New Song: Alicia Keys – ‘Not Even The King (HQ Version)’

Published: Saturday 8th Sep 2012 by David

After delivering a live version of the number last night, today saw Alicia Keys release the official version to her new number ‘Not Even The King’.

Boasting clean vocals and an inspiring message, it’s safe to say that this one came straight from the heart and will go a long way to spark interest in Keys’ new LP, ‘Girl On Fire‘.

It’s so ironic when rich people speak about these sorts of issue whilst CASHING in for it.

I don’t understand it at all, we should go buy this song about it not being about the money, fuelling your already high bank account…. please. If you want to do songs like this make them available to the public for free download or for charity.

I may not have articulated this well but I know some people out there would agree. Critique about that aside she is a true gem of talent

why should she make her music be free, you fans feel like your entitle to everything. that’s the problem with our generation and economy. we want to sit back on our fat asses and expect people to just throw things our way, you b****** are f****** up the economy. Alicia its trying to make a dollar from her talents like the rest of us

        THIS!

You misunderstood and I thought that might happen having not articulating it the best way. I was pointing out the irony of materialism, whereby artists will make songs about things not being about the material goods in life and it being about love, etc. However, as a consumer society we are doing just that by going out and buying cds just to hear a “message”. Like it or not the function of celebrity or buying cds is materialism. I’m the first to say I am, because I have all her cds, I just don’t like the irony behind it all or the hypocrisy if i’m being completely honest. Still love the chick though, but so many artists are about that

Alicia is not that great of a vocalist and this song is boring as hell! It sounds too similar to many of her other songs!

In this song it shows her powerful skills. Fall back, when she sing in her rang she’s an great vocalist.

I like it n every time I listen it grows on me. It don’t sound like Alicia at times like at the Chorus but that’s okay it’s a beautiful song n a diffrent concept instead of the usual I love u song. Great!! I can really appreciate a song like this because I/we surrounded by all this generic pop mess. Ugh but glad my faves r Alicia,Brandy,Bey,MJB,Monica,Jazzy, etc n MF growing on me. But she still irritate me a little.

    This is a YESSS
I also liked “New Day”… but Girl on Fire is a NO for me, specially cos of the vocals. I´m glad I heard this song now. The album is still promising

I agree that it sounds like Emeli Sande wrote it. And I heard they were working together, so it’s not unlikely that she actually did.

Anyway, this song just reignited my interest in her new album. After ‘GOF’ being a mess, I thought the album was going to be of the same level, but this is much better. This is the kind of track that her voice works well on. She obviously can’t pull off the high notes, so toning it down is perfect and it works. I like it 🙂
