As the Urban music community continues to mourn the tragic death of singer Natina Reed, the surviving members of the late star’s group Blaque have released a statement.
The words of Brandi Williams and Shamari Fears-DeVoe come on the heels of further details surrounding the circumstances of Reed’s untimely passing.

“We are devastated by the loss of our group member, sister and friend Natina Reed. Because of the enormous support of Blaque fans and our love for each another, Blaque officially reunited this fall and we were in the process of working on a new album and a reality show. Natina continuously embodied the pioneering spirit of Blaque and her undeniable creativity touched the hearts of fans everywhere. Natina was a mother, sister, accomplished songwriter, artist and friend. We ask for your prayers at this time for Natina’s family. She will forever be missed and her global influence eternally felt. We thank God for the experiences we shared.”
The whole episode is so incredibly sad.
While initially reported as a “hit and run”, authorities close to the investigation have confirmed otherwise.
A press release sent to E! read:
“The driver of the vehicle contacted 911 to request assistance. Natina Reed was pronounced dead at Gwinnett Medical Center at 10:59 p.m. E.S.T.
Preliminary information indicates that Reed was in the roadway on Lawrenceville Highway near Hamilton Road when struck. The driver involved was determined to be not at fault and there are no charges pending.”

Although a spec of comfort can be sourced from fact that it wasn’t a callous hit and run, the end result isn’t any less painful. For, the reality of the matter is that a woman has died prematurely at the age of 32, and her 10 year old son is now without a mother.
Again, our sincerest thoughts and prayers go out to Natina’s family and friends.

Its such a sad day, and slightly creepy that Blaque lost a member involved in a car accident, the rapper, and TLC’s Left Eye, who created them, lost her life in a car accident as well.
Blaque was definitely an underrated group, first album doing pretty well, then all the setbacks and shelved albums, I was really excited for them to get back on the radio 🙁 Prayers go out to her son and the remaining members and family

They should definitely release the “Torch” album for the fans.. The only reason I heard for the shelving was that the album didn’t turn out as good as they wanted it. But the clips are on youtube and the fans love it! It is unacceptable that a great song like “Hopeless” never had an official release. I’m a real fan, but kinda just let it go a few years ago. At least they shot a video for “I’m Good”.. That direction sound wise and image wise was so fresh for them.
Glad to see a true fan like you emerge from all the tragedy. Stay strong. I wasn’t a diehard fan but I did like a few of their songs. I’m good was my jam too. Still love it to this day.

Poor woman, she had one of those personalities that popped up in everything she did: music videos, movies, interviews…she was so very vibrant.
I feel the worst for her son, I’m glad it wasn’t a hit and run but it’s so horrible when it seems like a death that could have been avoided. Sigh. Prayers and blessings to the family.
Yes, I knew a friend’s family member that died of a hit and run accident. Was only a little girl too. It’s definitely sad and tragic!!! I hate deaths that could be avoided. :(((

Natina was the rapper of the group, yes. Shoulda heard the rap in 808 remix. Lol. It was cute. She wasn’t as good a rapper like Left Eye but she wasn’t bad either. The group was definitely promising at one point.

Anyone find it odd? Left Eye got into a tragic car accident in 2002. Ten year laters 2012, Natina the offspring off the group gets into a similar accident. ANYONE NOTICE THE YEARS END IN 2?? They both were rappers! WOW. What ashame. It’s sad how deaths can repeat themselves in a circle of people close or related to eachother. RIP.
