welch’s voice takes on a dreamy vibe when she mentions meeting some of her favorite musicians.

“I’ve met lots of crazy people. I’ve danced with Paul McCartney at the Met Ball and I was dressed as David Bowie, with bleached eyebrows so that was sort of a bizarre moment in my life,” Welch laughs. “It was a joy meeting Jay-Z and Beyonce, which was surreal because they’re sort of the king and queen of music.”

While it sounds like Welch has had quite an eventful tour, she says that it has been an exhausting experience. Since her debut Lungs in 2009, Welch really hasn’t taken a break from touring.

“I think we’ve been tour for about three years and it’s pretty much what we do now. It does get to the stage where you just cry all the time,” Welch says.

And what does she have planned for the rest of the year?

“Tour, tour, tour, tour, tour, tour, tour. I don’t know, get committed or something.”

Good if it has positive consecuences
But really I´m sick of Beyonce fans trying to impose titles when it comes to her. Dear Sam an icon or musical legend doesn´t need to be “build” that way. The impact and sales huge way speak for themselves when it comes to icons. I don´t see how Beyonce is on that level with true unique icons and legends. It seems at 30 she losing lots of popularity already, so I don´t see it happening at this point
