So, perhaps in realization of her rising influence, FOX’s ‘American Idol‘ have reportedly called on the Rapper to sit on their judging panel, alongside ‘Prisoner Of Love‘ diva Mariah Carey.
Set to announce the news this evening, Minaj’s alleged joining of the show has thus far struck opinion between both her fans and supporters of the show- responsible for birthing the careers of Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood and Fantasia.

Talent shows are not based in talent, they are interested in famous people as judges, example…J.Lo, Britney ect, ect….it’s getting worse with Nicki Minaj, she is not interesting at least J.Lo is beautiful, have a lovely personality and there was Steven Tyler a Rock legend and Britney is Britney but we still have people like Mariah Carey, Xtina and Billie Joe Armstrong. Can you imagine Mariah and Nicki in the same panel, Mariah will explode.

And it’s not just because she can’t sing to save her life ( and she obviously can’t). She has no stage presence and no real industry/ showbiz experience either. All the previous Idol judges were at least considered industry moguls to compensate for their lack of musical knowledge. How is Nicki going to judge vocalists?
Besides, I can’t imagine how Nicki and Mariah can co-exist in the same judging panel.

No one can revive american idol, especially Onika. This show is played out, who’s really successful after this show anyway besides the first 4 seasons when it was fresh. Just end the show already! Why does everybody think that they would choose Nicki to gain ratings? Idol is considered a family show and I don’t think there are many 50-year old housewives singing along to “Bitches ain’t shit and they can’t say nothing, cause I beez in the trap”. Therefore, if ratings is what they’re going for, Nicki is not cutting it. Mariah was a good choice for their audience, though.

American Idol was not about the judges…well except for Simon. We liked his honesty. The show was about finding really hot talent. Nicki’s talent is questionable. How could she judge. JLO and all her glama Couldn’t keep that job. She’s actually a triple threat in this business. I thought Diddy was in the running. That would of been great to watch. He can be pretty blunt.

I really can’t see Nicki on this show…. Well you know what, I actually CAN see her on this show *side eyes Lil Mama*, but it will look so silly to watch her give criticism to another person when she RAPS and TRIES to sing. Plus she hasn’t even been in the music business for a long time. Even IF she was in the industry for a while, I STILL won’t even be able to accept her on the show.

Judging American Idol clearly has no correlation to having ANY vocal talent whatsoever (given the show’s past judges, with the NOTABLE exception of Miss Carey). So in that sense I don’t think Nicki Minaj is ineligible for the job. I don’t like her for her stank attitude and poor artistry though, so I won’t be checking for her anytime soon. Although I was/am excited to see what Mariah has to say. She was the best guest mentor on the show, and I think she will be fantastic!

I don’t think she’s right, Mariah is already coming from a heavy R&B background. Why would they have another black artist. What are 2 black hip-hop judges supposed to do with the rock or country contestants? Just blink politely? It’s recipe for disaster. Mariah is such a great choice but adding Nicki is too much black power for a show that is supposed to be AMERICAN IDOL. They shoulda have gotten someone to CONTRAST Mariah. A more rock or country artist. So the panel is gonna be 3 black folk up there, I don’t think it’s gonna go well. I’m worried that the non-black, R&B contestants will suffer. BUT we can only see.

American Idol certainly is NOT Nicki Minaj’s original audience. But hell she is wantign to be the ultimate POP star, not Rap superstar. So maybe it is logical for her to do so.
Embarassing toward Hip Hop, sort of. I’d actualyl rather see someone like Diddy alogn side Mariah judging on the show. Only thing is he did/or still does have his Making The Band franchize. Might be a conflict.
I could also def see Idol producers eye-ing for a Mariah vs. Nicki diva feud constantly in the gossip mags, to get up ratings. Even tho they worked 2g on a song, doesn’t mean week after week they are besties and want to be around each other. Can’t believe MC would allow another female on panel! Shocking in all honesty, IMO!
Plus with MC’s supposed pay cut, how little are they gonna offer Nick i for it? I’d expect no less than 10 million. . .

It’s a good move. American Idol is a show basically training people to be superstars. Whether you like Nicki or not she is one. Being a superstar isn’t JUST about being able to sing. There are tons of people out there that can sing their asses off but won’t make it to a Rihanna, Katy, Nicki, Gaga level. It’s also about being able to brand yourself, you have to be prepared for fame & all that comes with it, you have to develop a strong work ethic. These are areas that Nicki is very familiar with & has succeeded in. These are areas that a lot of people no matter how great they may sing, still have to learn. A lot of people want to be famous but have no real idea of what they are getting into or the demands it holds, Nicki does. Everyone trying to win the competition would kill to have a career like Nicki in 2 years & a career like Mariah in 20. This will also bring in viewers cuz American Idol had been a tad bland in recent years.
