Why she is held in such high regards is the fact that her vocal tone is unique, many have tried (Megan Rochelle, Dawn Richards) but none can compete, and many still aspire and appreciate. whitney and mariah were the greats, but they sang using mostly obvious chord arrangements that are easily mimicked (not saying everyone can hit their notes)
however,..music has become more complex now where SANGERS incorporate a lot more intricate chords….which are harder to “hear” and execute…..gospel singers have been doing this forever…a la kim burrell, but Brandy is one of the first and few in the r and b world to do it and be successful..
her riffs and runs have been copied (not all the time successfully) , by chris brown, kelly rowland, keri hilson, omarion, trey songz, jojo,coko, kiki sheard, etc…..and also by most aspring r and b and gospel artists of today’s generation …..so for everyone who wants to know why she is touted as the VOCAL BIBLE…now u know

Keyshia Cole, Nivea, Omarion, RIHANNA (she said so herself) and so on and so on. Almost every damn R&B act in the 2000′s has cited Brandy as influence or inspiration. People appreciate what she can do with her lower register (on and off stage) and also because her runs are one of a fucking kind. And she has a hell of a vocal range she just isnt a screamer like most of the sangers that small minds look up to. She reaches every note with fulfillment its hard to describe it, but it feels different. Its different from powerhouses like whitney and screamers like christina, j hud, beyonce. And mariah cant even reach a note let alone hold a note so lets not go there. Shes a throat singer an thats why it isnt working for her anymore

Breathtaking talent. Brandy is Brandy, there is really no-one else that comes to mind when she’s on her A-Game…, the only person she ever sounds like is herself and that’s rare> Esp’ for a singer with real God-given ability. Brandy is the truth and truly deserves her time in the sun…, Personally, I don’t get why anyone would wanna shit on that considering how few genuinely talented artists are being allowed to succeed in music at the moment.
I blame the current state of the music industry, as they have lead modern audiences to believe that for one artist to succeed everyone else must fail. ’90′s audiences will remember the variety that used to exist in contemporary Rnb and that true talent comes in many shades and really can exist at the same time. If Brandy wins then we’ll all start to see real talent begin to get record deals again and have success.

I believe she lip sang…… I think this was the PRE RECORDING to her performance…. In a real rehearsal you mock your performance in FULL and she is doing NO DANCING here. She did great in the rehearsal BUT She wasn’t singing live at the awards… NO SHADE INTENDED

But when you lip, you sing to pre-recorded vocals and if you’ll notice her vocals here aren’t the same as her vocals at the performance. Brandy makes lipping look easy, and like it’s totally LIVE, but let’s not deny the fact that she’s more than capable of delivering vocally. Yeah, a few of her facial expressions were kinda weird during the performance, but she kinda does that periodically.
I just can’t see Brandy lipping a tribute performance to her idol and mentor.

Die without you is my favorite track on the vocal bible full moon I absolutely love that CD everything just flowed together but anyway that song makes me believe that s what heaven she sound like and feel like and it takes me back to when I was 10 and getting her CD and Aaliyah last CD those albums will always be close to my heart!!

Brandy should be honored that people think she was lip syncing. It just goes to show how great Brandy actually is. That tribute was live… It would make no sense to lip sync while everyone else in the tribute was singing live. There would be no need for her to rehearse with Ricky Minor and his band if her vocals were pre-recorded. If she was going to lip sync for the tribute then she would be practicing to a recording. There would be no need for her to practice live. Clearly you can hear the background singer singing with her… There would be no need for backup singer if it wasnt going to be live… & it would be just plain disrespectful to lip sync in a Whitney tribute… She would never dare… SMH… I think the people hating on Brandy are white…. idk my intuition is just telling me that sum of ya are white and dont know anything about real singers… i would hate to think that its black people who are hating on this talented woman.

Some of y’all sound far from intelligent saying that she lip sung. Anytime Brandy has prerecorded a track, you could tell in the difference in quality of the audio. Clearly this had the same audio quality as the performance, and great at that. It also had the same basic format as the performance but she switched up the ad libs. Plus she wouldn’t have prerecorded so many Adlibs and runs as it would be harder to follow. The whole reason ure in disbelief is because of her level of CONTROL…that’s why we call her the VOCAL BIBLE…maybe you should too!

Brandy is a great and a unique vocalist but a vocal bible is reaching.If I had to choose a great and so far the best Whitney tribute would be Kelly Rowland how will I know and greatest love of all performance.Kelly can Whitney justice not brandy.Brandy is still great though.Maybe brandy would do lauryn hill some justice.

No shade, her albums looks like a great piece of work (I can´t listen to the snippets though, don´t know why) but the few I´ve hears i think they are great (for Brandy)
But that Vocal Bible title you want to give her is not fair and you know it. Like come on. of course power doesn´t mean good voice and all that, and I agree brandy has an unique voice. But Vocal bible is too big for a singer like her. Sorry. I hope you all excited fans go buy her album cos I don´t want to see her flop the week after with the final numbers

Every R&B Diva I Just named would “Sang” not sing “SANG” Brandy Norwood under the table.
