The MTV Video Music Awards were doused with a splash of colour today, after it was announced that Pop rebel Pink will be performing.

The five-time VMA winner joins Alicia Keys and pin-up’s One Direction on the list of performers confirmed for the September 6th extravaganza.
According to MTV, the 32 year old is slated to debut a new cut from her forthcoming LP ‘The Truth About Love’ – which arrives two weeks later on September 18th.
Speaking of her participation in one of music’s biggest calendar nights, the ‘Blow Me’ singer said:
“It’s always one of the more enjoyable shows because it’s relaxed and it’s kind of rock and roll and unpredictable and everyone is having a good time
Being a part of the VMAs for me is extra special because my mom never let me used to watch MTV as a little girl. I would watch it anyway but she would also try and ground me but then I would just sneak out my window and go to someone’s house that had MTV so to be on MTV is quite ironic.”
The VMA’s 2012 take place live from Los Angeles’ Staples Center on September 6th. Comedian Kevin Hart has been announced as this year’s host.
