New Song : Melanie Amaro – ‘Don’t Fail Me Now’

Published: Wednesday 1st Aug 2012 by David

Get into ‘Don’t Fail Me Now‘, the brand spanking new jam by X Factor winner Melanie Amaro.

Launched exclusively by our friends over at US magazine, the song awaits your very first listen below…

Though it pains us to say it, ‘Fail’…might be just that.

Underwhelming on a lyrical front and lack luster on a production tip, the cut is not worthy of Melanie‘s talent or fresh hype and it is for these reasons we hope it isn’t used as the first single.

For in a bid to serve up something contemporary, Amaro has sacrificed the skill and originality that took her to the top last year.

Better off serving something akin to Alexandra Burke‘s ‘Heartbreak On Hold’ or a mid tempo in the vein of Vanessa Carlton’s ‘A Thousand Miles‘, here’s hoping this isn’t indicative of the rest of the album we can’t wait to get our hands on.

    #FAILED

  3. IKNOWTHETRUTH August 1, 2012

I SECOND THAT. UM………SHE NEEDED SOMETHING A LITTLE MORE IN THE VAIN OF LITTLE MIX’S “WINGS” OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. THIS SINGLE IS HORRIBLE AND UNORIGINAL AND IT SOUNDS RECYCLED AND SHE DOESN’T STAND OUT VOCALLY OR WITH THE SONG IN GENERAL. HER LABEL IS WRONG FOR THIS. IT SOUNDS LIKE A KNOCK OFF KELLY ROWLAND TRACK THAT SHE DIDN’T INCLUDE ON ‘HERE I AM’.

Well it matches that FAIL of a single cover. I expected so much more from her. Well LA Ried need to go back to the drawing board and focus on Ciara. Overdose anyone?

  9. I take it back August 1, 2012

It’s pretty good, listen to it a couple of times, but still not #1 material.

  10. DR August 1, 2012

Not sure why, but it reminds me of Leona Lewis a lot. I honestly LOVE this song, but I don’t think it’ll get much airplay.

  11. MC August 1, 2012

I like her and this song, but like Sam and everyone else is saying it is a lackluster and unoriginal. I hope she makes it, but this doesn’t seem like a chart-topper. Hope if pulls for you, hon.

I think it’s pretty safe to say that this was intended for mainstream pop radio/top 40…Melanie Amaro is very talented and gifted vocally so IMO I think she is holding back and I’m sure that when we hear her VOICE slaying on some ballad, people will really start to listen, but this is not what I was expecting after almost a year, but I must say that I do not dislike this track either, it’s very dancy and inspiring and fun, I’ll buy it..!!

  13. THE LEGENDARY LAX August 1, 2012

I expected something better and not this Trash……..she can do better than this…..I hope this is not the lead single…if it is….FLOP

  15. I’m not throwing shade, but… August 1, 2012

There is no doubts that Melanie can sing, but i never thought she was as great as the masses made her out to be…. and this proves it. The song is rubbish and sounds like a demo for Kelly Clarkson that was rejected, the only difference is that Kelly would’ve breathed some (although it seems impossible) into this bland generic song maybe making it just about bearable…. Melanie does not. The art of a vocalist is not to blow everyone away singing other peoples songs that already have a melody for you to adapt, or other people’s songs that you’ve practiced and sung for years, the art of a vocalist is to be able to make an original song catchy and memorable… this time Melanie does neither. I wish her luck with the first single… this is now known as a buzz single.

I actually like the song. It’s easy to listen to, no screaming or yelling over the track. There’s no doubt that Melanie is a star but I feel she’s in a situation similar to Jennifer Hudson. They don’t know what to do with her musically and she’ll eventually branch off into acting.

    • number1k9 August 1, 2012

LMFAO, at branch into acting, such a shame!

  17. TINO August 1, 2012

  21. Izzy August 1, 2012

I don’t like it but I’m sure this song will get marketed to some movie or product! xfactor ain’t give 5million$ for nothing lol

  23. TAYLOR SWIFTS NUMBER 1 FAN!!! August 1, 2012

    Okay, I like it.

  24. Steve August 1, 2012

It’s a cool song, but I expected some real R&B type music from her. Her voice is so much better than this song. This sounds like a rejected Jordin Sparks song. I’ve been rooting for her since her XFactor audition, so imma need for HER to now fail me now.

  25. mr.m August 1, 2012

    FLOPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP

  26. you August 1, 2012

  27. keep it 100% August 1, 2012

this is the outcome when you don’t learn how to write your own music!!you get deadout pop tracks

  28. number1k9 August 1, 2012

I don’t think it is terrible, bt it is WAY corny. Corny in the way, like it would have been a perfect X Factor WINNER’S SINGLE song choice. But to lead an album, I agree with the ppl on yesterday’s post.

This girl has island roots, why would you not take advantage of that! I mean its summer time, first single…. all the right elements for an uptempo R&B/Pop/Island vibe hybrid single.

Well, I did not hate the song, sorta like a good album Bonus Track, or filler materiel at best. Single worthy, like I said, only really Winner’s Single materiel. Which should have been released 8 months ago, if that were the case.

BUTTTTT I did dig the songs vocal production. Showed she has a vocal range, but didn’t belt it until the later chorus/outro. That was smart. Kudos for whoever’s idea it was on that tip!

  29. George August 2, 2012

it’s not the worst thing out there at the moment. But was hoping for something a bit more.

  30. getoutofhere August 2, 2012

I hope this isnt the 1st single for Melanie. She can do so much better than this. I need the record company to go back and try again. She blew “Listen” by Beyonce out the park.. give us something like that!

  33. JUSTbeinHONEST August 8, 2012

this track put me to sleep its always good to make your first single something that gets in peoples heads and makes them move….. this just bores you
