Must-See: A*M*E – ‘Play The Game Boy’

Published: Wednesday 26th Sep 2012 by Sam

These days music videos seem more a requirement than an artistic investment. So few churn out visuals that demand the attention of the masses; an ironic shame given the visual age we’re in.

Imagine our surprise, then, when we stumbled upon this epic gem from British newcomer A*M*E.

Aged just 17, the pint-sized singer razzles and dazzles in the video for her infectious debut single ‘Play The Game Boy’ (due November 5th via Future/ Universal Music).

The clip packs gloss aplenty, yet it’s A*M*E herself that shines most. Indeed, between the choreography, weave flicks, and intricate isms, it’s clear the Londoner possesses a confidence and stage presence well beyond her years. What’s more she co-wrote the song too.

She has excited, does she have the same effect on you?

Your thoughts?

the song is whack as f**… but if its played enough times that s*** will get stuck in your head…shes only 17 so i guess its age appropriate. but w/e…. Clearly there wasnt a big budget for the video but atleast she was dancing in the video… -_- …. Im sure if they market her in those asian countries, they will eat it up … with a different look and with better material… i would consider giving her a second chance to redeem herself…. but for tho… i hope she does well… with a lil more time and development she might be able to blow up

She looks like a baby Keisha Buchanan, but she doesn’t pack the punch that Keisha’s voice does.

Hopefully this is not what they call “beyond her years” needs to be behind if she’s gonna make it.

I hate the fact that you (Sam) determine whether one is fierce and confident or not by how well she flicks her weave. Such a gay queeny mentality and the reason why I don’t take you seriously.

The Brits need to keep their artists and made them #1 over there instead of making Americans takeover their #1 slopt. Americans seems to hate anything any other artists who’s not Americans with the exceptson of Rihanna. Americans are very hateful people.

americans like talent and authenticity… hence the chart success of acts like Adele, Shakira, Rihanna, Amy Winehouse, and Coldplay (and these are just contemporary musicians). this doesn’t seem to fit either of those adjectives. I will say though, the video was well styled and the hook is infectious. other than that, try again…

IDK. It was catchy, especially the toy chant part. I got better as it went a long. I mean, nicki minaj puts out far worst s***.
