There have been a list of singers who have opted to put their own spin on Barbados Top Model Rihanna‘s hits. Indeed and with ease, the likes of Jojo, Jessie J, Florence Welch, and co. have played vocal visitor over Riri’s signature tunes and put them to shame.
Looking to join that growing list would be ‘Stronger’ songstress Kelly Clarkson who, like many before her (including many-a-Youtuber), used her instrument to bring a live performance of ‘We Found Love’ to a hopeful place.
Lifted to the net by lucky fans this week, hear ‘Love’ live in key (for once) below:

I’m sure a strangled cat can sing We Found Love better than Rihanna.
I have to admit though, Kelly Clarkson does have a good voice but I would not have bought her version, it would have been at best album filler. Rihanna has a unique tone and diction that only she can do. She has a certain way of singing that just makes it interesting.
Kelly Clarkson’s version, though good, paves in comparison to Rihanna’s because Rihanna’s is just more interesting whereas Kelly Clarkson sounds like a preacher preaching at a night club on a Saturday night, I just cant believe her if it was originally her song.
BTW, why is Kelly Clarkson consistently performing covers on her tour? Just wondering.
She was cute though, give her a chance. I liked it, but her voice didn’t connect towards the end, sounded just like a cover, she didnt own it starting after the 2 verse ended.

Kelly sounded good, I loved this and I loved Rihanna’s grammy performance, maybe they can perform an acoustic rock version together and they would both kill it. Rihanna’s music is so great that it has many artist covering it, heck, Ciara, Rita Ora, Kelly Rowland and Willow smit hhave even all tried to swagger-jack Rihanna’s distinctive sound.

I’m sorry but that was a screeching mess. A song like “We Found Love” was a smash because the mellowness of the vocal contrasted with the grandiose of the production. Not every song needs to start out at a 10 and finish at 12 screaming in your ear. You scream queens that can only get off if BeYAWNce is growling, spitting, and squawking need to have all the seats.
The song was a success because of the production. Absolutely NOTHING special about the vocals. You could have cut/paste any other artist’s vocals have them auto-tuned and add the rest of the studio magic and it would have been a hit.
