The long-awaited (and much needed) video for Mariah Carey‘s ‘Triumphant’ arrived moments ago. Check out the Nick Cannon directed clip below…
Given that ol’ Mimi is fighting for her commercial relevancy these days, we’d have much preferred she duke it out in the ring herself instead of prancing around like she’s 20.
She’d have done herself a respectable service had served up a truly inspirational clip ala ‘Through The Rain’ to mirror the cut’s lyrics. Or better yet something fresh and out of the box. Yes, she looks stunning for 42, but why insist on force-feeding a sex appeal that vanished in 2001?
With the song sitting outside of the iTunes Top 100, this was Ms. Carey-Cannon’s shot at serving up a visual that’d grant the cut a sure-fire chance of rebounding. Yet, beyond the glitter and gloss, there’s not much to see here; a fact which could prove fatal given that the track itself has failed to move the masses on its own accord.
We patiently await what will, no doubt, be christened her new “first single”.

oh dear. This is just tragic. She needs some kind of ‘strength’ to offset the ‘sexy’.
If she was in the ring, duking it out with herself or someone else it would have been much more enjoyable.
Thats why ‘heartbreaker’ and ‘honey’ were so good, she had strength which made it funny and the sexy was relevant.

This video was a typical Mariah Carey video. I don’t know why people are acting so surprised that she still insists on wearing clothing two sizes too small and prancing around as though she’s still in her 20s. It was barely acceptable back when she was actually making good music, however, it most definitely isn’t appropriate or fitting now when her material is sub-par and she is in dire need of having this record being taken seriously. She needs to stop and remember the musical force that she once was in music. If she can no longer deliver the songs that she used to; for whatever reason then she needs to stop making a mockery out of her legacy and retire. It’s painful to see musical icons such as Mariah and Madonna not know when to stop and bow out gracefully.

Mariah herself is the one and only saving grace of this mess of a video! She looks amazing, no doubt!
Everything else is a no-no. The rappers got a bigger role than she did. They took over the song and now they took over the video. Mariah has to get MUCH more shine than this in her own lead single. Hearing the title ‘Triumphant’, I expected this would be the song that would put her back on top after years of missteps, but so far it seems to be backfiring. Honestly, the song isn’t a first single. But, I definitely think it’s at least album worthy. One of the songs you listen to, & truly get a meaning of some essence & substance. I for one did not like the song at 1st, but it’s growing on me. The video is actually nice, & I like how Mariah let the storyline play out & serve a purpose, because it made the video more fitting to the song. However, Mariah is really serving to be one dimensional in her artistry. What purpose did she serve in the actual video? She just pranced around in her hot body. This is not a Jenny Craig or Weight Watchers commercial. Sure the role she played in the video was relevant, they have women like that when they do boxing matching prance around like that, but can she actually do anything else. Could she have been a actress in her video? & this is not hate, this is constructive criticism. I don’t hate her, not the biggest fan. But she is a legend/icon. She should not have played back seat to a freaking Rick Ross & Meek Mill. What kind of Comeback or Comeback single is that? I really liked the video and she looked great….still wish they would take out the rappers, but I still like it. Def. not #1 material, but I still enjoy it. Firstly; She looks HOT! Okay so we all agree that we would have preferred a Mariah only singled but we didn’t get that, so putting that aside I think the video over all was quite essthseticaly pleasing. Some of the editing was a lil dodgy- too many shots of mariah too far away from the camera, not facing the camera and too many of her as the ‘ring girl’…they should have stuck with her as the manager…maybe her in her office giving her fighter (meek Mill) advice when it came to her solo…Other than that I enjoyed the clip, though I do think she needs to expand on who she employs to direct them, although I’m sure she wouldn’t need to Pay her husband…I’m just glad he didn’t make a cameo in this one…

Mimi may be emancipated, but she’s back between the ropes — into the boxing ring, specifically — in the just released a new video for her current single “Triumphant (Get ‘Em),” which also features rappers Rick Ross and Meek Mill.
As with anything from Carey’s universe, there’s a distinct level of glittery fabulosity to the clip. Dressed to the nines in a couple of chic, midriff-baring dresses — girl looks good! — Carey is a part of rapper Meek Mill’s entourage, who’s playing the boxer at the center of the action. Rick Ross is also a sundry member of the boxer’s crew. Do you get it? The winner of the match will be triumphant!
The best part is when Carey plays the role of a “boxing ring girl” (yes, this is a technical term — I looked it up) and holds up various cards announcing rounds. The oddest part is that, while Carey is clearly the star of the show, she relinquishes lots of precious screen time over to Meek Mill and Rick Ross for their rapping interludes. Carey would be nothing more than a pretty-girl after-thought if it weren’t for those card-carrying moments and the cuts to her in front of a — you guessed it — a glittery screen (inventive!). But, in the end, it’s all very fitting for the song’s vibe.

I love love love it! More than what I thought. Basically all one can ask for in a Mariah Carey video. It fits the song perfectly. And the song has grown on me big time. Way better than Touch my Body and Obsessed
She looks HOT and it´s not boring at all despite not being Mariah´s biggest virtue (her videos). I mean come on, haters are so delusional, Mariah has never made Gaga or Lana del Rey´s type of videos. What the hell are you expecting?
Not even when she was at her peak in mid 90´s (yeah that kind of peak your favs will never have) she was making memorable vids, in fact most of them were always low budget and her just singing. It is what she does, Whitney or Celine never did those kind of innovative videos either

How can he see slayage in all Kelly Rowland and Brandy songs and videos and praising every single boring release by them but bash Mariah again and again? Even Mariah´s weakness (vieos) is better than those girls videos. How can that new Brandy video be so amazing and one the years best but this Mariah one is a no? I don’t Stan for Kelly Rowland,or brandy.
But so far both of brandy’s singles,Kelly Rowland’s ice,faith tears of joy,tamia beautiful surprise,pink new singles,and a list of others are better than “triumphant”.
Had Beyonce,Kelly,Pink,Alicia or anybody else release a song and video like this. You would throw them under the bus.

So disappointed … The video sucks… Mariah is a great singer. The concept of video could have been great (i.e No Church in Wild) but instead of Mariah owning the video she is just a feature artist just like the song. The video lacks depth basically Meek was “the star”. Mariah is an icon but this video does nothing for this single.

I agree. I had to ask myself, “Is this Mariah’s song, or is it Meek’s or Rick’s song?” They dominated the song, which made it appear that Mariah was a guest star on it. Nick did an okay job with the directing, so I’ll cut him some slack on that. While Mariah is a beautiful woman and has a gorgeous body after giving birth to twins, I think it’s high time that she starts to cover up. She doesn’t have to walk around like an old spinster, but she doesn’t have to act as if she’s 20-years-old either.

I’m not a fan of this version of the song but I thought she looked really good. The Pulse Remix is my favorite version of this song. I don’t get the hate on Nick for doing the video. I have liked all the videos he has directed. As long as she looks good in it then I could care less about her clothing choices and especially in a video. But I would like to see her do something completely different with her hair. Given that the album doesn’t drop for awhile I’m hoping the feedback on this song is taken into consideration and spares us of unnecessary collabos.
