Upon her debut in 2008, Lady GaGa was sold to the world as the protegee of ‘Lonely’ singer Akon.
Almost inseparable during the Canadian leg of ‘The Fame’s promo, the pair hit many an outlet declaring their creative love for each other.
Then, in what was all too obvious to her rising fan base, he disappeared from her cause- only rearing his head two years later to weigh in on her ‘war of wigs’ with Christina Aguilera.
Now, GaGa‘s long time friend Tamar Braxton (whose husband discovered the singer) has revealed the sinister reason behind Akon‘s ‘exit’ from her camp, during an interview with ‘The Breakfast Club‘.

When asked why GaGa no longer ‘acknowledges’ the singer, Braxton revealed:
“Why would she mention Akon for? He’s a liar and the truth ain’t in him. What was the story he told? Because I was there when [Vince] discovered Lady Gaga and Akon was nowhere near.
I’m just trying to be honest. I mean, from what I know, is that REDONE was his producer and so that’s how he got that credit.
You know how people be stealing peoples publishing and stuff like that […] and that’s how that happened, but he didn’t find her on Myspace like this one [points to Vince] did. He didn’t find her on the roller-skates with the bikini top.
I’m sorry I just don’t like it when people be lying like that. Just tell the truth.
He needs to sit down in all seats in Yankee stadium.”
Scenarios like these are all too telling of an industry dependent on smoke, mirrors and everything in between.
Sure, while we’re sure Akon is still yet to tell his side, it’s interesting he was credited for discovering Germanotta and was all too ready to accept the praise and acclaim that ‘story’ brought him.
When, as Tamar all but said, his actual purpose was to give GaGa the credibility his notoriety at that time could and did give her.
Pretty ironic, considering his current standing in Pop is a little… ‘Balloon Boy-ish’.

That is the point. It was all a facade because Akon was popular at the time.
She said that because her people told her to say that. It’s much like Diana Ross and The Jacksons saying that Diana found them when several other people presented The Jacksons to Barry Gordy before he finally signed them. Diana was used to get The Jacksons credibility even though she had nothing to do with them being signed to Motown. Which is exactly what they were doing with Gaga and Akon.
Tamar is always feeding off of Gaga for her own sake. She isn’t the superstar. She uses Gaga’s name to help benefit herself. Her lil quotes have become redundant.
Akon was famous before but not even close to Gaga’s fame now and honestly considering the music he makes, i don’t think he is responsible of Gaga’s music and success, i think he might help her but she became a star on her owm, it’s like Jay-Z and Rihanna, he help Rihanna but she makes the rest. Jay-z Barely did anything for Rih, stop funding her first album after 2 singles (it ull of demos) wouldn’t make her a second album till her manager got her S.O.S and it smashed, and even made her fund all the AGLM/ GGGB singles and GGGB reloaded album by herself (Or with endorsments). In 2010 after Rated R didnt to do well he tried to replace her and #TTT was doing better but not spectacular and her is trying to replace her again.
