Vocal Bible Brandy is preaching the gospel on how to keep your buzz a’buzzin. For, less than a week after releasing the video for her still rising single ‘Put It Down’, the songbird has unwrapped its follow-up, ‘Wildest Dreams’.
Produced by The Bizness and penned by Sean Garrett, the next taste of ‘Two Eleven’ awaits after the jump…
Yes!
A refreshing change of pace from its predecessor. We like. Do you…

R&B is dead, only a famous person could save it and she’s not famous and why Black people acts like R&B is the best Music genre, i don’t like the generic dance Music we have on the radio today but still there is no genre better than another. The song is horrible, she is trapped in the 90′s.

are you really about to do a black vs. white thing? the only thing many black people agree on in terms of “popular muisc” is that we invented (or innovated) most of the genres to have OTHERS come steal it. So when people say they want r&b to come back its not to say that its the best music around, its simply to state that we (and not just black folk) would like something a little more authentic sounding on the radio. So, if you wouldn’t mind… do us a favor and get a hint from your own screen name. thanks

“why Black people acts like R&B is the best Music genre”
Because it is. I don’t care what you don’t like. R&B is heads and tails superior to dance music. On or off the radio, dance and pop music is garbage. It’s cheese. Totally flavorless and stiff.
Brandy’s not trapped in the 90′s, she’s simply not desperate, corny, or untalented enough to resort to hopping onto an inferior genre of music — dance — that caters to shallow white dumbasses in skinny jeans who are more concerned about what sounds better as a ringtone than music that actually compliments her actual talent.
Not her fault that you are into talentless artists who have to resort such unserious and cookie-cutter styles of music to camouflage it.

Heh. Everyone here hates you Suicide Blonde. You’re like that dorky kid who tries to hang around the popular lunch table, despite how obvious it is that no one wants you around. It’s pathetic. You’re pathetic. This is not your crowd. This is an urban-y music site that largely caters to black people who think R&B is the best music genre.
Go find some gay ass pop music site where you can discuss Lana Del Rey, Carly Rae Jepsen, Katy Perry and Britney Spears with the rest of the fruitcakes and queens who wanna twirl around to strobe light dance music and pretend that they’re girls.
What’s the matter, are you so out of place in life that even people who share your corny interests and taste in music don’t want you around either? Is that why you hang out here? Do even Madonna fans hate you too? Man, you lame. Just corny. All around corny.
Happy to oblige you on the dislikes. Already up to -29. Let’s see if we can go for a record.

Other artists in the industry look up to Brandy’s vocal talents and what she has offered the R&B community. Did you know that it is other artists and producers in the industry that refer to Brandy as the VOCAL BIBLE? She didn’t give herself that title and neither did her STARZ. She is a force to be reckoned with, and it’s clearly got you shook. Did you know Rihanna and Chris Brown sing her songs before the perform as a vocal warm up? You must be a teen and have no clue of history and who paved the way for the rest of these industry princesses.

Well, I’m glad that she finally got the hint that “Put It Down” wasn’t going anywhere but this song also isn’t single material and it sounds dated. This era in her music is just a mess. This song has zero crossover appeal and I’ll still be supporting her album whenever it’s released because I do love her voice but I just don’t see this song going anywhere or her album having that much of an impact on the charts. I could be wrong but I don’t think so and her promo and single selections prove it.

Some people just don’t get music. This is Brandy’s LANE and the reason why some of you don’t like it is because you’re not USED TO this lane. Why? Because NO ONE ELSE is in Brandy’s lane.
Get out of your bubble gum pop infested minds and RIDE with this song. It’s not meant for you to booty bounce to. It’s a “windows down driving down the blvd while the sun sets” type of song.
She gave PID to make people LEAN and ya’ll say she’s not staying true. Now she kicks into her roots and she’s BORING.

but I was dissapointed with first listen to my surprise. I didnt want to believe it, but I was.
Her team isnt choosing the right singles in my opinion, I still think her album will have hotter and stronger songs than the first two.
This sounds good, her voice is unique and her harmonies, but the production feels weak, and more from a mixtape than a comeback album like Two Eleven.
I hope the snippets shock me, if not it would be really sad to be dissapointed with such a hyped album (with those amazing names, both producers and writers)

People ask for a current happening sound she gives it with the Put It Down and Wildest Dreams and its not enough. It got that 90s and rnb sound to it because thats just her sound. Thats her roots.. She can’t help it. I think Wildest Dreams will sell. and do pretty good. Way better than Put It Down. I’m just happy to hear music from her. People say they want real music they get it then its boring or garbage. I dont get why Brandy get all this negativity but the people that don’t like her willing to down her or listen to the songs. I wonder WHY it’s a “single” song….
Brandy said she thought this album was her “last chance” well… at least she has a tyle perry movie coming up. Seems Mr.Perry steps in to save a career when he knows what is going to happen. Look at Janet… it’s sad to see the stars we grew up with get old and loose their touch with what we fell in love with them for.

Good song…. great vocals…. however , this should not be her next single. I fucking love Brandy, but this second single will not help with sales. And it aint always about album sales, but I wanna see her back on the charts…..
Again, the vocals were everything. This woman’s voice is ridiculous….

Anyway, I must say that Brandy delivered! On my first listen it was a bit confusing, because I wasn’t sure if I “got it” right away. Then after I heard the song again, I fell in love. Then I played it again and I was in owe of Brandy. Then again because I love the song. This has been going on for a minute now. I’m so proud of Brandy.

I think as fans we tend to not be as realistic….. putting aside the fact that Brandy is one of my favorite vocalist and the song isnt bad……if you look at the charts, both r&b and pop…this song has no place on there.
And maybe Brandy aint worried about chart positions, and if thats the case, she should release whatever she feels good about. Its just after watching her Behind the Music and listening to the way she down played the greatness of Afrodisiac and the brilliance of Human, it seems that Brandy is concerned about sales and chart positions….
this song will get lost….and be forgotten….

you made the point.
Most of us love Brandy, but many of the fans arent realistic at all.
Urban AC will like this, for sure, but this song wont be #1 on Billboard top 100 or worldwide.
She wants to win, the same as her fans, but those two songs arent big enough.
What about us, Have u ever, Full moon…. ALL were stronger than these.
I dont understand her label at all, with all those producers and these two are the best singles?
I really doubt it. I hope they have hot stuff for future singles, really hope it.

I love her. I’m rooting for her. I’m still on board for her comeback, which is shaping up to be great, but I have to be brutally honest and say that this song is not doing it for me. I respect and appreciate its concept (throwback to the 90′s/ smooth vocals etc), but it falls short. Brandy has created some true gems in her career, especially in her 2nd and 3rd albums and this song is not of the same quality as her impressive back catalogue. It might grow on me of course, but still it’s not as good as I expected it to be.

People get it together!!!! First people complain It All Belongs To Me and mind you it was a decent track, people complain, then you wonder why real artists bring out crap music because people don’t want to support real music anymore or they stop making music altogether. I’m sorry Brandy doesn’t have to prove to nobody, her music is true, if you don’t like it, then don’t listen to it. period.Until you been making records for 18 years, you should STFU!!!!

I think what people mean when they say this song is not great is that it’s not catchy like a lot of what’s in the charts but realistically a lot of what is considered catchy is not even worthy of the term song…, more often than not what people are loving is the beat. I agree with some that this song his song does not really leave a big impression on first listen like ‘S&M’ for example but I’d be lying if I said I though that song was anywhere as good as ‘WD’s’ in terms of song-craft and delivery.
I have to admit on first listen I didn’t love it as while the beat is steady, vocally there is a lot going on but honestly once I gave it a second listen something happened and the song just blew me away. It’s so laid-back and (un)trie-hard in it’s delivery and Brandy’s vocals…, Damn that woman SANG the hell out of this track but in the most easy-going way. Last up, I agree this should not be a single but it definitely needs releasing to radio-asap as it is definitely a stone top down, driving through the city tuuuuuune lol!

Ugh. You naysayers are just upset that she didn’t come out with some vapid bubble gum aerobics dance-pop song with a hook so mindlessly simple that a 4 year old could sing along with it. I’m trying to see the world of music move on from that crap. I would be horribly disappointed if Brandy became another desperate R&B singer who jumped ship to cater to the entities that approve of that garbage.
This is Brandy being herself. If you want a fake, bubble-headed, go-with-wherever-the-wind blows type of singer, then go listen to Rihanna. She’ll give you dumb but catchy shopping mall pop. Brandy has always appealed to the round-the-way crowd. I see no need for that to change now.

This is the song she and Sean Garett played on Ustream. They only played like the first 3 seconds of it. I like it. It’s a true R&B song.
People have forgotten what real music is today. They are so used to the mindless nursery school rhyme anthems that are playing on the radio and in the mall. One thing about Brandy is she will not compromise her integrity for a hit.

Most of the songs released by artists who are not catering to popular radio will not reach #1 and will perform mediocrely on the bb100. It’s sad but true. This affects not only R&B but alternative rock, indie etc. I say this to the numbers, who cares. This song is better than 80% of the songs in the top 10. If we don’t change our mindset of what success is we will continue to get the crap that we’ve been getting. I feel those who support pther gentes are not as concerned with numbers. They want quality music. A lot of the songs that are musically genius we probably will never hear unless you take the time to search and are a lover of creativity. I will support this song and album. Put it down wasn’t a bad song, it was meant to grab your attention, obviously it did its job we are sitting here listening to the second single. Put it Down honestly gave this song a shot of being heard. Great song. It’s a jammer not a bump hop and skip track.

I love this song! The beat, piano, lyrics, and most importantly, her voice! It really reminds me of the 90s. The song is so Brandy. I don’t understand what people expect from Brandy. She releases “Put It Down” and it’s “too juvenile” because she’s 33. She puts out this beautiful “Wildest Dreams” and it’s “too boring” and not “radio friendly” or “catchy” enough. The reality is that those people chose to not give Brandy a chance, therefore nothing she puts out will satisfy their musical tastes (or lack thereof). I am routing for Brandy, and I cannot wait to hear whet else she has in store for us with 2Eleven.

I don’t buy singles i buy ALBUMS. However, we live a singles driven music world, so I worry about a song like this.
I love it but people keep expecting or wanting Brandy to get a “hit.” I never bought a single from “Brandy” “Never Say Never” “Full Moon” “Afrodisiac” or “Human,” I bought the ALBUMS because I knew there was no need to buy the singles because I was buying the album.
This is the same for the new album. Not buying the singles but I’m definitely buying the album.
But artists like Brandy, who are interested in cultivating cohesive ALBUMS, get punished.
*hops off my soapbox*
Anyway, I LOVE this song & I cannot wait until the album drops.

I believe you got it exactly right! The industry these days is single driven and not album driven. Back in the days people’s album sales were higher because people actually went out and got an album after hearing one or two songs. And the digital market didn’t exist.
Brandy is a real artist always working to make great cohesive albums and changing her sound. None of her albums have sounded the same. I’m checking for B-Rocka hard this go round! She played a snippet of this long a while back on ustream mainly the intro.

From the time the beat drops I was bobbing my head. It has a 90s meets 2012 feel to it. I believe this is the direction she’s heading down with this entire album. Giving all the fans a sense of the Brandy they know and fell in love with from back in the 90s and early 2000s but with a 2012 edge sonically. “Put It Down” is played multiple times a day on the radio and is eating its way up the charts surely. I’m confident she’s determined not to disappoint her fans with this project. If anything she wants it to be pleasing to those people who have supported her throughout the years.
