Eve: “I’m Ready To Release Lip Lock”

Published: Thursday 20th Sep 2012 by David

Eve is coming back!

Joining Missy Elliott and Lil Kim on the 2012 come back trail, the ‘Who’s That Girl’ has revealed she is now ready to release her hotly anticipated new album, ‘Lip Lock‘.

Sharing the news with Hip Hollywood, she confirmed the LP’s arrival ten years after releasing her last LP ‘Eve-olution‘.

Her announcement below…

Here’s hoping Eve has been crafting material worthy of a ten year wait, and is aware that it’ll take a lot of work to regenerate the fan base she’ll need to move units… in any capacity.

Though we’re sure she’ll bring the heat on a lyrical tip, we’re not sure her current set up will see her afforded the promotional push she’ll need to dominate in the way she needs to.

For, and while we hate to compare, Nicki Minaj‘s choke hold on Female Rap is sure to make a come back for any Femcee difficult, especially now she has become the standard much of the public holds these Femcees up and against.

So, as long time fans of the ‘Ruff Ryder‘, we hope the coming year will see Eve use all her available to ensure this new album is at the very least a critical success.

A success, which will take more than a few appearances on 106 & Park to enjoy but rather an assault on all avenues- a new movie, collaborations, magazine spreads, TV specials. Anything, to force feed her new cause to the masses.

  2. A.MILIAN September 20, 2012

IMMA NEED TO SEE PROOF… A SINGLE RELEASE DATE… ALBUM COVER, TRACKLISTING. SOMETHING OTHER THAN JUST A SHORT VIDEO… I CANT WAIT THOUGH

  3. RomanNavi September 20, 2012

Yes! This b**** WILL deliver and everyboy WILL deal!! Eve does not disappoint.

I just hope she doesn’t try this rapper comeback thing with beats/production that belongs in the 1990s

    • SBC19 September 20, 2012

How she went out is how she’ll return. Eve is not gonna forget she’s black and hip hop. She ain’t gonna come out with some gay ass dance/pop song for gay white boys in skinny jeans and the wannabe white black kids.

      • FAF September 20, 2012

        U mean Tambourine??

      • mobwife: 4-Years-Old :-) September 20, 2012

        “U mean Tambourine??”

        *DEAD* 🙂

      • ITAINTYOBABY September 21, 2012

u need to step outside of the box and open your mind there nothing wrong with being gay and just because a black person use proper English doesn’t mean they’re trying to be white. I rock to pop/dance/r&b/rock/rap that gutter ish too so fall back.

Eve is going to bring it and to thatgrapejuice staff Nicki isn’t the standard if your talking about album success in real hip hop that goes to Lauryn Hill’s debut The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, the media and most these blogs trying to brainwash that mess into people heads. We need someone that’s not going with the trend.

    • LOURDES September 21, 2012

I was about to say. Eve is Hollywood now. She aint gonna be rapping about the Philly streets anymore. I’m sure it’s gonna be Nicki Minaj-esque music with less gimmicks.

Ain’t nobody scared of Nicki’s pop ass. These returns are all years in the making and would have happened NOW whether or not ridiculous Flo Rida’s female counterpart was around or not.

      • FAF September 20, 2012

    • FAF September 20, 2012

      Bottomline__________

      /Close thread.

    • Stav September 20, 2012

      Bwhahahahaha.

Methinks you’re the one who’s scared that the ***real*** female emcees (who are above pandering to the One Direction/Katy Perry crowd) are coming back and will make Nicki look like the weak little cartoon muppet she is.

    • ImMadAsHell September 21, 2012

How can anybody with an 2nd cd flopping got anybody scare. They all got to be laughing at Nicki.

Kim 2nd cd NK went platinum in 36 days. I’m sure both Eve and Missy 2nd cd didn’t take 8 months to go platinum.

  9. prettigurlrockD September 20, 2012

Okay she’s a good rapper. But she’s washed up now. Give it up. We don’t want to see u coming back with some lame ass raps like lil kim.

And she looks like she’s jacking Brianna Perry here.

    • J. September 20, 2012

You ignorant b****. Eve was never like Kim to start with, so why would she suddenly swagger jack her now? Kim already has a phony “Mini-Me” version of her on the scene right now, who is marketed to kids born after 1996 and don’t know any better. Be quiet. Seriously, shut up.

      • FAF September 20, 2012

Girl, Kim had more success than eve wtf are u talking about, ugly d***??

  10. DOSSOME September 20, 2012

    Eve (10yrs)
    Missy & Kim (7yrs)
Foxy Brown (only Lord knows)…see i dont even like onika but she’s definitely doing something these ladies refused to do…taking such long breaks leaving your solid fanbases bare leaves room 4 any wannabe to exploit…its not just in hip-hop but pop too (see nelly furtado)…Unless you are garth brooks or sade, you cant afford yourselves such long breaks and expect to slay effortlessly when you return….i’m still gonna buy your albums anyway.

    • Mark September 20, 2012

I agree with you. When you’re an artist, you should never be gone for longer than four year max — and I think that’s too long. If I were an artist, I wouldn’t stay gone for longer than 2 years after the copyright year of my last album.

I like Eve, Kim, Missy, Foxy, etc., etc., a WHOLE lot more than I do Nicki Minaj — who, IMO, is just a cartoon version of a rapper…but…the truth is that because all of them were on extended hiatus when she emerged, it gave her the leverage to come in and basically claim the scene for herself. Now these aforementioned icons have to come and almost reestablish themselves in a way that they wouldn’t have to if their last album was only 1-3 years ago.

The truth is that fans are fickle. While it’s true that forefeeding them a new album every year can be just as dangerous, as it will result in overexposure (Rihanna)…but being gone for longer than a few years is reckless in this business. Never give fans a reason to move on or look to someone else to give them what you used to but aren’t anymore because you stayed away too long.

    • mobwife: 4-Years-Old :-) September 20, 2012

      YES AND NO!

Most of the problem with FEMCees is that they have to be affiliated with HOT MALE RAPPERS to both get on and stay relevant. There isn’t a female rapper in recent history who has not come through a male rap star. Once those guys fall off te females tend to follow.

NM is not the norm. She entered into the game at the right time. She had no competition and nothing but media love and support from the very start. With that said, I do agree with you aboutthe danger of having long absences from the music scene. And let’s be honest, even Sade struggled with her last effort.

      • ITAINTYOBABY September 21, 2012

Missy did Timbaland is just a producer.

    • Dave September 20, 2012

Hold on. 1st of all, Nicki’s new. How can you state anything about leaving any fanbase when she’s a new artist. She hasn’t been out long enough to even say that. 2, the artist female’s you mentioned had different situations than Kim, & were in the old era, when the whole industry was different. Kim was up in a bad deal w/ a label & had legal trouble, she couldn’t make an album for most of that time. The only time I really hold her accountable was 2010 to now. Missy has graves disease & had been battling with it for a while, it’s on her VH1 Behind the Music special. & she had been writing & producing hits for other artist. She was even on hit singles with Katy Perry this year, & was featured on a Hip Hop single with J. Cole on “Nobody’s Perfect.” The only one I will let you go with is Eve, because I don’t know her situation.

    • sharon September 21, 2012

missy has ALWAYS been part of the music industry WAAYYYYYY before eve was.

  11. FAF September 20, 2012

  13. TeamEveandMissy September 20, 2012

Yesssssssssssss I been waiting 4 my girl aka pitbull in a skirt. Trust u haterz mad and shook bcuz these so called old rap b****** as that clown minaj and her slaves….I mean fans say are coming back to slay this game wit real hip hop real bars and no gimmicks. One things for sure Eve is capable of coming back and destroy s***. U betta check her credits. This album been in the works for years but she just had problem with her label now that’s clear and she’s ready. She does pop records and still stay true to her hardcore audience unlike fakey minaj the sellout. Eve don’t need nobody cosigning her bcuz she is about the life. I’m ready Eve so bring on that fire.

  14. BLACK MADONNA September 20, 2012

WHY IS IT THAT FEMALE RAPPERS DO MORE TALKING ABOUT THE MUSIC THAT THEIR “GOING TO” TO PUT OUT OPPOSED TO JUST PUTTING IT OUT? AND YEAR AFTER YEAR THESE H*** DONT DROP NOTHIN

  15. F*** Swag I’m Dope September 20, 2012

Now we just need Da Brat to come back and the world will be right again. Real hip hop instead of “pop rappers”.

  16. I Judge Flops September 20, 2012

We all know Eve album will TANK and her singles will FLOP

we all know Missy won’t sell S*** and KIM is an irrelevant b****

    buttttt

I don’t see why the f*** who run this site continue to make it seem like Nicki is doing something amazing. She is a SELL OUT POP ARTIST who raps occasionally. The f** who runs this site keeps bragging about “Starships” and “Super Bass” sucess when those are POP SINGLES, none of that h*** hip hop s*** has sold s***. Not to mention the b**** is re-releasing PInk Flop: Roman Done Flopped … just to get the album to actually sell 1,000,000 even tho it’s NO WHERE CLOSE.

I’m honestly just tired of f****** in general.

    • Sir Vann-Oliver September 20, 2012

why so negative? I understand sharing an opinion but where does this blatant negativity come from…your heart??

If you like the music, support and promote…if not, keep your negativity to yourself and keep it moving to find someone else to support/promote.

God Bless you and all the other negative ppl up here!

sn: it’s easy to say Flop but let’s not forget the fact that, for example, every single one of Missy’s 6 previous albums are at LEAST RIAA certified platinum. Although it has been 7 yrs, Missy has a pretty solid sales record and solid fan base.

    • sharon September 21, 2012

      @ I JUDGE FLOPS
THANK U FOR SPEAKING NOTHIN BUT THE TRUTH!!

    • Paul September 21, 2012

Oi Paris Hilton F*** OFF!!! I bet you aint tired of f****** when you are munching c*** for dollars you closet case!

      CLEANED B****!!!

  17. Kyle September 20, 2012

I’ve been a fan since her first album but I really can’t say I’m excited until I hear more in terms of what the first single’s going to be and a release date. She has been saying for the past 3 years that the album is coming soon and it hasn’t happened. At this point, I’m calling “B*******” everytime I hear a new update on the album until she drops new music.

  18. Dave September 20, 2012

Girl bye! Nicki ain’t put no chockhold on the Female Rap game, I’m gonna put as referring to Hip Hop. Nicki is pop & is considered pop. Where are her Hip Hop hits? Yeah, I’ll wait. I’ll put on my binoculars & help you search for them too, *knows the results are scarce*. Nicki was simply a chick who has the ability to “rhyme” & was graced with a label & team to back her, & freely did what she wanted because she had no competition. WHo was actually out rapping thou? Oh yeah, I’ll wait. You can’t put a chockhold on the game, when you have no competition. That’s like when people be talkin smack, but soon as the person that they’re talking smack about get in their face, they have nothing to say (like Nicki around Kim at Diddy’s son’s party). Or it’s like when somebody is bad when they with their friends, mean to everybody, but when they’re friends aren’t around they wanna kiss your b***. That’s why it was so easy for that AZ chick & Iggy to slide into the game, because Nicki surely wasn’t pre-occupying that lane. She’s over there with Katy Perry & Rihanna. & best believe it’s not gonna be difficult for anybody with the substance, skills, material, label, & team. Because Nicki is no competition to the real female MC’s. Same I hope she’s paying you to blog like a mindless Barbie in a borrow Pink wig from Lil Kim. Eve will do fine, she’s talented & has REAL BARS, like Queen Missy. I’m excited for this. Female HIP HOP is finally back with Missy & now Eve.

  19. jason September 21, 2012

looks at hater roflllll uhm EVE has a SERIES behind her. multiple films and STILL STARS ON GLEEE, uhm if she wants a hit she’ll get one. eve has the ability to be in EVERYONES faces she been rackin up film credits and tv credits for years this album will be a hit.

  20. Paul September 21, 2012

If Nicki Minaj is the standard then female rap is in a very sorry state. Missy, Kim, Eve, Foxy, Lyte. Rage, Dynamite, Salt and Pepper are the standard…Nicki Minaj is basically a stopgap until Azealia comes out. Now that b**** has bars. I love she!

All Nicki Minaj is, is a disrespectful c*** who calls the ladies who paved the way for her irrelevant because she knows she aint seeing them… she jacked one of the greatest female MC’s style and still continues to do so by donning a green wig and sitting in bubble bath in the IAMYL vid…where have I seen that bit before,… do your hip hop homework kids, Lil Kim irrelevant please child anyone who can hold there own on a track with Biggie will never be irrelevant and if it wasn’t her you wouldn’t even have a look because you are to dumb to create one. No one likes a thief honey!

As for her bars that b**** aint got no ink if she aint using a ghostwriter she needs one!

Moral of the story is this don’t ever compare the female vanilla ice to a legend like Eve. That will be all!

    • Jessica September 23, 2012

PREACH!!!! NICKI GARBAGE IS F****** DONE, MISSY BACK, EVE BACK, KIM BACK, NICKI IS FLOP SHOW!!!
